About

Eric Hutchinson in Concert

Eric Hutchinson's soulful, hopeful pop has been wowing audiences since he independently released his breakthrough album Sounds Like This in 2007. Propelled by instantly hummable singles like "Rock and Roll" and "OK, It's Alright With Me," ‘Sounds Like This' set iTunes Store records for independent artists and made him a household name. In the years that followed, the Maryland-born, Boston-launched crooner contributed songs to ‘Grey's Anatomy' and ads for Microsoft's Windows 10, and he toured endlessly, sharing bills with high-wattage artists like inaugural ‘American Idol' Kelly Clarkson and emo-pop act Jack's Mannequin.

After embarking on a much-deserved hiatus from touring in 2016, Hutchinson felt refreshed. He and his longtime touring band The Believers reconvened to make ‘Modern Happiness'—this was the first time he brought The Believers, who fill out his powerpop vision with rich harmonies and amp up his already-high energy quotient onstage, into the studio. The band proved to be perfect foils for Hutchinson as he worked on his fifth album, helping him fill in the gaps of songs like the Beatles-esque "She Could Be the One" with their vocal and instrumental contributions while also letting him work on new music that was marked by lyrical honesty about life, love, and what it truly means to be "happy."

Hutchinson began rolling out songs from ‘Modern Happiness' in January 2018—one a month leading up to its October release. In September he branched out into gaming, using his extensive musical knowledge and concert-honed party-starting skills to ‘Songversations,' a card game designed to get people talking about why they love the music they love.

Love for music is a big part of why Eric Hutchinson remains a great live draw. He has a strong rapport with his band and an even more unbreakable bond with his fans, and his musical growth on ‘Modern Happiness' will only strengthen those two links.

    Super good

by ZippityDoo on 12/19/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

It was super good. Hutchinson has an incredible voice, is a wonderful story telling and can improvise easily before getting back to his song. So talented. My wife wasn't that familiar with his music and was really impressed. We both had a great time.

    Tristan Prettyman is Amazing!!

    by NAM5 on 12/8/14Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

This is the 5th time I've seen Tristan Prettyman in concert and she's simply amazing. Nick Howard was a great opening act and he really set the tone for the rest of the concert. The venue was extremely cozy and worked really well for all three of these performers. I can't recommend Tristan enough! She has such positive vibes and a great outlook on life.

    Great concert! Go See!

by Americanidle23 on 11/21/14Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Eric was energetic, clear voiced and fabulous. The concert was moved from a large seated venue to a much smaller standing only one. Eric still gave it his everything, got the crowd going and we all had a great time. The sound was great. The band really helped highlight Eric's voice and lyrics without overwhelming him. I would go see him again in a heartbeat.

    Show was on a Tuesday

by dirtetimo13 on 11/21/14Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

It's tough to be excited about a concert on a Tuesday. I was really hesitant to go, but it was totally worth the LONG Wednesday. Opener was amazing, Tristan was solid, and Hutch was awesome. Great show in a fun venue. Aside: Menopause the Musical was playing in the theatre at the same time. All three acts had some great comments about that.

    Eric made our night!

by WeLoveEric on 11/21/14Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

My best friend and I decided to get tickets to this concert on a whim, a random Tuesday evening, and we are SO glad we did! We had a blast! Eric is such a great entertainer! He's funny and produces great music! To top it off, on the encore song "Forever", he ventured to the floor where everyone was and we ended up dancing around with him as he sang his song. So. Much. Fun!

Great, great show in a small venue

by Scott30041 on 11/20/14Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

If you have the chance to see this tour, go. Go. Go. Go. Great performances by all three artists. - we were happy to have the chance to discover Nick Howard and Tristam Prettyman was as good as we hoped. EH brought the house down - great energy and interaction with the crowd. Would see him again, for sure.

    Eric stunned in the ATL

by HeatherRR73 on 11/17/14Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Easily one of the very best shows I have ever seen. Truly an amazingly talented musician. The venue was small with friendly staff. Mr. Hutchinson could stun an audience with nothing other than his hands clapping and that amazing voice. The second he picks up a guitar or touches a keyboard, it is a whole other kind of blown away. Thank you Eric for an amazing evening!

    Amazing!

by kieleantra on 11/17/14Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

All of the performers were amazing during the concert. A great mix where Tristan joined Eric on stage for a couple songs at one point too. They were all extremely nice as well after the show to take photos, meet fans, and sign autographs. Eric was even nice enough to take a funny photo with me. But the overall concert was worth it!!! The thing I loved the best is they could all sing beautifully live, which you don't always get with some artists.

    Must See Concert.

    by dmo1505 on 11/9/14Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

Eric and his band have done it again. If you're looking for a first date idea, go to ehutch show. If you don't get laid...you didn't take her to the ehutch show. Great mix of amazing songwriting, instrumental expertise, high energy showmanship, cover song mash ups with his originals, and a little stand up comedy too. You gotta check out the show.

Eric Hutchinson was incredible! He has such a great energy on stage and sounds fantastic live. The set list was primarily from the first album, but that was still great since I love his older songs, too. Out of the opening acts, I loved Nick Howard but was less than impressed with Tristan Prettyman. Her vocals and her stage presence left much to be desired.

    Eric is a gem!

by SunnySide22 on 11/7/14Port City Music Hall - Portland

First time I heard his music was a long distance drive, so I had NO idea what he looked like. All I could think was he was one of the most soulful musicians I had heard in a long time....... This concert (as well as all the others) was unforgettable!!! For a skinny white guy (written with loads of LOVE), Eric is a ball of energy and amusement! He never ceases to amaze me, if anything, he leaves me wanting just a bit more because he's THAT wonderful! So THANK YOU ERIC HUTCHINSON!!! You rock, for a white dude! LOL Can't wait to see you again sooooon!
