About

Elf The Musical, inspired by the hit film, is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, a young orphan child whose life is changed forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa's sack of toys one Christmas Eve. When he discovers he is human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and, in turn, helps the Big Apple rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. This all-new tour, based on the acclaimed 2024 Broadway production, was hailed by The New York Times, which said, "The show has CRACKED THE CODE OF ALL-AGES COMEDY, the kind that will leave children and grown-ups equally helpless with laughter," and celebrated in The New Yorker, "It's enough to MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS." This modern-day holiday classic, says The Daily Beast, "is a gift for kids and adults, and a very 'sparklejollytwinklejingley' night out!"

  • Elf was so so

    by KitKat99243 on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Overall, the play was cute, but there was a lot of over acting. The woman who played the mom and the woman who played the secretary WAY overdid it to the point that it was irritating. The other characters were ok. I guess it's worth seeing it in the lower priced seats, but even my kids didn't think it was that great.

  • elf was fabulous

The talent throughout the Elf performance was outstanding. It was able to cross generations And entertain young and old alike. Would recommend it to others as well.

  • Good with small children

Will get you in the Christmas spirit. Good for small children. Awkward going with just adults.

  • Elf was overrated. Bad cast

    by Vincenzo74 on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

The actor who plays Buddy the elf was too flamboyant for the character. I could not warm up to any of the characters. There were only a few good scenes but I would just stick with the movie. This musical really makes me appreciate the movie more. Save your money at least the Chicago version.

  • Mom, itt wasn't like the movie

If you are planning to see this stage version of Elf and expecting it to be like the movie, well don't bother. Both of my young boys were disappointed that it didn't follow the movie. Of course, there were a couple of parts that were similar. The lead was completely channeling Jimmy Fallon. I like Jimmy Fallon, but not as Elf. On a positive note, the kid who played Michael and the guy who played Walter Hobbs were fantastic.

I was disappointed that the writers of elf felt they had to include the subject of homosexuality into a family show. The "homosexual couple" was not necessary.

  • Not worth the ticket price

Took my teenage boys to see Elf for a family holiday outing. They LOVE the Will Ferrell movie version and although the stage production did include some classic lines it couldn't live up. We live in the suburbs and have seen many of shows at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theater. I felt like this production of Elf was something we could've seen there for a fraction of the cost. Then I wouldn't have felt so bad about the times I dozed off during the show!

  • Super fun!

My husband and I took our teenage daughter and our exchange student to the show and we all enjoyed it! Nice theater and great performance to enhance the Christmas season! Paid extra for the suite package, nice but not really worth the money.

  • Elf was perfect

by Battistafamily on 12/16/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time at the Elf musical. The adaptation from screen to stage worked perfectly touching points on some of the most classic parts of the movie. Cast was great, venue was beautiful and it was a great holiday evening for our family.

  • Elf The Musical was really bad

by Anonymous on 12/16/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

Same jokes as the movie but Elf was annoying. Jovie was bothersome. Especially upset about the talk about no Santa Claus. We had kids there. My 9 year old was bored and 7 year old fell asleep. Don't waste your money, just watch the movie.

Really enjoyed the show. Nice why to get into the Christmas spirit!

  • Elf was forgettable

by kaitiensteve on 12/14/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

Amature production was geared towards little kids. The movie its based on is funny and my teenage children have always enjoyed it but this play is nothing like the movie its based on. Definately not worth the money, felt like we were watching community theater!

  • by Anonymous on 12/14/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The play was rather boring in many parts. The story line was weak and they did a poor job developing any of the characters.

  • Great for all ages!

by Elflover on 12/14/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Whether you're a fan of the movie or not, you'll probably get a kick out of this musical! It's great for kids, but I loved it as an adult as well! I'd definitely recommend if for anyone :)

  • I love smiling, smiling' my favorite!

Funny musical, like the movie. The lead actor did a great job of playing buddy the elf. Would highly recommend.

  • Elf was adorable

by Britnay on 12/13/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

A great musical for the whole family. The songs were cute and catchy yet the jokes were mature enough for adults. Recommend for anyone who loves the holidays!
