  • But the drums

by Sofie on 9/19/24Center Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - SkokieRating: 4 out of 5

This would have been a great concert - if Esperanza hadn't be drowned out by the drums. At times her voice was barely audible over the noise. I hadn't expected the dancers, but I came to appreciate the interplay of music and dance.

  • Multi-talented, creative musical/dance event!

Really an intimate sharing of her talent and creativity. Gracious in identifying her cohorts on stage. Unique experience of dance, lyrical melodies, and fascinating approach to audience participation. Loved it!

  • Amazing!

Esperanza Spalding is such a joy. I only knew a few songs before buying tickets and I’m so glad that I went. Left with a few favorite songs and some little life lessons.

  • Excellent Musicianship

by Mark on 9/17/24Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Esperanza Spalding may have been the best concert that I’ve ever seen in Indy. Her voice is amazing, the music was outstanding, and the venue was perfect for the performance.

  • Jazz that transcends generations

by Kiefer on 9/17/24Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Really cool that Esperanza brought the boomers and Gen Z/Millenials together in one room. She brought the house down with her immense talent.

  • The Lady Is Amazing

by WNOPGuy on 9/17/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Esperenza is everything you expect and more. Jetlagged from the previous day's international flight she performed full out on upright bass, electric bass, piano, and 6 string flat top, singing the whole 90 minute set. The two backup singers didn't sing much--they were too busy with their choreographed modern interpretive dance. The duo on drums and keys never lost the groove. The 30 minute encore was a special treat. Our only complaint was the sound. This was a jazz concert, but the sound tech kept the levels too hih all night. It is hard to give an intimate performance at 100 decibels.

  • Ethereal artist

by Cincy Fritz on 9/16/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Esperanza Spalding is an amazing artist whose ethereal vocal performance left me enraptured. Leaving the Radio Music Society way behind, her material was very fresh and unexpected. Her musical artistry with the upright and electric bass is remarkable, perfectly complementary to her vocal gifts. Her ensemble provided strong support and were solid soloists in their own right. The interpretive dancers added to the multi sensory experience. The Taft sound system never sounded better thanks to her engineer.

  • Blown Away

by Peg on 9/16/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Esperanza Spalding gave a fascinating and inspiring performance at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati after flying in the day before from Paris. There was no sign of jet lag. She commanded the stage with her voice and virtuosity, taking her audience through an experience of music and dance that exceeded anything we have experienced before. Her encore included at the very end a song that was a special request from an audience member. She was all alone on the stage with her standup bass, and she absolutely captured the soul of the song. We did not have any the show to end. I first saw her sometime around 2010-11 in Central Park with McCoy Tyner and have followed her career since. Awesome.

  • Incredible show

by Amanda Hammons on 9/16/24Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

I didn’t know that I had been waiting 20something years to see her live (since noise for pretend). I felt so lucky to see this show. What a gifted and talented artist. The artists with her were amazing as well. What a joy to see her live.

  • Amazing artist

by C Jones on 8/6/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show in a very intimate venue. I was skeptical about driving out to Cal State LA to see a concert venue, but once inside the theater is very nice and the artist was absolutely amazing. It was a full show, visually musically poetically and she really helped bring it all together Through her lyrics. Absolutely outstanding!

  • AWE-INSPIRING!

Esperanza created a vibe that gently captivated, engaged and embraced the entire audience. Like a magic carpet she seemingly effortlessly carried us on a cosmic journey through emotional, spiritual and thought-provoking depth of wisdom and clairty to the light of absolute freedom. Her live performance nourished my heart, planting a seed that will continue to grow. Her show was among the best live performances I've ever seen, participted with, inspiring and delighting every fiber of my being! Absolutely amazing, awe-inspiring! Thank you Esperanza!

  • Great show, love the venue

by SteveA on 8/5/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Esperanza Spalding is really unique, reminds me of Joni Mitchell at her jazziest but with r&b elements, and she had 4 dancers performing with her trio as well.

Ms. SPAULDING AND ASSOCIATES put on a brilliant performance. Each number was unique, cultural, and spirit lifting. The interaction with the audience was playful and fun. The venue was perfect for her style of production and performance. Hope to see her again in L.A.

Great venue, nice and intimate with close parking. The tickets were very reasonably priced and we had great seats (third row from the stage). The concert was wonderful! Esperanza is so talented! It was our first time seeing her. Just a great concert experience.
