About

Raised on the Bakersfield honky tonk of Buck Owens and traditional country like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Dwight Yoakam has created more than a dozen studio albums of his own self-described hillbilly music over nearly four decades. On his 2012 collection, “3 Pears,” the Kentucky-born performer reached out to Kid Rock and Ashley Monroe of Pistol Annies for co-writing help on a couple songs, while Beck co-produced the successful set.

Ticket buyers know a slew of Yoakam singles when they head to his concerts — from the chart-topping “Guitars Cadillacs” from the similarly-titled 1986 debut and “I Sang Dixie” off of 1988’s “Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room” to 1993’s “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.” And when he’s not on the tour bus canvassing the nation, the singer/songwriter may be on a movie set. His acting credits include critically acclaimed roles as an abusive boyfriend in “Sling Blade” and a psychopath killer in “Panic Room.”

    A night I’ll treasure forever

by Jess on 5/13/24Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - Shreveport

I purchased these tickets as a Christmas gift for my brother, this date specifically because it was our late father’s birthday. All being music lovers we celebrated him in true fashion. I sang Dixie brought tears to my eyes, and for a moment I believe our dad was sitting right there with us. Dwight brought it all, the music, the moves and the energy. The only was to top this would have been to have my brother meet you! I don’t know a bigger fan, a true fan of the music and the man. I waited too long to do this and I kick myself for that. I would definitely see him again and visit this venue again. The history of The Louisiana Hayride included in his show, a reflection of where it starts and to always make your way back around. 10/10 for sure.

    Long time Dwight fan!

by Jackie Rome on 5/13/24Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - Shreveport

It was an awesome concert! Dwight's still got it from his signature "dance moves"to his guitar playing to his distinct "old school country music"sounds! His band was excellent, especially the multi-talented guitar / mandolin player on stage! We appreciated Dwight paying homage to the Louisiana Hayride and the Shreveport venue. His comments were very sincere and the Hayride heritage is something we in Louisiana are very proud of. Great concert at a great venue!

    GREAT SHOW!

by Fertitta on 5/13/24Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - Shreveport

I’m not a big country guy, but I dubbed this year as the year of concerts…one every month. I knew that Dwight has been around for a long time so I figured he would put on a great show for his genre. WHAT A GREAT SHOW IT WAS!! All of these guys were on top of their game and were quite impressive. I’m VERY GLAD that I went to go see the show. THANKS for the show Dwight!!

    Dwight's Comeback!

by Kid from the 90's on 5/13/24Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - Shreveport

Upon entering the Municipal Auditorium, the staff was helpful and courteous. We had to wait till almost 8:30 for the opening act to start which wasn't too bad, but they were not that good vocally; instrumentally they were really good. It was almost 9:30 before Dwight started which after he explained was fine, but I wish there was an announcement so we would have know if we could go get drinks or go to the bathroom and know that we were not going to miss the opening of him. Overall, the concert was great and Dwight has not changed one bit; we absolutely loved it!

    Great performance, poor acoustics.

by Tshane on 5/13/24Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - Shreveport

See above. Also, the ticket takers had trouble validating our tickets. We wasted 20 minutes with that.

Good Headliner, but not for ADA seating

by Dee on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

We had to endure an hour of the early entertainer during which 60% of the audience drank too much. We were in handicapped seating against the back wall which reverberated the sound system. The seating was not raised. The way the seating was arranged it created a walkway in front of our seats. We had to endure loud talking by people who would stand next to the exit and we had to protect ourselves from those who staggered through to get their next drinks. The main headliner started at 9:40 pm. This was 40 minutes of resetting the stage for the main performer. He was very good but we could see nothing since the audience stood throughout the performance and we could not. I could have bought all of his albums for the $200 we paid for seats and played them on a good audio system and enjoyed it more without making the extreme effort it took us to go to hear him.

    Bakersfield

by Jasper on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

Great venue. Easy and safe adjacent parking. I first saw him at the Orpheum almost 9 years ago. I think his voice has gotten stronger. His band is very talented and versatile. The lobby is too small of an area to sell a performer’s merchandise especially as fans exit the building. Very congested. Management needs a creative solution to make exiting the Orpheum a smoother process. Beautiful building !!

Dwight was superb, opening act…. Not so much

by Nicholas on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

Dwight performed amazingly! When I bought the tickets, there was no mention of an opening band. In fact I never saw any indication that there was an opener. I would not have arrived at 8:00 if I’d have known. I would ask for the promoters and the venue to make that more clear in the future. Other than that, the main act was great and the sound mix was fantastic. However, Dwight’s amplifier for his guitar was malfunctioning. Not sure if that was his problem or the venue’s.

    Horrible Sound

by MichelleM on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

Was so excited to see Dwight Youkam at such a historic venue. Had seen him many times before and he puts on a great show. The theater sound was so bad. Could hardly hear him singing over the instruments. The mics key ringing out. The opener had even worst sound levels. Will not be retiring to The Orpheum in New Orleans.

    Dwight still has it!

by Susan S on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

He came on rockin' and didn't stop for about 90 minutes. His voice was strong and his band was tight and had some virtuoso players. Played a great mix of songs. We loved every minute.

    Way too loud

by Pfink on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

Dwight was awesome, but the sound was terrible and way too loud. Thankfully, they were handing out earplugs.

    Too drawn out

by Leigh on 5/12/24Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

It’s a Thursday night.. assuming when it started at eight with no other headliner listed he would start. No it was more like 9:30 and after 11:30 when we decided to leave b4 show was over. Had an hour drive home!

    Palpable Electricity, Phenomenal Energy

by Rinny on 4/30/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

This show simply blew me away. Dwight's voice has not diminished with age--he sounds just as clear and rich and beautiful as he did when I was listening to him on the radio in the 90s. I love how one song blends into the next so the energy never dies. I love how he is still wearing the tightest jeans possible and scooting his boots all over that stage. His band is electric and interactive with the crowd--they look like they are having a ton of fun up there and giving it their all. We couldn't stay in our seats--their energy was contagious and the time simply flew by. 10/10 would recommend and 10/10 WILL see again. Add Dwight to my very short list of performers not to miss when he's anywhere near my proximity.
