Dropkick Murphys proudly remain Boston's rock 'n' roll underdogs turned champions. Since 1996, the boys have created the kind of music that's meant to be chanted at last call, in packed arenas, and during the fourth quarter, third period, or ninth inning of a comeback rally. Their celebrated discography includes four consecutive Billboard top 10 album debuts (2021's Turn Up That Dial, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory, Signed and Sealed in Blood, Going Out In Style), along with 2005's gold-selling The Warrior's Code featuring the near double platinum classic "I'm Shipping Up To Boston." Whether you caught a legendary gig at The Rathskeller (The Rat) under Kenmore Square, found the band by taking the T to Newbury Comics to cop Do Or Die in '98, discovered them in Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning The Departed, or saw 'em throw down at Coachella (or one of hundreds of other festivals), you've become a part of their extended family. Dropkick Murphys' music has generated half-a-billion streams, they've quietly moved 8 million-plus units worldwide and the band has sold out gigs on multiple continents. In 2020, the band was one of the first to embrace streaming performances, starting with their Streaming Up From Boston St. Patrick's Day virtual performance. It was followed by last year's landmark Streaming Outta Fenway livestream, which drew more than 5.9 million viewers and held the #3 spot on Pollstar's "Top 2020 Livestreams" chart. Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick's Day Stream 2021...Still Locked Down, was #1 on Pollstar's Livestream chart for the week ending March 22, 2021, logging over 1 million views. Dropkick Murphys return September 30 with their first-ever all-acoustic album, This Machine Still Kills Fascists (Dummy Luck Music / [PIAS]), followed by their first-ever seated theater tour kicking off in late October. This Machine Still Kills Fascists breathes musical life into mostly unpublished lyrics by the legendary Woody Guthrie, curated for the band by Woody's daughter Nora Guthrie.
I had a blast at this show! The Dropkicks were nothing short of amazing! The Ches a rena was ridiculously hot!!!! try putting some air in that place!!
The Dropkick Murphys put on a very good show. The venue however was very hot and uncomfortable. I would recommend anyone to go see the Dropkick Murphys, I would not recommend to see them or any band at the CHES-A-RENA.
The band was good , but the AC wasn't working well !
Everything you expect a Dropkick show to be, and more! Absolutely insane..... The bathroom situation at the Ches-a-rena might be the worst I've ever seen, line was 50 deep for guys.....are you kidding me? no air conditioning either, musta been 200 degrees in that hell-hole.
It was the first time that I've seen Dropkick Murphys live, and I have to say it was the best show EVER! Despite the lack of ac and hot, sweaty conditions, the band showed amazing energy and performed like champs! There was tons of band and audience interaction. I loved every second of it!
I've been to 3 Murphy's shows and this one was by FAR the best one. The club was the right size and the set list was fantastic. The band always has the best crowds around. Anyone who even slightly enjoys Irish music should check these guys out live.
As always, DKM delivers live in a way you cannot capture on CD. They are simply amazing. This was the 4th time this year I have seen them and their performance was fantastic. The only "complaint" I had from the show was that it was beyond capacity for its air conditioning. So, by the end of the night, you were 20 lbs lighter. Other than that, superb show... again.
This show was my first Dropkick Murphys and they did not disappoint. The venue was relatively small, but allowed for a great view no matter whether it was in the beer garden cage in the back or right on the floor. Plus, it's an old skating rink located above a Goodwill, so that's punk rock in and of itself. A traditional Irish song called "The Foggy Dew" played before they took the stage. It was a great way to set the mood. There wasn't a lot of banter between songs, or uncomfortable silence between songs, because the band are pros and did a great job of giving the people what they paid for. The show took place about two weeks after the Penguins won the Stanley Cup, so they made a few references to how Boston would get it back next year and they even had an inflatable Stanley Cup with a Dropkick Murphys jersey on it. I've heard how great their encores are and this one didn't disappoint. It was the girls turn first to help sing "Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced" then the boys got to get on stage and sing "Skinhead on the MTBA." My only complaint is that when they had all the girls on stage they couldn't find of them to help sing "The Dirty Glass." Overall though it was definitely a five star show.
Drop Kick was great, they always put on a fantastic show. The arena was way too hot and so was the beer but it doesn't matter because the people were cool and the music was top notch.
Murphys were a good time. Good energy and well played. The second band wasn't bad, Time Again, but I wasn't feeling the first band at all. The venue pretty well sucks though
You think you know what to expect from the Dropkick Murphys. You think you're ready for great songs and a great performance. You think you know, but you have no idea! The anticipation of the crowd waiting for the Murphys to go on was contagious. It would be virtually impossible to be part of that family of fans, and not have your fist punching the air shouting "Lets go Murphys" while you wait for the band to take the stage. You will sing along to all the words, even if you don't know them. You get bumped into by the guys in the mosh pit and may be annoyed at first, but then you get into and start pushing back because the energy just takes you over. Before you know, the time has passed and the concert is over... or is it? The lights dim, and a lone shadow walks across the stage. You know the possibility of an encore is more of a reality at this point. You even have your guess at which song they will open the encore with. But they surprise everyone by playing the opening riff to "Baba O'Reilly" by The Who! Yes, the Dropkick Murphys appreciate the classics and have a great understanding for the music from which their genre began! They closed the encore with "Shipping Up To Boston" and "Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced" and left the crowd wanting so much more! I can not wait until the Dropkick Murphys come back to Pittsburgh. They will never fail to get the crowd jumping!
The Murphy's are a band not to be missed...the show was amazing. one of the best ive ever seen. The venue was bad. No ventilation. EXTREMELY HOT. I did like how they had the no drinking on the floor tho...kinda kept things under control. All in All...FABULOUS NIGHT!!!
The consert was great. The venue itself was hotter than Hell.
It was one of the best shows I have went to in a long time! I would recommend everyone to see them some point in their life time.
The opening bands could have stayed at home, but Dropkick Murphys knocked our socks off!! The arena was not that great of a venue, but it did not matter once Dropkick took the stage!
Show was awesome! Crowd very much into it. Not that great of a facility & was very hot inside but performance more than made up for any negatives about the location.
The show was incredible. DKM played a lot of their old, but not forgotten songs, a bit of the new from Meanest of Times and everything in between. They are just an amazing band who put on a good show no matter where they are, because they truly love what they do.
If you are a fan of the Dropkick Murphys, you need to go see them live. I've been a fan of theirs for 7 or 8 years. Missed their first show in Grand Rapids because it sold out. Got the tickets early this time and I'm glad I did. There was a great atmosphere and energy at this show. Most of their songs are the sing along type. Everyone gets into it. This was one of my favorite shows ever and I've been to many. Hope they stop here again soon.
If you have never seen DKM in concert, you really should. They put on a great concert and there are no dull moments. As long as they tour in the midwest, I will keep on going to their shows !
