Beautiful production with memorable performances and outstanding music. Our group had a 12 yo, 47 yo and 77 yo who all felt moved! I would highly recommend!

    Nice music production. Unforgettable

by Kewlsuburban on 3/28/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I would recommend this event. Very refreshing to see a cast that represented the Egyptian and Nubien cultures. Well choreographed dancing and inspirational music.

    Aida Fails to Wow

by Emmaloo on 3/21/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The actors were very good. The singing was a little off at times, but overall, very well done. Aida was wonderful to hear and while Radames lacked the typical rock n roll sound of past actors in the role, he sang the songs in his own way and it worked very nicely. Unfortunately, that is the only thing that didn't have major flaws. The costuming was very nice, for everyone but Rademes. They put him in leather pants and jacket with work boots, while everyone else wore sandals and robe-like attire...like Egyptians should. The set was underwhelming and not very creatively used. The Nubian chorus was completely void of men so it appeared Egypt only had the women captured with Aida. The worst aspect was the choreography. Every song was choreographed for a completely different style from the song. The tough masculine numbers were done in a ballet style that looked so incredibly wrong. "The Gods Love Nubia" was done well, but every other dance break was utterly wrong. As someone who loves Aida, it was a let down to see a show with so much potential fall so short.

    Aida cast is extremely talented

by sillybear on 3/21/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

This musical was wonderful. All of the singers were very talented and the show was well cast. The male dances were a bit staged and uninspired. I did enjoy most of the female dances, but they too were not exceptional. The songs, on the other hand, were very entertaining and touching. I highly recommend this production of Aida.

The Aida cast was difficult to understand

by jopojojo on 3/19/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The cast did not ennunciate words well enough to understand further back in the small theater at Drury Lane, in Oak Brook Terrace. At times, the play actually became boring. Some of the cast members did not give it their all...others did an excellent job of performing. Many cast members made audience eye contact, while others stared at the back wall. Hopefully, by the time the real critics come and write about the play next week; those cast members that need to... will improve. Also, please turn the bright lights to angle towards the floor slightly instead of directly into peoples eyes.
