Even if you have never heard of the Zappa legacy, you would find this to be a most entertaining show. I highly recommend it. If you are a musician, you will be absorbed to the high level of musicianship. It's a MUST See for musicians. I extremely recommend it. The band is ultra tight!
These were 6 of the best musicians I've ever seen playing some incredibly complex music in near-perfect synchronization for 3 straight hours. I went in very excited to hear all of this music performed live, but the level of musicianship in this band was beyond any expectation I could have had. The also brought out several special guests including: Warren DeMartini Vinnie Colaiuta Tal Wilkenfeld Robert Trujillo All in all, it was an incredible night of great music played by fantastic musicians with a few special guests to make it that much more fun.
The band was tight and the music was great. It's always good to hear zappas music live. Dweezil always does a great job and schiela was amazing as usual.
Great concert as always. Just like Frank, Dweezil never lets you down. Great venue, 650 seats, all with a good view.
Dweezil and his band did an amazing job of honoring his dad's music. It brought tears of enjoyment to me and my wife, and by the looks around me everyone. Genesee Theatre was a wonderful place for a concert also. Thanks to all.

Musicianship was amazing and the band was full on the best of the 3 Z plays Z shows I've seen.
The show was fantastic. The sound was excellent and not distorted at all like some venues. I would definitely see this show again. It's rare to see that many extremely talented individuals on one stage at the same time. Very tight, very clean music.
Dweezil Zappa and his band are the finest group of technical musicians playing in a band live in concert in this country today. Paying homage to his father by playing complete albums of his work to the exact note is impressive and brilliant. Dweezil is a fine guitarist and his band is multi talented and entertaining.
Dweezil and his band did a really good job covering Frank's music. There is no genre that covers Frank's unique style and sound but they tapped it perfectly.
Dweezil Zappa does his thing...technically masterful guitar work! A fitting tribute to his demigod father's reign on the earth. Play on Dweezil, we love you!!!
Not such a huge Zappa fan, no cd's or albums. But this show was out of this world. Everyone in the band was top notch super talent. I don't care what your musical tastes are ( I mean you need to like rock) you will be amazed and floored by this band. Would make every attempt to see them again.
I love it when the quality of performance clearly shows the members of the band have put in work. Clearly, a great deal of rehearsal goes into a Zappa Plays Zappa show. Timing, precision, tempo changes in the middle of songs executed with all instruments in sync. I enjoyed every note and every moment!
Dweezil never disappoints and is one of the best guitarists around. He always has an amazing band with him and he brings Frank's music to life. It's too bad there wasn't more fans there. If you are on the fence about seeing this show, please go to one. And bring a youngster that knows and appreciates good music. The genius of Frank must live on, and I can only hope that Dweezil continues to do this.
The best concert I seen in years, Outstanding band members made me missing Frank. Dweezil has evolved into an outstanding Guitar player and possibly even better than Frank. I can't wait to see if Dweezil's new album shows his writing chops are on par with Frank Zappa.
Another great performance by Dweezil and the band! This group is busting with tallant and I just love going to see them. This is show 7 for me and I will continue to go until they hang it up. LOVE LOVE LOVE this show!

Being old enough to have heard some of these things with Frank and the Mothers, it was a bit of a homecoming with Dweezil and his amazing Zappa plays Zappa ensemble. That they are able, through skill sets and technology, reproduce with 6 people what many times needed twice that was the first surprise. Everyone sings, everyone except Dweezil doubles or triples on instruments, and he's best used right where he is, ringmaster and lead guitar, just like Dad. He's become an astonishing player, nuanced and every bit as fluid as Frank, though I'm sure he'd disagree. Better still is his dedication to this music and its value. And that dear reader is where your chances are running out. This show wasn't half sold, though the crowd was very appreciative. But with numbers like that, this tour's days are numbered, meaning the only place in the world to hear this intricate, difficult hilarious and even joyous music is heading into their final stand. Could we all chip in and set them up in residence somewhere. Franks stuff needs a permanent home.
Zappa Plays Zappa was the best concert I have been to in a long time. They played the "One Size Fits All" Album almost note for note. It sounded just like FZ and the old band were performing it. Then they played a bunch of old favorites and extended versions. Dweezil Zappa is a guitar master. I hope they come back next year.
