Came for a great show for Erykah.....

by jtayler on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

But St. Vincent took over! I understood she was in the line up, but I did NOT think she would sing for so LONGGGGG. Erykah performed for all of 45 minutes! I loved Erykah, I did, but the headliner should definitely take the show! Not the opener! Kind of disappointed, but hey, my ticket was only $30, so I didn't really "lose" in this situation.

in my opinion at Vincent and erykah badu were two totally different acts. Vincent should not have opened for Badu. She played longer them Erykah which sucked because badu was only on for exactly an hour. That's it :( I feel robbed from the experience I thought I was going to have.

    Erykah Badu

by Natecoastie on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Enjoy the show. I along with the crowd, felt the show was cut to short. What she did do, she put it down. Love her voice. The sound system and the video at the Hollywood Bowl was outstanding. Purchase the tickets in May, watch a lot of ms badu live video concerts prior to this concert. So i was anticipated a little more, for my first Badu experience. The rumor i heard, i hope its not true. That EB had another engagement to attend. That's why she left so early. A full house was stunned. And she do one of my favorite "Bad Lady"

St. Vincent was good, excellent performance. Erykah was beyond amazing. Only complaint set was too short. Next 15 more minutes please.

Most in the Audience Felt Cheated!

by MightyJon on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Erykah Badu's Session was awesome but way too short. She came out after St Vincent, and then after only about 20 minutes, stated openly to the crowd that she was being told that her time was running out. Having said that, Erykah should consider coming back, but agree 2 guarantee doing either a solo or personal 2 hr show. That way, she could charge more & fully satisfy her fans. Fans should never feel cheated.

Erykah Badu was fab but no encore

by MissCHJ on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Erykah Badu was amazing but it was obvious that this show was to highlight St. Vincent. She played first and her set was 10 minutes longer than Badu. Badu played just over an hour and played no encore.

    Exceptional!!!

    by Kally25 on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

It was a great concert! St. Vincent is no joke! And Ms. E, she is very entertaining she is truly a great artist, not just a musician! And that is what I saw. She is funny, smart and talented. Hollywood Bowl was Rocking that night!!!!!

St. Vincent cut into Erykah Badu's Set

by MariaMtz on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Erykah Badu was the sole purpose I purchased tickets for the event. While I knew this was a KCRW event with two other performers, I also had called to understand the set times. Erykah Badu was the headliner, and should have had time for at least 10 songs. St. Vincent played for over two hours and cut so deeply into Badu's set that they did not have enough time for even an encore. Truly Truly disappointed.

By far one of the best shows I've been to. Down to earth, nice vibe, great music and friendly guests on either side of me enjoying the show with just as much enthusiasm as myself.

    St.Vincent Killed it!

by Realtuffcookie on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I knew what an impressive and great performer St.Vincent was and even knowing all that, I was blown away. Such an incredible show! Great, great venue at the Bowl. Can't wait to come back!

    A Great Show!

by Anonymous on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Erykah Badu was great, as expected. We did not know St Vincent's music - what a nice surprise! Excellent also. The Bowl itself was awesome as usual. Highly recommended.

    Not enough Erykah Badu

by Anonymous on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The opening act went on for too long and Erykah Badu performed for a much shorter length of time (perhaps 35-40 mins). As a headliner, I would have expected her to take the bulk of the time. Although her performance was good (great voice and performer), I wish I could have listened to her for longer, as she was the sole reason I bought tickets to this event.

    Erykah Badu and St. Vincent

    by MnMs805 on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Over all the show was amazing!! I love Erykah even more now than I did in the 90's. Amazing show girl kudos to you. She still sounds great and I LOVE her vibe. St. Vincent was great as well. Generally not the type of music I'd listen to so it was nice to be exposed to something new. She was an amazing guitarist and performer I loved the lighting effects of her show and her dancers were on point!. My only wish was that Erykah Badu's performance was longer I was so digging her show and when it ended I felt it was cut a little short. That would have made the experience spectacular.

Was So Excited and Left Underwhelmed

    by KadyLady79 on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

When the Hollywood Bowl announced Erykah Badu was performing, we were over the moon. But upon arrival, it became clear that St. Vincent would play more than 8 songs. While I have no doubt that there is a certain demographic that likes St. Vincent, I am not certain she was a great opener for the fans of Erykah Badu. We ended up sitting in the Wine Bar chatting until she was finished. When Ms. Badu did perform, it was for about 30 minutes or less. How disappointing! I'm also going to sound like a grumpy old lady at 35 and say that it would be a help on the part of the Hollywood Bowl to at least try to police the fans smoking illegal substances. I'm sure it's cool if you're doing it but it's obnoxious if you're not.

    Disappointed

by BJayJay on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This is the fourth Badu concert I have attended at the Nokia she was two hours late but when she arrived she put on an excellent performance. This performance was just okay. She performed approximately one hour, St. Vincent performed too long. If hadn't used park and ride I would have left during St Vincent. Needless to say I have had enough of Erykah tardiness and won't make an effort to attend her concerts. Even though I love her music she have no respect for her fans.

    Erykah played for an hour

by Bonestein on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Something fishy went on with this concert. I've seen Ms. Badu play for 3+ hours but at this concert, she ended around 10:30 after playing for a little over an hour. I'm not sure when the Bowl tells its performers that they need to get off the stage but 10:30 is definitely on the earlier side. She didn't even do an encore or anything. I mean, she's still great but I was surprised by how short her set was. St. Vincent was trying too hard.

    What an unexpected bummer

by Tobyutley on 9/2/15Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I know St Vincent has a loyal following but pairing her with Erykah was just dumb. The majority of people in my section were bored annoyed or just plain distracted listening to St. Vincent. Once that was over we were so grateful. When Erica came on it was close to 915 and she played a little over an hour should.. She was awesome as expected and the crowd was so on her side. But she played for such a short time that it really wasn't her show it was a shared bill. had we known that, I doubt we would've attended. A little over an hour playing does not make a full show for the headliner.
