Too...too funny!!! Arnez J doesn't even have to say anything to get me laughing. Eddie was hilarious and got serious a few times with some interesting comments on several subjects. Don't miss them next time!!! * * * * Peace.

  • Eddie Griffin kept us in tears

    by CuddleUrs2 on 4/26/10The Venue - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie was so well versed in his comedy. He touched on all the current events and even though I never saw his reality show, I felt so informed that I think I really missed a good reality show and those are something I never watch, We laughed continuously for the entire 90 minutes. He provided sound advice in areas that many of us talk about; yet not to the masses. Heck he even gave a health analysis on smoking cigarettes. Who knew? I can't think of topic that he didn't touch on; he even took conversation from the audience without interepidation or antagonism. Many comedians can't handle that. Eddie was a charm!

The show was really funny, Eddie was very funny. The opening act was not so good, but Eddie made up well for that mess-up. You get your money worth and then some with Eddie Griffin. He put on one of the longest comedy show's I have ever been to, and every minute was entertaining . Would I go see him again?....Definitely!!

    by Anonymous4you on 4/26/10The Venue - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show!!! Money very well spent! Eddie really connects with the crowd. He did a little tribute to the old school comics that are no longer with us - that was a nice touch. he also brought his grandfather out at the end, and he did his own little bit!! Very creative, very funny, would recommend to everyone. Check him out!!

Eddie Griffin is one of my favorite comedians since Richard Pryor. I knew he was talented, but my God, the man surpassed my expectations. He was hilarious! He had me laughing from the beginning to the very end. I really had to show some self control or else I would have been crying from laughing so much. I can't wait to see him again. I wish him the very best. Much love.

  • Belittling the opening comic...for what?

by Improvcop on 4/26/10The Venue - HammondRating: 2 out of 5

I sat in the barely half-filled Venue Theater when, about five minutes after the show was supposed to start, it DID…VERY abruptly. With people talking, walking, & buying drinks from stands on either side of the room out of NO WHERE the announcer said only this: “Ladies & gentlemen, coming to the stage….Marz Timms!” No House-Lights, on-off flicker or dimming to usher in the fact that people should take a seat and pay attention to the show they’d paid for. Just “BAM”! People finished their conversations, finished buying their beverages and the just-arrived people sauntered to their seats like it was SIX-thirty instead of SEVEN-thirty five. In fact, people kept arriving in mass even into Mr. Griffin’s entrance. All of that went on while the opener attempted to do his routine. He was a trooper and kept things rolling, managing to get more than a couple good bits in before the “Apollo Theater” effect came upon some audience members who started yelling at him and booing. After he left the stage, Griffin emerged and said, “SO…y’all couldn’t find ONE funny *MF* in Chicago?! What the *F* was that?” He needlessly continued to berate the man at least five minutes before he went into his routine. His routine WAS rather funny, but more of the same ethnically stereotyped foul-mouthed humor that always seems to “please”. Like a “fart” joke STILL makes you laugh, his tirade, laden with the *N* word and *MF* in practically EVERY sentence, was gritty enough to please, but nothing CLOSE to innovative or fresh. In fact, a bit regarding a heroin using uncle more than reminded me of Pryor’s heroin-user character “Motif”.

The Venue is a beautiful place, the seats were very nice and comfortable. The opening act could have stayed home but from the moment Eddie stepped out on the stage I laughed so much till I cried. Eddie was worth the money I was very pleased. Keep up the good work Eddie and the Venue.

  • Eddie was a trip! Loved it!

by MzUniqueFaye on 4/25/10The Venue - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

At the beginning of the show they did send someone out on stage, (I don't even remember his name) but he was not funny at all and took up too much time, that's when the booing started... But when Eddie brought his cool funny #ss out, I couldn't stop laughing. The man had me rolling laughing with tears coming out of my eyes. We were laughing so hard, just stomping our feet and having a great time. I know me, my sister, and my cousin didn't want the show to end. Eddie was fool and he didn't hold anything back. It was an amazing show! Loved the Bernie Mac and the Richard Pryor tribute, and especially loved the way he made jokes about his life experiences including the intimate ones. What a d@mn fool!!! If I could I would see him again. And I didn't even have one drink...LoL
