One of the Best Hot Tuna shows I ever experienced!

by meatstick79 on 6/26/14Pine Belt Arena - Toms River

Hot Tuna never disappoints! This was a killer show right from the opener, Hesitation Blues, it was a pleasant surprise to see Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams as special guests. Larry is such an underrated string player & Teresa wailed on my favorite Hot Tuna cover Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning! It's been too long since I've been to a Hot Tuna electric show and was blown away at how well these old heads can jam!

    Hot Tuna was tight!

by Catsfin on 6/25/14Pine Belt Arena - Toms River

They are pros and have it down great. Please consider turning down the music a tad. Many of us had our ears hurting. Leon was ok. Love his songs but some of his lyrics were difficult to distinguish. Venue was ok but shud've had nicer seats for $100 up front and a small beer concession would've been nice. :) Oh btw, theresa has some powerful voice. Loved her.

The concert was great. Hot Tuna was on all night. They added a girl singer who was good and added to the performance.

    Great show

by gregglaugh on 6/25/14Pine Belt Arena - Toms River

We saw this show because of accidentally seeing a poster at Surf Taco a restaurant we only o to on occasion. Bad advertising for this event. Anyway, we have been fans of Hot Tuna and Jefferson Airplane since Jefferson Airplane Takes off. Loved every minute, Leon was good, but I'm afraid it is time for him to retire.

    Hot F-ing Tuna!

by BillyRoss on 7/29/13Whitaker Center - Harrisburg

Wow. This is the 4th Hot Tuna show, and they don't cease to amaze. Jorma was incredible, and Jack was absolutely amazing. Great song selection, and they totally rocked the house!

    Hot Tuna was disappointing

by joeslifeinpa on 7/29/13Whitaker Center - Harrisburg

well, was really looking forward to the as billed Electric show. but putting a pickup on an acoustic guitar does not make it an electric show! and the band managed for years without the guy with all the little guitars. as a long time fan I went to see the material that made them what they were. but very few old songs were played, and those that were, were butchered. I realize that they are old, but they could have performed their material better. heck, Jack on bass and the drummer were awesome! guess I just don't appreciate they're new "style", whatever it is.

    Hot Tuna was SMOKING!!!

    by ManhattanMama10021 on 7/9/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg

Jorma and Jack still has what it takes to bring an audience to there feet. The band was excellent. The music - the best I've heard in quite a while. Nothing like seasoned musicians jamming for a few hours. A good concert is one you never want to end. Hot Tuna as great as I remember then.

    Hot Tuna -from "the Budman"

by Budski on 7/5/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg

Traveled from NYC to see Hot Tuna! Saw Hot Tuna at the Sherman one year earlier. That show was the reason I returned. This show was good but not as great as the previous year . Reasons: There were bright ceiling lights left on during 2/3's of the show. This was annoying and took away from the atmophere. There was NO lighting on stage at all until the last or second to last song. What happened ? Last year we were able to enjoy the open space close to the stage. This was an extremely nice way to get close the band and meet all the GREAT Hot Tuna fans from PA. This year seating was increased up to the stage. (I undertand why, to pay bills) Oh well, glad I had that one great experience ! Hot Tuna as a Band still ROCKS! Would I come to the Sherman again? Yes I would. I loved the town and the venue.

    Electric Hot Tuna was incredible!

by DWsGirl on 7/3/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg

I had a great time at Hot Tuna! This was the first time I have seen them and they were amazing! The music was incredible and I loved that you could tell they were just having so much fun up there playing together. I will keep my eye out for them to come back. This was my first time to the Sherman Theater. The seating was great - it looked like you had excellent views from no matter where you sat. I will definitely check out other shows there as well.

    Hot Tuna was great!

    by Sparkplug12345 on 7/2/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg

The set was great, special guest Steve Kimmock played 2 songs with them. The theater was intimate. The only complaint I had was that it was very hot in there. There was no ventilation, the air conditioning didn't work well. The lobby was nice and cool. Would definitely go back.

    Hot Tuna Was Electric!

    by CCat61 on 6/6/11Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg

I've seen Acoustic Tuna, I've seen Acoustic Jorma with Barry, but this show blew the others away! General admission put me up against the stage in front of Barry and I could read the names on each guitar/ mandolin. The new LP was featured and sounded great; of course I picked up my copy. The band was tight and really feeding off each other, I'm not sure who had a better time, the audience or the band. They are four very talented musicians, including the drummer, Skoota Warner, who I had never seen before. In short, it was a fantastic show in a really nice venue.

Hot Tuna were HOT HOT HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Retired2010 on 10/3/10Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

After 50 years of playing music together Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady are one of the tightest duets in rock/blues music!! Jack's bass solos rival most lead guitar solos. The introduction of Barry Mitterhoff who plays a varieity of stringed instruments such as mandolin, ukelele, banjo, etc etc etc although different than Papa John Creach was a nice addition to their ensemble. It's obvious that they enjoy playing together and it's amazing how effortless but outstanding their performance is.

    Jack Rocked!!

by SouthparkJimmy on 10/3/10Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Show was awesome!!!!!. Jorma and Jack were smokin. They always compliment each other. Jorma kept his "long sleeves" on for the whole show. Jack got down to t-shirt after 2 songs. Jack just stole the show. He was rocking, moving, and groovin. Audience went crazy. Jorma as always put on a first class performance One of the best shows with them I've seen, and I've been going since 1973. The theater was excellent. Crowd was mixed, but lots of older types there. They played for around an hour and 45 minutes. I came in for the last 2 songs form the opening act, and they were good. Thanks Hot Tuna

    Hot Tuna

by Kadmia on 10/3/10Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Mixing was terrible, could not hear vocals. Hot Tuna played fairly well but I think the lead guitarist should get out of his bed clothes and make himself more presentable as a performer.

    Hot Tuna Electric

by AJSCA on 10/3/10Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Hearing a concert at the Uptown Theater in Napa was like a step back to the older days of seeing two good bands at a reasonable price in a small setting. First time for me at this theater. Bill Kreutzman's Seven Walkers was like hearing a mini Grateful Dead show for one hour. They played seven songs with four Grateful Dead songs. Excellent versions of Deal, I Know Your Rider, Bertha and a wonderful New Orleans style version of Death Don't Have no Mercy with the keyboard player bringing out his trombone. What a way to open a show. I had not heard Hot Tuna electric since the mid 1970's so it was a great surprise to hear them put on a wonderful show. Jack and Jorma still enjoy playing and playing in the same band together. Barry on electric mandolin added a unique sound to the show which lasted 90 minutes with one song encore. And the drummer fit in perfectly for the uptempo beat of Jack and Jorma. In fact Jack so very animated while playing his traditional base guitar. And Jorma showed why he is still one of the best rock guitarist still playing with his 70th birthday coming up soon. The music flowed perfectly from the band with no low points in the show from start to finish. And they ended the set with an excellent jam song that let each person show off their musical skills including the drummer. The band came out for one song for the encore to end the show.
