ERASURE IN CONCERT:
Nearly three decades after their debut, British synthpop duo Erasure continue to reign supreme on dance floors around the world. Combining the production skills of Vince Clark and the soaring vocals of Andy Bell, Erasure dominated European airwaves in the '80s and '90s with a massive string of hits that sound as fresh today as they did 25 years ago. Bell is a legendary live performer, maintaining an infectious energy and positivity as he lends his perfectly-preserved pipes to the love-drunk swoon of "Oh L'amour" and the uplifting message of "Chains of Love". The duo's unforgettable live shows never fail to spark impassioned dance parties among nostalgic fans, and their upcoming dates on the Violet Flame 2014 World Tour will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Erasure was formed in mid-'80s London by former Depeche Mode member Vince Clark and budding singer Andy Bell. Their 1985 debut album Wonderland failed to make much of an impact in Britain, but they hit the big time with their 1987 sophomore album The Circus, which remained on the UK Albums Chart for more than a year on the strength of hit singles "Sometimes" and "Victim of Love". The following year they achieved breakthrough success in America with the Top 20 hits "Chains of Love" and "A Little Respect", both from their third album The Innocents. That album was the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 records for the duo, a streak that culminated with 1994's I Say I Say I Say. With their 16th studio album The Violet Flame hitting shelves in 2014, Erasure will treat fans to a series of electrifying shows in support of the release.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Simply amazing! Erasure kept the crowd happy and dancing throughout the whole show."

Except for the part that the security guys interrupted all of us, asking all the time, not to take pictures or videos. Annoying. All I wanted is to have memories on my phone...
The State theater sound was muddy. Hard to hear the synth parts over the top and some of Andy's stage banter. He still sings well after all these years and the new songs were great, though most of the crowd clearly hadn't heard a song past, say 1995. I really liked the new album's material, personally. So much more mature and thoughtful, though I clearly like the old hits too.
Erasure was amazing!!! Not so much on Reed and Caroline though, I didn't quite understand them and couldn't figure out if they were joking or being serious.
An amazing show complete with exceptional staging. The stage was set up allowing for clear viewing and maximized enjoyment. Andy looked wonderful and he did not fail to deliver a complete list of Erasure favorites with humor, flair and his own special blend of showmanship. Backup singers very stunning and harmonious and Vince was excellent as ever. I was thrilled to be in the packed audience and will be waiting for the chance to see them again. One of the best shows I’ve seen in awhile, I would see them again in a heartbeat.
Great concert!! Lots of energy! A non stop dance party!!
Andy and Vince sounded amazing! An awesome setlist of past and present. Enjoyed the show so much the first night, we came back again the next day! Go see this show!
I have been going to Erasure concerts since 1992, and they still have got it! They put on a beautiful show in Chicago at the Chicago Theater on July 28, 2018. They had a nice mix of classics, crowd favorites, and a handful of new songs from their latest album, "World Be Gone." There were two talented backup singers. The production quality was outstanding, the sound engineering was perfect. We sat in the front (Row AA) and it was not too loud and the sound was balanced and crystal clear. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
If you saw this show for the first, second or last time, it was truly a show that melts your heart. The back stories to some of these songs make it all the more reason to love them. New songs and old song, they just made you believe that you were in the safest place in the world. Their music exudes love, peace and understanding. Love that in a show. It just takes you away to a happy place.
How can I explain when there are few words I can choose? When you see Andy Bell perform there is little question why their career has staying power. Most weren’t familiar with their new material, but it was just as catchy and could easily be added to a current radio play list
Erasure played a variety of songs- most I knew- about 90%. Some I did not know, but I enjoyed the beat and rhythm. I was up dancing most of the time. Wish they had played a longer set because I wanted to hear more, more, more!
Great show! They can still put on a great show after all these years!
Andy Bell’s voice was in great shape. They played a lot of the oldies and about 5 songs friday their new cd. Excellent, fun night!!
Played all the hits and some new ones. Crowd into it and they delivered a great show!
They are masterful at weaving the zillion singles and favorites in with the newer material - it was a great set. I saw them many years ago and the performance is still top notch. While this has been toured/performed a while, Andy's anecdotes and asides made this feel very fresh and unique for Chicago without being distracting. Seeing it in a smaller venue like the Chicago Theatre was also fantastic. Music, Lights, Background singers, sets all fit together perfectly.
Fantastic show. Andy and Vince are as incredible as they were in the 90's. Had a wonderful night remembering my youth. Erasure NEVER disappoints!
Erasure still shines as a live event. They always pick a great set of songs and the energy of the crowd singing along and dancing is refreshing. The Chicago Theater is a great venue for them and it's conveniently located in the heart of downtown Chicago!
The show was amazing. Andy Bell, the lead singer of Erasure was under the weather. They still put on a great show.
Venue was hot for a summer concert. Great there is a bathroom on more than one level and bars for drinks as well. Could have been louder.
The Venue was perfect , you will get a good view no matter where you're sitting. Great times, great show, great performance. Until next time, Erasure!!
