About

Austin, Texas...Eric Johnson has been traveling on a prolific odyssey over the course of more than four decades. Along the way, his creations have encompassed repertoire that cross pollinate genres which include rock, blues, jazz, fusion, soul, folk, new-age, classical and even country. Inevitably, E.J. says it best in sharing, "It really boils down to the music and the song at the end of the day", he explains, "If it doesn't have that it gets boring for me. The most important thing for me is to grow musically and make a more expansive and meaningful artistic statement with every new project".

During the pandemic, the Grammy-winning guitarist, vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist released weekly donation-based "Mini Guitar Lessons" benefiting Food Banks across the country and worked in the studio on previously un-released tracks and new recordings. These tracks resulted in the release of 2 new albums entitled "The Book Of Making" and "Yesterday Meets Today" in July of 2022 on Blue Élan Records. The purchase of both albums includes the keys to a third album, "Takeouts" which includes unreleased and alternate recordings of songs available as an exclusive download.

Throughout his career, Johnson has approached music as a healing force, a way to enhance the listener's consciousness, and conjure joy and inspiration. More than a year into the Pandemic , and because of the Pandemic, he reflects that this approach has become reinforced and more enhanced.

The 2023 Treasure Tour will feature some of his previously unreleased gems, some older classics and some new soon-to-be favorites.

    Disappointing

by TNHater on 8/28/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Eric seemed so consumed witht the technical aspects that it didn't come across as him having any fun at all. He played to this bass guitarist and drummer more than he did the audience. I think being in the studio so long has put him out of touch with his fans.

Eric Great! Jake Andrews not so great . . .

by guitarman333 on 8/28/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Eric and band were very, very good. Do wish they would have played "Cliffs of Dover" though. Jake Andrews (the opener) was not so hot. Poor tone, songs sound the same.

Eric Johnson / Alien Love Child

by mdrummern on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

The show at The House of Blues "Houston" August 26 was great. It was my first time to see a concert at HOB. It is probably one of the best venues to see show, the sound was amazing and it is a beautiful place.

by Gstandard on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

I've now seen Eric 5x. each time he just blows me AWAY. he did it again Wedneday night. his "Wind takes Mary"(Jimmy Hendrix) was just beautifull. his Ah VIA Musicom is usually a preludge to his signature song. but then he went right into "Are you experienced"(Hendrix). kind of different

    Eric Johnson still strong!!

by longdrive325 on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Eric Johnson put on a great show showing he still has virtuoso talent after several decades. Good mix of new and old songs and very good guitar sound in a great personal venue.

    Amazing show but...

by Afunk45 on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

No cliffs of Dover! Knowing that this might have been my only Eric Johnson show I was a little bummed that he didn't play that or mahnhattan. Still agreat show nontheless. Opening band wasn't bad and Eric really put on a he'll of a show. The section where it was him on solo guitar truly exemplified his guitar prowess which is legendary. Also, I felt the volume of the show was geared toward an older crowd. I mean I was in the front and at a concert am usually expecting to get blown away by the energy of the sound, my favorite part of a rock show. This concert seemed to turn it down from 11 to 7. Stll an amazing show though.

    Johnson Jolts HOB Houston

by goodbangfbuck on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

I was surprised by the opening act, totally refreshing. Other than a loud reverb amp, I'd go out of my way to see them again. Eric & ALC cam on about 9:15 and played through 11:00 not once missing a lick, chord or fret. His fingerwork is beyond comprehesion. It left this frustrated guitarist in total awe, sort of when the Joker in one of the early Batman Movie said, "Where does he get those toys?'' The crowd was short of a sell out, perhaps the economy or the fact that it was a school night had something to do with it, but those who did come were well entertained by a master craftsmen. His Jimmi Hendrix tribute was beyond belief, I almost flashbacked. We look forward to his next session and release.

    Eric Johnson was the man!

by HoustonMusicLover on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

Jammed it out, lots of solos and lots of blues. Jammed some Jimi Hendrix songs and they were perfect. He is a good singer too. No Cliffs of Dover tho :(

The man can do no wrong with a guitar!

by JimmyTrojanowski on 8/27/09House of Blues Houston - Houston

There's little to say other than Eric Johnson is rightly considered one of the greatest guitarist on the planet. This was my second time to see him but have been a fan for years. The man's ability to deliver the clean and perfect sounds and tones of a studio recording when he's live is simply unbelievable. This is a show I believe anyone would appreciate and enjoy. If you've never seen him live, treat yourself and be enveloped in a full assault of sound, harmonics and overall pure guitar genius.
