El Vez Tickets

This was my third time seeing Los Straitjackets, and they never disappoint. The Xmas themed show with El Vez was a fun time from beginning to end. He and the Elvettes were better and funnier than I had expected, and the many costume changes did not take away from the truly great muscianship that is a hallmark of a Los Straitjackets concert. If you don't mind standing shoulder to shoulder for hours the Double Door is an okay venue with very good sound. I knew my wife could not take the close quarters for 3 or 4 hours, so my son and I went and had a great time. I have seen Los Straitjackets feature 3 different vocalists (Kaiser George and Big Sandy the other 2) but the main reason to see them is still their fun fiiled and great sounding guitar sound.

First, a tip for those not used to Chicago or Wicker Park: Park and Ride. The Blue Line is easy to navigate, and the Damen stop is across the street from the Double Door. There are no lots in Wicker Park, only street and valet parking. I missed the first 15 minutes of the opening act, the Knuckledragger (I think that was the name), so that threw me a little. They had an interesting sound, almost as if they were a rock amalgam of every halloween movie soundtrack. It was almost hypnotic, but in a good way. I'll be looking them up later. Los Straitjackets do not disappoint! I wasn't expecting them to be playing together with El Vez. If you're not familiar with El Vez, he's the mexican Elvis, completely nuts, and had trouble keeping his costumes on. I can't say I'm a fan, nor was I, but he did perform well with Los Straitjackets. The Elvettes were great... they really made the most of the El Vez performance. Did I mention that Los Straitjackets were awesome? They were, and I look forward to seeing them again.

I really enjoyed the show, I thought it was very positive & very entertaining. The costumes were very pretty & El Vez did a great job in singing. He was pretty funny & the Straight jackets were amazing, the drummer couldn't have done a better job nor the guys that played the guitars, very talented! The girls were beautiful & did a wonderful job in singing & playing out the scene. I most definitely will recommend this show to my friends.

my first time seeing Elvez. I enjoyed him, but the crowd and venue weren't the best to see him. Although, if you get a chance to see him, please do. He is one in a million and very funny!

Awesome show! Can't wait til he comes back to nyc..

my christmas holiday is now complete after seeing the mexican master shaking his bad self for us boppers and jivers at the bowery ballroom!!! long live the king!!!!!!

El Vez is awesome. The Elvettes are smokin' hot and Los Straitjackets rock. El Vez is the greatest entertainer you've never heard of.
