Eric Hutchinson in Concert
Eric Hutchinson's soulful, hopeful pop has been wowing audiences since he independently released his breakthrough album Sounds Like This in 2007. Propelled by instantly hummable singles like "Rock and Roll" and "OK, It's Alright With Me," ‘Sounds Like This' set iTunes Store records for independent artists and made him a household name. In the years that followed, the Maryland-born, Boston-launched crooner contributed songs to ‘Grey's Anatomy' and ads for Microsoft's Windows 10, and he toured endlessly, sharing bills with high-wattage artists like inaugural ‘American Idol' Kelly Clarkson and emo-pop act Jack's Mannequin.
After embarking on a much-deserved hiatus from touring in 2016, Hutchinson felt refreshed. He and his longtime touring band The Believers reconvened to make ‘Modern Happiness'—this was the first time he brought The Believers, who fill out his powerpop vision with rich harmonies and amp up his already-high energy quotient onstage, into the studio. The band proved to be perfect foils for Hutchinson as he worked on his fifth album, helping him fill in the gaps of songs like the Beatles-esque "She Could Be the One" with their vocal and instrumental contributions while also letting him work on new music that was marked by lyrical honesty about life, love, and what it truly means to be "happy."
Hutchinson began rolling out songs from ‘Modern Happiness' in January 2018—one a month leading up to its October release. In September he branched out into gaming, using his extensive musical knowledge and concert-honed party-starting skills to ‘Songversations,' a card game designed to get people talking about why they love the music they love.
Love for music is a big part of why Eric Hutchinson remains a great live draw. He has a strong rapport with his band and an even more unbreakable bond with his fans, and his musical growth on ‘Modern Happiness' will only strengthen those two links.
Small crowd (Savannah is inconsistent on such things), but Eric is such a great artist and put on a wonderful show with his amazing catalog of fantastic songs.
Fun, personal show. Very entertaining show! He did a solo show, but his music carried well in that format.
He is the best performer and so down to earth with his fans. Loved his show.
Lighting on stage could have been better. But otherwise, truly enjoyed the show.
I have been wanting to see Eric Hutchinson for forever and he certainly did not disappoint! Awesome show, highly recommended! Thanks for coming to see us in Tampa :)
When we got to the venue, we found a spot at the front of the stage to the side. We were excited to be so close because Eric Hutchinson is one of our favorite musicians. The opening act was very engaging and talented. When Eric came out, the crowd was completely enthralled. Everyone was singing along and having a great time. He asked the audience what songs they wanted to hear, which was awesome. He sounded fantastic and we even made friends with the couple standing behind us. Everyone was so nice! After the show, Eric came out to take pictures with his fans. I got to talk with him and get some photos. I just wish he would have had some merchandise to sell with him. We did get to talk with Jesse Ruben, the opener, for quite a while after the show and bought some of his merch. Overall, it was a great time and I will never forget that I got to meet Eric!
Parking around the venue was kind of hard to find since it was all street parking. I liked that the venue was very intimate, which is sometimes better then the stadiums and bigger concert venues. This is my second time seeing Eric. Definitely has talent and a great voice. Would go see him again.
as he usually does, Eric put on a very entertaining show. He played lots of old favorites and a couple new songs. He told a few jokes and a few personal stories as well. It was a great show, and I am looking forward to seeing him again.
Event was very small and intimate. People were so friendly and overall experience was fantastic.
Eric Hutchinson was amazing! The Pantages Theater was an awesome venue to see a concert!
At first we felt held hostage to the new album! But they had great new songs and played a high-energy medley of the classics to close! Excellent.
Eric and his band put on a fantastic show. That's a given. Pantages has some sound issues though that need to be addressed. There were too many times that Eric's sound was muffled. They could turn down the bass and up the main singer's sound.
Brought two friends who had no idea who Eric Hutchinson was and left with two new fans! Added bonus of the night was Magic Giants as openers!
The second time I've seen him and the show was awesome. Both times he has equally amazing opening bands. Check him out if you have the opportunity #06010
Eric is always a great performer. I love love music and his shows are always energetic and enjoyable! Among the best!!
It was a small venue so very intimate. His show was great! First time seeing him... First time of many to come!
Eric Hutchinson never, ever disappoints. This is the 3rd time I've seen him live and he is an amazing performer, his songs are so original and catchy, and it's always a great time. Hope he comes back to Maine soon!
Eric Hutchinson always puts on a great show! He told great stories between songs and interacted so well with the audience. This is my third time seeing him, and I've seen him in many different venues. I love that the Sinclair is small enough (and I was close enough) that it felt like a small show.
Eric Hutchinson was amazing! The whole show was just great. The venue is a pretty seamless process getting in. Wish the bar up front had some of the same beers as the bar out back (namely the two roads hefe!) but they do have a great selection overall and the staff is great too. I would have been over the moon for some food but I suppose that was my fault for not making time to eat before the show.
It was super good. Hutchinson has an incredible voice, is a wonderful story telling and can improvise easily before getting back to his song. So talented. My wife wasn't that familiar with his music and was really impressed. We both had a great time.
