About

TIM RICE and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's Tony Award®-winning musical returns to Broadway at last, starring Grammy® Award winner RICKY MARTIN (Les Misérables) and Olivier Award winner ELENA ROGER (Piaf), who will be the first Argentinian actress to play the role of Evita on Broadway. She reprises her remarkable portrayal that dazzled audiences and critics in London's West End. Also starring is Tony Award winner MICHAEL CERVERIS (Sweeney Todd).

ELENA ROGER was so bad she made Madonna sound ...

by Joseph0131 on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

ELENA ROGER was so bad she made MADONNA's rendition so much better! Elena could not reach the high notes and could not keep up with the fast paced tunes!

No one in this cast disappoints. It has sweet funny moments and of course Ricky's butt so how can you possibly lose. Everyone was just incredible!

    Simply Wonderful!

by Grinbare on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

Evita is back with those beautiful songs and a terrific new cast. In the re-imagined character of Che, Ricky Martin is fantastic, gracious and loving! It's nice to have Evita back after all these years. By the way, Christina DeCicco, is one wonderful Eviata. She's not a substitute...she's a real start with a beautiful voice

    Evita was Wonderful.... but...

by MusicalLoverNYC on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

The original "Evita" was my favorite musical on Broadway, and I'm happy to say that this revival is wonderful as well.... However, I do need to qualify that! Not to be mean, but I've seen it twice now -- once with the principal lead actress (Elena Roger) as Evita and once with her understudy/alternate (Cristina DeCicco) in the role (during a Saturday matinee) -- and I have to say that the understudy was FAR BETTER than the star!!!! In fact, the entire show was FAR BETTER when she was in the role! There was much more chemistry between she and the male actors, she was much more expressive, her voice was more beautiful, etc. The only thing the lead actress (Roger) had over her was that she was an amazing dancer. But this role requires so much more than that! In order to care about Eva Peron, the actress must show the audience her true self. I just cannot stress enough that if you go see this show, you should go to a Saturday matinee or Wednesday evening production where Ms. Decicco is playing Eva!!!!!!!!!

    Three cheers for Ricky Martin

by JosephRocque on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

An unforgettable show. Ricky Martin, the music, the sets and the ensemble were all amazing. The only really bad aspect of this show is Elena Rogers. Her voice is just not up to the demands of the score. The producers need to look for someone else and then they will have the best show on Broadway.

This Evita is almost the best show I have seen!

by Sailingman on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

Elena Roger's voice was not big enough to carry the singing though and the acting from both her and Ricking Martin was uneven in the first act. Yet, the production values (orchestrations, dance, set, and lighting) are so strong, the show itself so wonderfully complex, and Rachel Potter's version of Another Suitcase in Another Hall so touching that it would be hard to review the show based only on the first act. Act 2 cleared things up. Roger backed down on the belting and got a chance to show off her acting chops during her fall. Michael Cerveris who was consistently good helped carry the tempo. By the end, we were thinking this is almost the by best show we have seen -- much better than the touring version from a few years ago. It is worth going to this Evita -- Roger's story is compelling although there are moments when it is fair to ask what she is doing up there. Except for these moments, the show was excellent.

Play was great- excellent cast, not overshadowed by the star, though his performance was top notch as well. Great music to support a great show.

Great show, Elena was a little hard to understand a couple of times but it added something to the authenticity of the character. Ricky and Michael were great too.

    Evita was Excellent

by PoqChas on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

Very good production. I did see the original production many years ago. This favorably compares with my recollection of the first. Elena and Ricky as the lead characters had good voices. Not superb, but more than adequate. Ricky provided a lot of his natural charisma. We were well entertained .

    Best Show Ever!

by jmp8910 on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

This was such a great show. It was my first time ever to New York City let alone Broadway. I have always been a fan of Andrew Lloyd Weber and Evita is my #1 favorite musical ever. I remember watching the movie with Madonna as a young child with my mother. I also own the original Broadway recording on record. This show definitely did not let me down. The singing was great and the stage sets were also amazing! If it wasn't so expensive I would go back just to see it again! Elaina Rodger did a great job as Evita and Ricky Martin as Che' was a great choice. I believe this helped bring a lot of people new to the musical scene to come see the show. Overall I give it a 5 stars out of 5!

Ricky Martin will win the Tony

by Jimbo40 on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

With a great unforgettable score this production was great. I saw the female lead alternate who was awesome. I'm not at all a Ricky Martin fan until I saw him in this show. He is great. Great dancing, sets and all around good production. Can't wait for the recording to come out in June.

Ricky Martin was great, but Evita was not.

by Jugernuts on 4/9/12Marquis Theater - New York

I was surprised at how good Ricky Martin did on stage. Can't wait to see him in something else. The lead for Evita was not that good. Second Act was much better for her, but those high notes in the first half made you cringe. Also, I thought that both the opening and closing were soft at best. Wanted more ooomph and wow! All in all not a bad show, though.

    Not 100% convinced

by Rochi on 4/9/12Marquis Theatre - New York

Evita is not what I expected. Ricky Martin is fabulous, he is really good but the actress playing Evita has a high pitch voice that sometimes wasn't too pleasant. The story could use a little more live. If you want to see Ricky Martin on Broadway is good to go see him but if you are going because of the story, I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.
