Symphony Orchestra was worth the visit. Music was very good. Parking situation was very good as well. The Skywalk get you out of the cold early. As a student, I really appreciate the discount for the tickets. Thanks for the experience!

    Amazing performance

by DJBTC on 12/12/14DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

I thought the symphony was a wonderful performance. The narration of 'Twas the Night before Christmas, the performance of the song from It's a Wonderful Night and the sing along with the candles. I am hoping this will be an annual thing so my family and I can start a tradition of going to Duluth that weekend to enjoy the many festivities in town.

Bentleyville at the symphony was incredible

by Mattrancher on 12/8/14DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

The evening was perfect. The decorations were beautiful, and the only song I had hoped would be included was "Christmas City of the North". Your lights spelled that out. I am sure channel 6 would have given permission--it belongs to them, I believe. I told my daughter that when I retire, I should join your choir. That would be awesome! I also wish you would sell a CD.

    Out of this world!

by Jepstr67 on 10/14/14DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

This was a stunning performance. The music was flawless and the addition of projections brings the classical music listening experience into the 21st century. The review of the history of the space program touched many memories from my youth. Holst The Planets never disappoints! The only drawback to the excellent performance is the hall. The seats are really too close together and quite uncomfortable if people are next to you. I can't imagine ho uncomfortable bigger people might be!

Enjoyed the evening immensley...The round the world tribute was a good depicting of each area...my favorites were the taost to the Emeral Isles as in Danny Boy...and a salute to our own New York City made one want to fly off your seat just to get there...I thought the Viola section was particularly enjoyable, they seemed to really be enjoying it also...It added a lot when the Director told a little story about each piece. .Could you please do a similar concert each year...Variety is the key...!!

    A Stellar Season Opener

by Hannah0357 on 10/1/13DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

The DSSO had a stellar season opening. The Overture to Candide was spot on! The energy of the orchestra and the new conductor was soaring. The Grieg Piano Concerto completed the first half with the audience riveted. Mahler's first symphony completed the program with absolute finesse. Bravo DSSO! You deserved every one of those standing ovations!

William Close's Earth Harp and MASS

    by chris8677 on 1/5/13AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

Show was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the visual aspects of the show as well as the unworldly singing of Rafe Pearlman. How this man is not a household name escapes me!

An awesome sounds event. The broadway show tunes played by the symphony were delightful. The earth harp unique and captivating. Overall, a great way to bring in the new year. I look forward to next years concert.

Great performance, great offering! I love that this event included an attraction such as the world's largest earth harp. It was fun to hear such unconventional instruments in a more traditional setting such as with an orchestra.

    Earth harp- Mass Ensemble

by Mawie on 1/2/13AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

This was a fantastic event to behold! We enjoyed it so much. The acoustics in the arena were not optimal in our opinion...it was difficult to hear the vocals clearly and the symphony did not have the "full" sound it normally does. The energy of the event outweighed these inconveniences however. Stunning!

A New Year's Eve in the Earth Harp to Remember

by JNurm on 1/2/13AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

It was a night to remember. I attended the New Year's Eve Symphony celebration with my best friend (who had never been to the symphony), embraced good friends that I haven't seen in awhile and made new friends. We truly enjoyed Israel Malachi and Bill Bastian, especially their blues music. Then the DSSO began to play and when Dirk Meyer and his group joined we were speechless!! They were right, "You ain't heard nothin' yet!" The surprise of the night was when the young couple next to us left their seats and then we saw them in the flash mob! It sure gave us a giggle. My friend said he never thought he would enjoy a symphony as much as he did. He was so excited he had to call his daughter and share it with her! We hope the DSSO makes a DVD of it because we would buy it! I heard others say the same. We would love to hear the DSSO play together with Dirk again. It was all Amazing!
