About

FALSETTOS revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his wife, his lover, his about-to-be-Bar-Mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door. It’s a hilarious and achingly poignant look at the infinite possibilities that make up a modern family... and a beautiful reminder that love can tell a million stories.

William Finn and James Lapine’s groundbreaking 1990s Tony Award-winning musical comes back to Broadway this fall in an all new production from Lincoln Center Theater. Lapine returns to direct an extraordinary cast featuring Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, Andrew Rannells, Anthony Rosenthal, Tracie Thoms, Brandon Uranowitz, and Betsy Wolfe.

The Walter Kerr Theater Box Office is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 8pm; Sunday, Noon to 6pm. Tickets will not be sold at the Lincoln Center Theater Box Office. Tickets may also be bought over the phone by calling Ticketmaster at 800-982-2787.

    Boring

by Schmutzy on 12/27/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I was so excited about seeing the two male stars but really felt the mother stole the show! Didn't realize there was no dialogue only singing and the storyline was relevant when it was originally on broadway but not so now.

    Torture to sit through

by CathyXx on 12/26/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

This play was dated in every sense of the word. Plot line, staging, orchestration, lyrics, costumes. Plus, the female character was the total male fantasy fabrication.

Brilliantly directed and cast. The cast was terrific and moving. Probably the best production you will see of this show.

    Falsettos was perfect

by Weeklytheatergoer on 12/25/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I was captured at the opening, and it got better from there. The story, seriously talented cast, simple yet perfect scenery. I had not seen it before, and was thrilled that I did.

    fantastic

by FredBroadwayGuy on 12/25/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Impeccable cast - Stephanie J Block deserves a Tony for best featured actress in a musical. I'm sure she will win this year. Christian Borle and Andrew Rannells are also phenomenal. So are Brandon Uranowitz and the little boy. The set design is particularly clever.

    Brilliant acting!

by SandyWannabe on 12/24/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Brilliant acting by a talented and versatile cast. Anthony Rosenthal was adorable, a rising talent for sure. Christian Borle and Stephanie Block are incredibly talented actors who consume their roles to make their characters truly come to life.

Best theatre experience I've ever had

by Livie47 on 12/24/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

It's official: this is my favorite musical of all time (and I don't use phrases like that lightly). The story is so deeply moving and important, the music is brilliantly complex, and I rarely see such human characters on stage. This production's cast is truly Broadway's best and brightest stars, and the chemistry and love between them is palpable. In addition, I'd be very surprised if the set design doesn't get a Tony nomination this season. Unfortunately it only runs for a couple more weeks, so SEE IT IF YOU CAN, otherwise, make sure you tape it when it airs on PBS! (date not yet announced)

    A wonderful experience

by Bobbyji on 12/24/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Five top actors/singers bring back the times of the AIDS crisis with poignancy and aplomb. I was deeply moved. See it before it closes on January 8th!

    Outstanding cast, but...

by MightyBoosh on 12/23/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

The cast is outstanding in every way. The show features one show-stopping number about breaking down that is truly one of those classic Broadway performances you never forget. It makes you wish the whole show could sustain that level and hit that high. Act I and Act II at times feel as if they are two different plays. In fact, I learned after the fact that that is because there were two different plays which were merged together. The music has some wonderful, unpredictable melodies and twists, but for me was a bit overly quirky and left me longing for a song where the lyrics were jammed in to capacity. Don't get me wrong, there is much to love about Falsettos. There are some great comic moments and stand-out performances. Show could win Best Revival of a Musical.

    Marvelous, touching story and performances

by TMF53 on 12/23/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Great performances all around. First act a bit frantic and scattered, although Stefanie J Block's performance of "I'm Breaking Down" is alone worth the price of admission. Second act is better paced and more poignant. Christian Borle and Andrew Rannells are perfectly matched as Marvin and Whizzer.

Amazing voices and a story of family and relationships that never grows old. Laughs and tears, leaves you sad but with hope. Ranell and Borel at their best! Interesting staging.

One of my all time favorite shows

by RandiT on 12/21/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I've seen every version of this show since the original "March of the Falsettos". This is a beautiful and moving production. The cast is perfection. I'd love to see BroadwayHD.com immortalize it as they've done with "She Loves Me". I've already put in my order for the cast album, which will be released on January 27th.

    What a great show

by ceh824 on 12/20/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

A friend of mine recommended this show to me. She had seen the original production in 1992 and said it was her absolute favorite so I bought the tickets back in August. I was absolutely not disappointed. The show is really fast paced and smart. The lyrics are witty and reminded us of Sondheim in general and Company in particular. Stephanie J. Block is straight up amazing as Trina, and the rest of the cast is excellent too. I've been listening to the cast recording nonstop since I saw it. Can't recommend it highly enough.

    Falsettos is Fantastic!

by vermontdon on 12/20/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I saw the original Falsettos in 1992 and a pre-Broadway production in Hartford,CT. This new production is fresh and fun and heartbreaking as it ever was. The cast is loaded with Tony winners and nominees. Christian Borle is very effective as Marvin, the man who wants it all, while Stephanie Block really shines in her comic number, I'm Breaking Down and the touching Holding to the Ground. Andrew Rannells is excellent as the pretty boy object of Marvin's affection. The rest of the cast is every bit as good as the headliners. Anthony Rosenthal, as Jason, the son of a broken marriage is extremely convincing and holds his own with the adults in the cast. The set is ingenious, being a large block, made up of smaller blocks that assemble in different configurations to represent furniture, walls, etc. and is moved by the cast members. The production is seamless, moves deftly from emotion to emotion and, when the lights come up, there's not a dry eye in the house . Bravo.
