About

Elf The Musical, inspired by the hit film, is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, a young orphan child whose life is changed forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa's sack of toys one Christmas Eve. When he discovers he is human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and, in turn, helps the Big Apple rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. This all-new tour, based on the acclaimed 2024 Broadway production, was hailed by The New York Times, which said, "The show has CRACKED THE CODE OF ALL-AGES COMEDY, the kind that will leave children and grown-ups equally helpless with laughter," and celebrated in The New Yorker, "It's enough to MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS." This modern-day holiday classic, says The Daily Beast, "is a gift for kids and adults, and a very 'sparklejollytwinklejingley' night out!"

  • Just as Enjoyable as the Movie

    by Icma45 on 12/11/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This show was very entertaining and does a great job of getting people back into the Christmas spirit. Will Ferrell will go down as the best Buddy, but the performance by Will Blum doesn't disappoint. He has great energy and is able to sing, dance, and tell a funny story in a very entertaining way. The remainder of the cast offers wonderful support and guarantees you'll leave the showing feeling good that Christmas season is here!

Not a terrible show but definitely not worth the $120 per seat.

  • Elf was just OK

    by CNM1952 on 12/11/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I went with 5 other people and 4 of us thought Elf was just average. My 15 year old daughter thought it was "stupid" (and she loved the movie. ) The dance and song routines were something you would see at a highschool production. We enjoyed the holiday colors and music, but didn't think it was worth the money . I was disappointed in the quality of this production.

  • Don't Bother!

by karlandmarcie on 12/11/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

This show was plodding, unimaginative and almost totally lacking in entertainment value. Scene of the Santas singing the blues was the highlight, relatively speaking. Very disappointing, as our whole family attended and were hoping to gain even more holiday spirit....that certainly didn't happen, although a few folks got a nap in.

  • Elf was very good!

    by jingles6 on 12/11/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

We loved the show, but I was disappointed with several sexual innuendos! If it is a kids' show, why are they necessary?

  • Elf the Musical was MAGNIFICENT!!

by kbloom on 12/10/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I could feel the energy from the actors to the audience. I felt very connected to the show! It was like I was front row! All of the actors were so AMAZING! Buddy was so funny! I have a feeling that Santa was doing a lot of improv< which was extremely funny! So glad I came and saw this Musical! The songs were so funny and very enjoyable! Thank you for putting on a GREAT production!

There were some nice singing and dancing scenes with well done choreography. Some lines of the show seemed like they were trying to be funny, but were not. Although, there were some that hit it dead on. I DID NOT like the scene where Elf notices Jovi decorating the tree, and the store manager tells her to take her out, show her a good time, and get her up to bed. The "up to bed" part was rude, and with so many kids in the audience, inappropriate. Also, a couple of other lines that did not fit the show were, Jovi saying she would not be so "bitchy" and Deb saying "Screw Jenny Craig." The move Elf and the story, do not hold those sorts of crass comments in them. I am not opposed to that type of content in shows or movies, but sometimes it just doesn't fit. And it definitely DID NOT fit this show. I also did not like the personality portrayal of Deb. I didn't expect her to be the same as in the movie, but the personality just didn't work for me - sorry! Overall I think the show was well done, but really I think it was some of the writing that I did not like.

  • Elf was delightful

I attended the show with my 7 year old and my husband. We pick 2 holiday shows a year and this one was a winner as it was appropriate for kids and adults. The actor who played Buddy was really good and the sets were great.

  • Cute holiday show. Great for kids. Overpriced.

by Berraberro on 12/10/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I was really looking forward to Elf to help get me into the holiday spirit and it did not disappoint. I was super cute and followed the movie pretty closely. The voices, sets, and costumes were all good although not mind-blowing. I think, for the price, I might have selected a different show. However, if you taking kids or buying this as a holiday present I would recommend it.

Great show. Every character made the musical a great experience. The kid, mom and santa performance was great. Buddy and Jovi charters portrayed them very well!!

  • Great for the Holidays

by fenwayb on 12/10/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We were at the 8 p.m. show this past Saturday. Cast, costumes, set were all spectacular! If you have young kids take them to the earlier show. The mother and 2 kids in front of us left at intermission because the kids were tired.

  • Great show!

by JennyIlllinois on 12/10/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

It was silly fun! Voices were incredible! Buddy reminded me of Mike Meyers not Will Ferrel. I think he was charming and wonderful! Great family show! And they did some new things not in the movie that I really liked!

  • Elf was great

Elf was very entertaining, very upbeat. Great way to start the Holidays!!! Great family entertainment.

  • OK show, Uncomfortable Theatre

by LOBK on 12/9/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Show was OK, not great. Very good acting, singing, staging, but way too long for the number of kids in audience and no memorable songs. Did help get us in Christmas spirit. Theatre itself is very uncomfortable and items sold during intermission made noise around us during act two.
