  • Great Jokes, Shaky Host

by Anonymous on 3/2/11Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

Eddie Griffin and George Wilborn were wonderful...their jokes were original and right on time. The guy who served as the MC/Host was questionable to say the least, his jokes were not funny and he spent too much time on stage. Other than the shaky MC/Host, I highly recommend the event. I would definitely be willing to see both comedians at other events.

The show was the best live comedy I have ever attended. Eddie is the best after Richard Pryor.

Eddie was great, if you have the chance go see him, ticket prices were resonable, and the show lasted 2 1/2 hours. Well worth the money!

Awesome show! Only drawback was intermission for 20 mins before Eddie Griffin showed up on stage. But, he did go overtime which was great for everyone! Please do this venue again Eddie Griffin! Anchorage needs to laugh more!

Overall the comedy show was worth every pennie. I don't think I would go to another event at the Eagan Center. The parking sucks! We got there an hour early didn't get into the On time.

Eddie was in rear form here in Anchorage. He left us in fits of laughter and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. We all braved the cold to see the show and I must say it was truly worth it. Thank you Eddie, come back soon!!!!

  • EDDIE GRIFFIN WAS GREAT

by eskimocandy on 2/21/11William a Egan Civic and Convention Center - AnchorageRating: 3 out of 5

Eddie is always a great comedian. It seemed like the time was short, he was asked to stop because of some regulation? He wasn't ready to stop, he kinda kept going. I only problem was the seating, if you were short, and had a big person in front of you, it sucked!! my brother in a different area had the same problem. it would have been nice to be in a stadium setting.

  • Eddie Griffen was really funny!

by Alaskancouple on 2/21/11William a Egan Civic and Convention Center - AnchorageRating: 5 out of 5

The show was wonderful, the only thing that sucked was the fact that it started 1 1/2 hours late. Don't know who to blame for that. I also liked the fact that when he started making jokes about republicans and it wasn't being recieved well, he changed tracks quickly. Loved him!

  • Eddie Griffin was great!

I wasn't sure how funny he'd be in person, but he was fabulous! The 1st opening act was different and the second was really good. Altogether, the show kicked off more than 30 minutes late. When Eddie came on he was well received, even given the late starting time. He was all over the place with the subjects, no group or subject was safe. There was a rather obnoxious person in the row in front of us, screaming out and trying to get him to respond. After the second or third time, Eddie acknowledged him and used what he said in his routine. The next time the person started heckling him, Eddie confronted him in a way that made the guy shut up so the rest of us could enjoy the show. I would definitely go see him again, no matter the venue.

We sat there for an hour an a half before the show even started. He was funny at times, but not worth $175 for two tickets. The seats were so close together and if anyone behind you talked, you couldn't hear the comic. Maybe waiting until 9:30 for the show to start when it should have started at 8 we would have not been so critical.

  • Eddie Griffin comedy show in the AK

by PatiCakes on 2/21/11William a Egan Civic and Convention Center - AnchorageRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome crowd. Eddie certainly did not leave anything left to the imagination. He was right on Keel !!!!! He did run late getting on stage...... Not sure if that bit into his routine, and if so it went unoticed. I am EXTREMELY greatful I DID NOT MISS this event....

Eddie Griffin himself was okay; there were periods were he was quite funny and others not so much. But if you come to an Eddie Griffin show, you should already know what to expect. He has not mellowed or changed much through the years. I appreciate the fact that even though he came on stage late, he delivered his full performance. Overall, the logistics of the show could have been better. The show was advertised as starting at 8:00 pm, it started 25 minutes late. While I appreciate giving local talent an opportunity to perform before a local audience, I could have done without it. The break between the first and second opening acts was unthinkable in my mind since the show had already started 25 minutes late.

  • Eddie was the man

by STROMANAK on 2/21/11William a Egan Civic and Convention Center - AnchorageRating: 4 out of 5

This was a awesome time. Surprised the wife with tickets to this and she was amazed. He was very much full of energy. Would have been nice if it was longer and less of the openers

Me and my partner enjoyed it. We haven't laughed so much at one event as we did this one.

  • Eddie was awesome

by MarcusTP on 2/21/11William a Egan Civic and Convention Center - AnchorageRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie came and put it down! He did a great show, he stayed on stage a acceptable amount of time. He did some stuff I hadn't heard before. He was hilarious. Then he showed up to the meet and great afterwards and was super cool, took pics and signed autographs! Only knock on the night was the seating. Seating was very tight, to the point where it was uncomfortable. Otherwise GREAT SHOW!

  • This Show is HILARIOUS!

by popsamillion on 2/15/11Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

It was a bit of a rusty start with the opening acts, but after the first act the jokes kept getting better. The way they tell their jokes will make you jump out your seat in laughter.

  • George Wilborne was good?

by Tock on 2/15/11Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

Eddie did not seem to be as entertaining as I believed for first time seeing. George Wilborne was good for first time seeing.

  • Ok, but definitly could have been better.

by coleycole on 2/15/11Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 2 out of 5

The show was good, but I thought Eddie's opening act was much funnier than he was! The opening act was halarious!!!!!!! Eddie not so much. Eddie told numerous jokes that I had heard him tell on TV before, his jokes were all on pretty much the same topics as his opening act, and his whole schpell about Christians I found offensive and not funny at all, most of the audience didn't either, I mean the show is in NC right in the middle of the Bible Belt......Everyone is intitled to their own opinions but I thought he could have done better than that.....Also, he was much funnier at the beginning of the show, towards the end i think he got a lil tipsy or something......Anyway though the show was fun overall, but if it wasn't for Eddie's opening act and his hosts, it would have been a complete disappointment and waste of money!
