  • Mint Condition was Meant to be Seen

by BigBoneDed on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Rubben was fabulous. My only gripe was that he did not perform more of his own music. It was nice to sing a few Luther Vandross songs, but he should really be promoting his music. Eric Benet, his performance was almost flawless. I say almost because he forgot the words to one of his songs, but he made the best of it and the audience rolled with him. Mint Condition, I have been stalking, I mean following this group for over 15 years and I will never tire of their high energy performances. This group epitomizes what a band should be...multitalented.

  • Eric Benet and Ruben Studdard were awesome

    by missy09 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great except Eric forgot some of the lyrics to Spend my life with you, but he pulled it off. Ruben did his thing especially with the Luther Vandross songs. Mint Condition great music but could hardly hear the lyrics to the songs. Overall the show was great, wish Eric Benet could have stayed on stage longer.

  • save ur money!!!... a hot mess

    by bttrflykissz37 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

my husband & i love going to see live music. i must say this was the most overpriced/ worst show ever... Ruben was great albeit too short... he should have been the headliner. Eric Benet forgot the words to his own damn songs... yeah, onstage "damn i forgot the words"... WTH??? then, Mint Condition... the were a total fiasco!!! first of all, they were screaming so much we could barely make out the words to the songs. they ran around the stage, twirled in circles and rolled on the floor for most of the act. seemed like they were high on drugs or something. really... a lot of people walked out on them. it was A MESS!!! i only stayed til the end because i wanted to hear Pretty Brown Eyes. it was a total train wreck. wish i coulda got my $$ back...

  • Mint Condition & Eric Benet

    by Derdrnr2001 on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Rueben Studdard was the opening act & he was good. I just didn't feel he deserved more than 30 min. He sang 5 of his songs & the rest was Isley Bros & Luther. Eric Benet was next & he was great. His interaction with the audience was good & was really relaxed. He was on for a an hour but didn't sing "Pretty Baby". He could have used Rueben's extra 15 minutes. I am a huge Mint Condition fan & have seen them 3 times in last 3 months. They were GREAT as always. 1 hour is just not enough time for them. They are true artists & performers & give you your money's worth. I can't wait to see them again. It was worth the 2 hour drive.

  • AMAZING!!!! WOW!!!!

by SandyBrewington on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was AWESOME...haven't been to a show at this venue in years...but it was GREAT!!! The sound system was AWESOME also, Eric Benet was GREAT!! even thought he could not remember all the words to Spend MY Life with you, I love the way he kept on trying to get the audience involve. Rubin...what more could I say about him...BRILLIANT, this man has a great music career ahead of him. MINT CONDITION...This band was totally off the hook!!!....they were AWESOME and truly the BIGGEST part of the show. I love the entire atmosphere at this venue and will be back again and again.

  • Eric Benet Was Excellent!

by Micey on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Eric Benet and Ruben Studdard stole the show! They both gave excellent performances, showcasing their voice range and talent. Eric Benet is even more talented than I thought, and a very sexy, easy-going performer. He gelled well with the crowd and we weren't ready for him to leave!!! He can come back ANYTIME (smile). Ruben showed exactly why he's a former American Idol winner because the man can blow! Not many artists can take on a Luther Vandross sang and pull it off, but Ruben did just that (on more than one Luther song). Hats off to these two artists...the show should've been just the two of them so they could have sung a couple more songs. As for Mint Condition, they were a BIG disappointment to a lot of show attendees. They didn't showcase their #1 hits until the end of the show, after playing way too many loud, rock band style songs that we weren't expecting. By the time they got around to playing the songs we wanted to hear, like "Pretty Brown Eyes," people had walked out on them and we had a headache. Most attendees that I spoke to on the way out echoed these same sentiments, so Mint Condition needs to re-evaluate their style and go back to the good ole R&B songs next time if they want the DC crowd to come out to their shows. And what was up with their attire???

  • Ruben tore it up!

by aunthoni on 8/10/09Dar Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Ruben had a great performance!! Eric was good. But for Mint Condition to be one of my favorite bands, they rocked out a little TOO hard for me. By far, Ruben stole the show for me!!

  • Unforgettable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mighty Good show

Great Show great vocalists, nice to see actual singers and not lipsinging

  • Eric Benet and Howard Hewett were FANTASTIC

by zekee on 8/9/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was great and the ticket prices were unbelievable for an entire show of greater than 2 hours. The actual show was amazing. Singers came into the audience to continue performing and all seats in Celeste Center were good seats to see the stage as well as the floor show. Eric Benet even came back for an encore performance.

  • I love Eric Benet

by nanabooboo on 8/9/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

I have never had the chance to see Eric live before. But now that I have seen him perform, I am hooked. Great show!!!!! I was pleasantly surprised. I certainly didn't expect to see such a good show at the fair.

  • ERIC BENET : HOWARD HEWETT was awesome!!!

    by Cookie56 on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Eric Benet and Howard Hewett gave the best performance of the year...

  • Wonderful Show!!

    by DeeR411 on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Howard opened the show in spectacular form, he started out on center stage, but chose to do most of his show in the audience with the fans, and we absolutely loved it. I used to live in Akron, where Howard is from, so I have a special fondness for him. His vocals are still amazing. Eric came out and did his thang. I have been a long time Eric Benet fan, but this was my first time seeing him. I always knew he had a wonderful voice, it was something to see it live. That man can SANG!!!!!!!!!! He is truly a gifted artist... one of the few we have left on the scene. Thanks to the Ohio State Fair Committee for continuing to provide wonderful talent at affordable prices.

  • Eric was fantastic!

    by Spanishfly01 on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

I have been an admirer of Eric Benet's music since his first CD. He has an amazing voice and put on an enjoyable show. He sang songs from all of his CD's during the performance. There was really only one downside to the show. Security needs to do a better job preventing audience members from blocking the view of those sitting on the main floor and in handicap accessible seating. On several ocassions when both artists were performing (either close to the edge of the stage or walking in the audience), many fans blocked the view of those in handicap seating while trying to get a photo opportunity. One ridiculous fan almost trampled me and I was in a wheelchair! An area of the Celeste Center really needs to be roped off for the safety of those need to sit in handicap accessible seating.

  • Ledisi and Mint Condition was wonderful

    by sexy2 on 8/8/09Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

I always enjoy Ledisi when she comes to town. Her high energy will get you going even when you don't feel like being hype. Her vocal range is superb. What can i say about Mint Condition? They're a very talented band who was very rushed into giving us a show. I wish they could've stayed a little bit more. Eric Benet was okay this time. I was looking for his full band like he had at Yoshi's. Singing to a track is not worth the $97 everyone paid to see him!!

  • Eric and Howard - GREAT COMBINATION!

    by jlo2 on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the show. Howard and Eric worked their magic. "Nice job fellas!" ...

  • Solid Talent - No Hype!!

by Sistalady on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Eric Benet entertains without all the bells & whistles of over-production. He actually surprised me by being an excellent vocal stylist... performing his recordings with minimal orchestration, which equates to working dangerously without a net... but Mr. Benet was up to the task and I, for one, was greatly impressed!

  • Eric Bonet & Howard Hewett

    by 40eeezze on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Eric was off the chain and Howard never lost it!!!!!!

  • Awesome Show!

by AngelaT on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great show! Howard Hewett came way down in the audience and connected with the people. Eric bought energy and sang all the hits.

  • Great Performances Both Old & New!

by porterentps on 8/8/09Celeste Center - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Howard Hewett warmed up the crowd with a few of his 70's hits from the old Shalamar days. He was off the stage and singing up close and personal with the ladies for most of the show. Although there were no band or background singers (all recorded) he managed to keep the performance flowing without being boring. He returned to the stage to sing his signature song "Say Amen" to the delight of his enthusiastic audience. Eric Benet, complete with three piece band demanded the ladies attention from the moment he stepped onstage. With his excellent vocals, smooth style and handsome looks he had every woman in the Celeste Center swooning to his every command. When he broke out with the song "Spanish Fly" the whole house intensified as a wave of emotion swept the venue. People got up out of their seats and started to dance in rhythm to the sensuous Latin beat. And then, the love fest began. By the middle of the show he had everyone singing (or wanting to sing) “I Want to Be Loved" and raising their hands in the air and waving like they didn’t care! He finished the show with a nice tribute to Michael Jackson by singing his rendition of "Billie Jean". Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding performances by these two outstanding (audience friendly) singers both old & new
