BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
DeGeneres' career began as an emcee at a local comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her acting career in television included roles in several successful sitcoms before being offered a part on "These Friends of Mine" by ABC. Following the first season, the show was renamed "Ellen." The first initiative of the fund is to build The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. The campus will permanently secure the future of wild gorillas in Rwanda by building on successful field conservation efforts, while empowering the people living near the gorillas to thrive in relationship to their own ecosystem. This project gives Ellen the opportunity to carry on the legacy of her hero, visionary scientist Dian Fossey, joining her as a protector and champion of the critically endangered mountain gorilla. DeGeneres has also brought awareness to the anti-bullying issue by creating a PSA titled, "Be Kind." Overall, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has raised over $50 million for various causes, including global warming and breast cancer awareness.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it wasn’t long enough. An hour of Ellen is never enough! Loved the show!
Ellen delivered just the show you would expect. Her lighthearted conversational style was laced with clever observations and clean jokes. From everyday issues to world issues, Ellen has a way of being very human, very likeable and very relatable. She helped us laugh at ourselves by not taking herself too seriously. Ellen is an inspiration, during this show as always, to be happy, grateful, proud and kind. Go if you want a good laugh!
It was hands down amazing! Worth flying across the country for.
Ellen was amazingly herself in an intimate setting where you laughed a lot and left feeling inspired.
Younger fans may only know of Ellen as an American Idol judge or a talk show host, but she was a hilarious standup comedienne before that. Decades ago, I was fortunate to attend a few of her shows when she did standup. I feel very blessed to have been able to catch her on this very short comedy tour. In addition to her being hilarious, the show was light hearted, warm and touching. She still has the touch!
She hasn’t done stand up in 15 years but she is just naturally so funny! She can joke about being rich without being arrogant about it which is amazing. Love her!!
The show was everything I expected and more!! Ellen was super funny, relatable and inspiring! Hoping she goes out on tour more often?!?
Ellen was on top of her game! Had us laughing so hard we were in tears.
She was funny, but not hilarious. I felt bad for the people who paid tons of money for it to start late, go for 45 minutes and then about 15 minutes of questions to her but only from those who sat in the front. She refused to acknowledge the upper balcony even existed. It was advertised for 2 hours but the entire building was empty long before the 2 hours rolled around and that was with starting late and everything. I was glad to mark it off my list to see Ellen in person but a little disappointed with the overall show.
Ellen did not disappoint! She was spot on funny and we were glad so glad she didn’t talk politics! We cried laughing and were super excited after being upgraded to 4th row seats after having the unfortunate luck of only obtaining last row orchestra in the far corner! Definite must see!
Just as I suspected she was hilarious and absolutely worth seeing live.
It is amazing to see the world through Ellen’s eyes. She looks at the world and finds the comedy in the simple and mundane.
Ellen was fabulous! Kind, genuine and relevant. Venue seats uncomfortable. Otherwise great.
Loved this show. I liked that it was funny along with some life lessons and stories on her triumphing. I think it will be an awesome message when it comes out on special. Especially for younger people who are trying to figure out their sexuality. The only thing that I thought was a little long winded was in the beginning where she was making jokes about the “fancy things she had” for me it was a couple minutes too long. Other than that(which was still funny) . GREAT show. I laughed so hard my abs were sore the next morning! Glad she is back doing standup!
I went to her first and second show and was able to get front row tickets to the second show! Not only did my stomach and face hurt from laughing, but we made eye contact throughout the whole show. On top of that, I got 3 minutes of Ellen’s undivided attention during the Q&A portion of the show. I could have just died right there getting the chance to talk to my idol! Everyone will love this show!
It was more about her life and less about comedy. I thought it was going to be funnier.
The show was to start at 8 pm and NOT allow anyone to leave during the show. Well, it was about 20 mins. late and folks did get up during the show. In addition the show was much shorter than presented - all in all about one hour. Ellen was good and enjoyed her very much. I would suggest more jokes and less history (read most in People magazine) and NO question time.
Ellen lived up to my expectations. She was funny, kind, and covered a wide range of material. I appreciate the fact that she doesn’t base her jokes off of making fun of other people. The first hour was stand up and super funny; the second hour was a question and answer portion which didn’t have the same pace or humor to it. It would have been better if the staff would have screened the questions prior to people getting the microphone. There were a couple of uncomfortable awkward obsessed fans that didn’t add anything to the show. Overall highly recommend!
Not worth what the high price, its was just ok and short
The only thing is It was advertised as a 2 hour show. She came on stage 10 or 15 minutes late and ended at 9:15 with the standup. One Hour??? then of course 15 minute of questions. Way too short.
