BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

DeGeneres' career began as an emcee at a local comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her acting career in television included roles in several successful sitcoms before being offered a part on "These Friends of Mine" by ABC. Following the first season, the show was renamed "Ellen." Earlier this year, with the help of her wife Portia de Rossi, DeGeneres established The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, which supports global conservation efforts for critically endangered species. The first initiative of the fund is to build The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. The campus will permanently secure the future of wild gorillas in Rwanda by building on successful field conservation efforts, while empowering the people living near the gorillas to thrive in relationship to their own ecosystem. This project gives Ellen the opportunity to carry on the legacy of her hero, visionary scientist Dian Fossey, joining her as a protector and champion of the critically endangered mountain gorilla. DeGeneres has also brought awareness to the anti-bullying issue by creating a PSA titled, "Be Kind." Overall, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has raised over $50 million for various causes, including global warming and breast cancer awareness.

    Ellen DeGeneres

by moosecabinmama on 8/13/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Ellen's show was pretty good and she was obviously playing to adoring fans. The show was advertised as being 2 hours long with no intermission; but in reality it was only about 1 hour long followed with about 15-20 minutes of Q and A.We were somewhat disappointed that it was a lot shorter than advertised.

First tour performance a little flat

by Nuanced on 8/13/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Ellen’s shared a little more of her personal feelings of coming out in Hollywood with this tour but pretty much the same as her weekly show. I was hoping for more edge in live performance.

    Ellen is hilarious

    by JDHarris1957 on 9/17/17talk show - burbank

With the Holiday's upon us so is Depression for many. Either watching Ellen on TV or actually being part of the Audience, clapping, smiling, laughing and feeling all over good can certainly help ones mental state of mind for the Holidays. I want to attend a show and bring my husband who recently turned 65 and was forced into retirement last month, 1 year early and he needs a pick me up. Ellen has the ability to cause even the saddest person to laugh. :) I attended one show years ago when Kanye was the musical guest and had my Mom with me who has since passed.
