This I felt was falsely advertised and I heard several others around us same the same. It is just what it says and nothing more. There was nothing theatrical about it and hard to focus on the orchestra with just watching a movie. It was was over priced
Was my first time at an orchestra show and it was great! Will be back for another show
It was an overpriced experience that we couid have enjoyed at home.
When I first booked the tickets I thought it was a play. I was disappointed at first but the live orchestra was awesome with the movie .
We enjoyed Elf in Concert. It was a great experience.
This was a great event. 6 guests ranging in age from 13-63 all enjoyed the show. It was easy to get through security, get concessions, and find seats. LPO music was a great addition to the movie ELF. Would do this again.
I was extremely disappointed to discover that this "Live"show at the Wang Theatre was really just a live orchestra playing along to Elf projected on a big screen above the Orchestra. Absolutely shameful marketing that resulted in two disappointed kids who thought they were seeing a play.
We thought this was the live play of Elf that we saw last year. We did not realize it was just the movie. After speaking with many of those around us we were not the only ones that thought this. Some people actually got up and left. Very disappointed
These days you have to read the fine print for everything and unfortunately I didn’t read the full description before buying what was essentially $100 tickets to see Elf movie on a big screen with an orchestra playing for less than a quarter of the performance. Since Elf the Musical is a common holiday production at this venue I feel they greatly took advantage of folks like me who assumed Elf would be the musical playing again. None of the advertisement pictured an orchestra and it wasn’t until half way into the description that there was mention of playing the movie with live score. Many patrons were very upset and two days before Christmas was just sad example of bait and switch advertisement.
Initially I thought this was a play . Soon I realized it was the movie with the LPO playing the music . I love this orchestra so figured it would be worth it to hear them play along with my family's favorite Christmas movie . Unfortunately , we were all left disappointed . The orchestra was playing so low that you had to look at them to see if they were actually playing . They just blended with the movie so well that it was hard to differentiate whether the music was coming from the movie or from the orchestra . While the credits rolled at the very end , they sounded amazing !!! No words so they played extra loud I guess . Maybe this isn't the right kind of movie for this . I heard they played for the Star Wars movie and it was fabulous . Live & learn . Not worth the price we paid though :(
I was disappointed I don’t think the price of the tickets should be as expensive as a play when it was just a movie playing on a screen with an orchestra - the orchestra was wonderful tho
I should have read the details before ordering the tickets. I assumed we were seeing a play/musical vs the actual movie playing accompanied by live orchestra. It was the most expensive movie I have ever been to!
The music was great, but I thought it was a musical. Way too pricey to watch the movie on a big screen.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin with what I thought was supposed to be a musical, which has been occurring all throughout the country. So of course, I walked into the Wang theatre with my family of 4 expecting a magnificent play (you know, with actual people), and let's just say that is NOT what came of it. You see, I myself and apparently many others were expecting an actual PRODUCTION with ACTORS, you know, ACTING OUT THE SHOW. So you could imagine my surprise when I walked to my seats and see an orchestra on stage and the opening screen of ELF on a big screen. Adding onto my already existing dissatisfaction the orchestra scarcely played and were, no joke, WATCHING THE MOVIE! This event was extremely disappointing and underwhelming for both my family and, self-evidently, a substantial portion of the audience as well. “Elf in Concert” was a glorified AMC screening and I would highly advise you to steer clear of this event.
I didn't find the movie very funny - just kind of dumb. The orchestra eas incredibly good, though! Much better than the movie. I stayed for the orchestra. The orchestra should come back to accompany a better dramatic movie! We sat way in the back of the top balcony. Back there, the top of the projection screen (this the film) wasn't viewable because the ceiling lighting obscured the top of the picture.
We were expecting a live show only to arrive and find out that they were playing the movie on a screen.
Waste of a lot of money. Myself and many many others did not realize this was a movie played on big screen with a live orchestra. Congrats to the orchestra but I would not have purchased of this was not misleading
This was the showing of the 20 year old movie elf on a big screen. Not a musical. Expecting lots of people to be really mad as they were walking out of the show.
I hate to give it 1 star, but the reality is I had no idea we would just be watching the movie on the big screen with the orchestra playing below. These sentiments seemed to run true for many in our area. For $75 per person we could have stayed home and watched it on our big tv.
