ERASURE IN CONCERT:
Nearly three decades after their debut, British synthpop duo Erasure continue to reign supreme on dance floors around the world. Combining the production skills of Vince Clark and the soaring vocals of Andy Bell, Erasure dominated European airwaves in the '80s and '90s with a massive string of hits that sound as fresh today as they did 25 years ago. Bell is a legendary live performer, maintaining an infectious energy and positivity as he lends his perfectly-preserved pipes to the love-drunk swoon of "Oh L'amour" and the uplifting message of "Chains of Love". The duo's unforgettable live shows never fail to spark impassioned dance parties among nostalgic fans, and their upcoming dates on the Violet Flame 2014 World Tour will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Erasure was formed in mid-'80s London by former Depeche Mode member Vince Clark and budding singer Andy Bell. Their 1985 debut album Wonderland failed to make much of an impact in Britain, but they hit the big time with their 1987 sophomore album The Circus, which remained on the UK Albums Chart for more than a year on the strength of hit singles "Sometimes" and "Victim of Love". The following year they achieved breakthrough success in America with the Top 20 hits "Chains of Love" and "A Little Respect", both from their third album The Innocents. That album was the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 records for the duo, a streak that culminated with 1994's I Say I Say I Say. With their 16th studio album The Violet Flame hitting shelves in 2014, Erasure will treat fans to a series of electrifying shows in support of the release.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Andy Bell is one hell of a performer and had a lot of energy to bring their songs to life...I remember looking around and seeing my fellow concertgoers smiling from ear-to-ear and having an amazing sing-along experience. Definitely money well spent."
"Andy and Vince were awesome. The new songs are great and it was a blast hearing the old songs once again."
"Simply amazing! Erasure kept the crowd happy and dancing throughout the whole show."
Excellent show playing most of the classics, but could have been longer.
Great performance! The venue was incredible and the show was simply amazing and very entertaining.
Erasure still delivers the hits they wrote in the 80s. Entertaining and great for the audience!
Erasure was amazing as always. 6th time seeing them live. The opener was a real let down and should have just been skipped, but Andy and Vince rocked it out.
Erasure put on the best show! They played a lot of their old songs which brought back lots of memories. And they sounded amazing! Even better than when I saw them in the early 90’s.
The concert was great. It brought back so many memories. The only thing I thought was not up to par was the sound. It was good, but I think it could have been louder.
This was my first time to the Sugar Land Smart Financial Centre and was quite impressed. Parking was a breeze, getting in and getting out was no hassle beyond any other typical event, the facility was very clean, well kept, perfect temperature. Sound was good, lighting was good, and seats were good and comfortable. Even though the opening act was beyond horrible and worse than a joke, the main event did not disappoint.
This was an amazing show! They played all the hits, some of the new songs, it was unbelievable!!! One of the best shows I’ve been to all year! Would go again in a heartbeat!
Erasure was awesome! I have seen them 4 or 5 times throughout my life and I can say for sure that every single time i see them, i leave dripping in sweat from dancing the entire time! What an awesome show it was!
Erasure has a great catalogue of songs but their show is essentially the same since the 80's. Vince Clark does not add much to the show, almost all music is recorded, so they should add at least a drummer and a bass to improve the sound of the music. Great vocals as always. The best part was the audience, very loyal and participating fans.
Opening act: Caroline and Reed was painful. This is my 3rd Erasure concert. The previous opening acts were great! This one on this tour was awful. Do yourself a favor, and show up an hour after the start time to avoid the opening act. Erasure (Andy and Vincent and the ladies) were amazing!
I was blessed with the ticket to Erasure for my birthday from my sister and brother-in-law. First of all, WHAT A GIFT!!!!! I saw Erasure in the mid 80s on The Innocents tour. Quite a long hiatus from then to now. I've been a HUGE Erasure fan since Wonderland was released when I was in high school. Well, the World Be Gone tour did not disappoint in the least. Andy Bell is as full of energy now as he was in the 80s. His voice is fresh and crisp and has changed very little. His dancing was as cute and fun as it's always been. And the unitard is his shining trademark. He was also very engaging with the audience. Vince Clark is an icon in the electronic music industry and seeing him live is an honor. My sister and I sang our hearts out as did the entire audience. Never a dull moment! The Smart Centre is an excellent venue for concert going. It's the perfect size. Not small, but not too large to be overwhelming with crowds. It's still an intimate experience. The seats are super comfortable and the entire arena is super clean and modern. The parking is a modest walk from the venue. Nothing like larger venues where you walk miles to and from your car. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The prices on food and drinks are very high, but that's the way it is everywhere. Security was tight, which I greatly appreciate in the time we live in now. I only hope that my favorite 80s bands continue to choose Smart Centre as their venue of choice. It's AWESOME!!!!! What a night!!!!!
Erasure was awesome!!!!! Its my second time seeing them and I would see them again
Great show. Erasure never disappoints. All the classics were there. Would have liked to see one or two more of the newer songs from the last 5 years or so, but when your career spans decades I suppose it's tough to come up with a "perfect" set list. Only 4 stars because of what seemed like a very quick show. I think they did 19 songs, but after seeing some other artists go close to 3 hours lately, seemed abbreviated (I will acknowledge it was Andy's first show back from illness). Also the opener, Reed and Caroline, did nothing for me. My wife enjoyed them, but I felt they were a little too mellow for an Erasure opener. Great music for meditation, not for getting the crowd going IMO. This was also my first show at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, great venue!
Performance was too short. Wish it lasted a bit longer. Only 1 hour 15 min. Also more costumes change like their other concerts would have been nice.
I loved this new venue! Parking was a breeze. Lots of clean bathrooms. Plenty of bars so never a long line. Many beverage and food options. Some drinks were a little pricey but I guess that’s expected at most concert venues.
I like the venue and food over there, it is my second concert at this venue
I loved everything about this concert. Erasure was great! His appearance and voice is as awesome as ever. The venue has the best sounds and lights. Loved it!
Had a great time! Sound was excellent! Performance brought back fun memories!
It was one of the best concerts I have been to in a while. We were on our feet dancing and singing along all night long!
