EL TRI IN CONCERT:

In 2013, influential Mexican rockers El Tri continued their decade-spanning reign over Latin American music with the release of a Grammy-nominated new album, Ojo por Ojo . Releasing more than 30 albums over the last 40 years, El Tri have carried the torch for a generation of Latin rock bands, becoming as legendary for their hard-rocking live shows as they are for their recordings. Featuring drum solos, costumed Aztec dancers, and the preening showmanship of frontman Alex Lora, the band's 2013 tour dates were equal parts substance and spectacle, building excitement for another round of shows in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by singer Alex Lora in 1968, El Tri released their first 15 albums as Three Souls in My Mind before changing their name in 1985. The band's early work consisted mainly of English-language covers of American rock songs, however the changing attitudes of Mexico's youth culture led the band to begin performing songs in Spanish in the '70s. The shift struck a chord with disgruntled young rockers, boosting the band's popularity and leading to a string of working-class rock albums throughout the '70s and '80s. With the release of Simplemente In 1985, El Tri became the first Mexican rock outfit to score a gold record, setting the stage for their ever-increasing popularity throughout North and South America.

VIP was not a good idea!!!

by elirokera on 11/28/16The Anaheim Convention Center - Anaheim

it was general admission but the VIP part was not a good idea because at this kind of concerts we just dont like VIPs we all like to hang out together n feel the struggle of going all the way to the front, back or middle w/out a fence and start the mosh pit at any place in the concert. Its just a way that we do it at this kind of concerts that is why i like them because i can go anywhere i like, you meet new people and if you get tired we just go to the side...there is no need for a VIP!!!!!!

    Mago ROCKED!

    by JamesS4 on 11/26/16Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

It was great to see Mago again. Singer sounded as great as ever! Rata Blanco was awesome too. Only down side, too many opening bands. Would've liked to seen a longer performance from Mago. They did go a great job of minimizing the time in between performances though, gotta give 'em props for that.

    Most Entertaining Band by far

by Hearts96 on 2/26/15House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

Contemplating whether you should go to see El Tri or not? GO!! Alex Lora sounds great and so does the band. 43 years together and going strong! Now I see why! With catchy songs and many laughs in between songs (explicit language- beware if you are offended by this) but all in good nature. I am not the biggest El Tri fan but I do enjoy their music. They are a Spanish Rock legend and you simply cannot afford to miss this show. We paid extra to bump up to VIP seats but well worth it! Hands down, the most entertaining band I have seen live next to Victimas Del Doctor Celebro!

La Banda mas perona del Rocan Rol!!!

by tCastle66 on 2/25/15House of Blues Sunset Strip - West Hollywood

Kept the crowd screaming, clapping and bouncing all throughout the event. It was the awesomest! We did have an issue with the (Pass the line) tickets we purchased. We spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how to redeem that credit towards drinks and memorabilia. We asked bar tenders, waiters and security. A waiter upstairs went and got i assume the supervisor and she helped us. Turned out that the ticket stubs we received from the cashier were the wrong ones. Oh and the spinach artichoke dip is awful! Sorry.
