I thought the musical was missing something. It did not hold my attention the way I thought it should. Music all seemed the same.

    So so

by musik1 on 5/2/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

AIDA at Drury Lane left us disappointed. The story is mediocre, and the music, while upbeat does not compare to other Elton John music. The lead had a great voice, but other voices were just OK, and the dancing could use improvement.

by Shnibildybitz on 5/1/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I took my 10 yr. old daughter for a daddy-daughter day and we had a blast! We had front row tickets so were able to see all the wonderful actors close up. The show was just Great! Dancing, singing, acting was all first rate. We loved Aida and will make a tradition of seeing shows at Drury Lane.

    Could have been better

by Zuzzy on 4/19/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Not all bad - it is an awesome musical - very well done by Elton John and Tim Rice, however, this was far from a Broadway performance. I did not expect the set to be like Broadway, but I did expect the singers, choreography, and costumes to be better. If they would only listen to the original soundtrack and if they had seen the Broadway show, they could have made many improvements without a lot of expense and without being a complete copy. By the way - where were the French Horns ??? They should have a least tried to mimic them with with the keyboard

    Birthday Gift Was a Hit!

by StJohnIndiana on 4/18/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Took my wife for her birthday to dinner and to see Aida and an overnight stay at a local hotel. It was a great trip and the show was fantastic! My wife and I both enjoyed the singing and dancing. What a talented bunch of people!

    Actors in Aida were superb

by Fran40 on 4/16/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Loved Aida; the singing was first class and the actors made the play as entertaining as any I have seen this season; the love triangle may have been set in Egypt but it could have been anywhere--tragic yet so interesting and contemporary a story; every age group can have fun seeing this performance; though the subject of balancing personal love & desire with family loyalty and obligations to country dominated, there was a lot of humor in this play and a stunning ending.

    Aida - Great Talent!!

by KMB345 on 4/16/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I thought that there was amazing talent in this play. The talent level has been a little lacking at the Drury Lane Oakbrook lately, but this did not disappoint!!

    Great show!

by FanFather on 4/11/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I took my 23 yr old theater major graduate, my 9 yr old daughter and wife. We all enjoyed the performance and the music. The cast did an excellent job. I would recommend this to anyone not wanting to go downtown or to New York to see a show

    One of the best

by djrew on 4/11/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Aida. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Over the past 50 years, I have seen almost every musical in NY, London, Chicago and Minneapolis. This was one of the best. The set was simple and unobtrusive. The costumes were fabulous. The costume changes were great. The dance scenes were amazing. The four main characters were every bit as good as any on Broadway.

    AIDA

by kweenliz on 4/5/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The music was GREAT! The performances were excellent. Very close to the broadway version of AIDA. The setting was the only think "lacking", but they do so muc with it, you dont really notice. I just loved the performance...My 10 and 9 year old daughters loved it as well. What a rare occasion where they can dress up and go to a theatre so "beautiful" (as my daughter put it). Drury Lane is an inexpensive way to introduce your children to theatre! I would definitely go back again!

    Aida good, not great

by ceci6490 on 4/4/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

We went to the show with two teenagers. All and all we enjoyed it, but were not wowed. The theater was comfortable with great acoustics, the music and singing were worthy of Elton John. On the other hand, the script was a little hard to swallow, the characters failed to convince.

    Aida singers were remarkable!

by view2C on 4/3/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The performers did a marvelous job with an intriguing story. The music was not particularly interesting which surprised us considering it was written by Elton John. The dancing was good and little humorous moves made it even better. The stage was simple but transformed easily to portray different aspects of the play. Bravo to all!

    Aida

Incredible mix up different music styles; rock gospel, r&b and contempoarry urban. Stepanie Umoh and Jared Zirilli were awesome.

    Aida was all right

by KirkPete on 4/1/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The singing was amazing. My wife and I just wished for more change in the stage, and a bit more story/dialog in between all the songs.

    Aida - Wonderful vocals!

by BrianonMorse on 3/29/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

We saw the original in New York, so our expectations were very high. The vocals, particularly for the leads, are solid. The slave ensemble singing - amazing. There were some limitations in the staging set by the Egyptian poses, but an interesting concept, nonetheless. Overall, though, beautifully sung and a staged.

Dissapointed in the production. The first time I saw Aida was in Chicago many years ago right before it went to broadway and it has since been my favorite show. For this production the stage was plain except for a glass pyramid that kept sliding in and out of scenes, usually for no apparent reason. There were several other details that did not impress me and overall it reminded me of a college production but with a much higher ticket price.
