Absolutely amazing. Perfect song selection, great visuals and music to my ears. Will definitely pay to see this again.
This is my third time attending Distant Worlds and it was once again an amazing experience! The pieces were played perfectly and the emotions the music and accompanying video brings out is tremendous. The audience was great as well and even got to participate towards the end of the show. I would gladly attend this concert again int he future! Thank you Arnie Roth and everyone involved with putting on these amazing shows!
Last time I was at an event like this was in 2005 and had just as much fun. I really hope they decide to come to Charlotte again.
Loved the visuals and audience interaction. They played my favorite two songs, can’t wait for the next one!
A definite must for any fan of the Final Fantasy series.
This concert was amazing! Wonderfully charming and delightfully dorky, this concert more than lived up to the hype. The selection of songs was well chosen and all of the musicians did splendidly. So so happy that Distant Worlds finally made their way to Charlotte. Can’t wait for them to make their way back!
I've always wanted to see this show but have never seen them in my state. I just happen to be looking and saw this would be the first time in NC and I was ecstatic. BEAUTIFUL music, I even teared up a lil when Aerith's Theme played. If you are a Final Fantasy fan, or hell even just an orchestra fan I HIGHLY recommend this show. I hope they come back to NC again so I can see the show all over again.
I absolutely loved the performance! It was fun, exciting, and so nice to hear familiar music being played so spectacularly by Distant Worlds. I will definitely be attending again when they’re back in the Carolinas :)
The premier in Charlotte was absolutely out of body experience! I loved how enthusiastic the crowd was as well. You could really feel it in the atmosphere that everyone there either was there for nostalgic purposes, or they even just new fans everybody enjoyed it!
This was a great experience. It was the very first time Distant Worlds came to Charlotte, NC and they also had a great chorus with them to perform. The sound and acoustic was very good. They performed various songs from various final fantasy games. A wonderful way to experience another fun activity for Final fantasy gamers and families in general 😀
Loved the concert and musicians who played. It did feel like the orchestra wasn’t as rehearsed as they could have been, but the music overall was good. My main issues were a few things. Coming from Raleigh/Durham and DPAC things felt much more hectic at Ovens Auditorium. Parking was rough. We parked probably half a mile away and walked across the entire area past the colosseum at night in Winter. I’m used to a parking deck being right next to the venue so that might just be my expectations. The audience also was extremely talkative during the performances. I get that Distant Worlds isn’t a normal classical concert, but it was distracting with how talkative the people were during the music performances. It actively affected my listening experience. Again because this is an orchestral concert things aren’t THAT loud. So talking behind you is very audible. I’d love to see signage or something about being quiet during the performance. Again this isn’t a rock concert, we can all hear each other. I do appreciate how quick staff were to get on people who were recording the concert. I have no idea why they want to do that anyways but I’m glad to see staff took care of them quickly. I also think the audio mix could have been better. The brass was loud and harsh, while it sounded like the winds were quite boosted. Granted I don’t know their situation but this was my experience sitting about halfway from the wall and stage and on the bottom floor. Overall my experience was meh at best. I saw this same concert in Durham and had a MUCH better experience at DPAC. Walkable food, close parking, and a better attended venue make a huge difference to the entire experience. I also appreciated how they handled long queue lines with signage and helped people find things they needed in the lobby. I will likely avoid Ovens in the future just because all of these little things adding up and making the whole experience worse. Distant Worlds please come back to Durham and DPAC!
The program was not only full of beautiful and beloved renditions of favorite songs from the final fantasy series, but the conductor made it fun and engaging. Wish this came around more frequently. I’d go every year if I could. It was also nice seeing all the other fans enjoy themselves. People rarely can sit back and enjoy anymore. Warms my heart to see people have fun. Everyone on the staff at the complex were also super friendly and helpful!
Been wanting to see this for many years. It was even better than I expected.
This show was so amazing the people there where so cool the music was so amazing and I would definitely go again if it came back
My fiance and I have been long-time fans of the Final Fantasy series for the majority of our lives. We've even got our soul stones from Final Fantasy XIV tattooed on us! So when we saw that it was coming to Charlotte, we leaped at the chance to see the beautiful music we love live. Despite some loud fans seated nearby, we both enjoyed ourselves and adored the performance. The orchestra is so in sync and the visuals help to bring those first-moment experiences back! Worth the experience!
I'm not a Final Fantasy fan, but my boyfriend and I loved it. It was truly a beautiful show. Highly recommend and will definitely be going again when they return!
Second time seeing this show and it was just as good as the first!! What a trip down memory lane !!
I went to the Distant Worlds concert once in 2012-13 and it was wonderful! When I saw it was coming back to Seattle, I had to go again. Distant Worlds 2024 was even better! So much beautiful music, and the flamenco guitarist was just the cherry on top.
Even though I wasn't in the best of seats the concert was amazing.
I've been wanting to go to this show for a number of years now. This was my first experience. I enjoyed hearing many of Final Fantasy's greatest compositions with a live orchestra. Behind the orchestra was a projector screen showing off moments or concept art from the series. The conductor will conduct two to five compositions before getting on the microphone to talk with the audience. He would talk about his history working with Square-Enix and the direction with the performance. Hinted at what to expect in the coming years. He even encouraged some audience participation with a couple of compositions. I highly recommend attending if you're a fan of the Final Fantasy series. I do have two small complaints. First, the intermission could be five minutes longer. The intermission was about 15-20 minutes. The lines to refresh my drink and to use the restroom were long enough where I felt rushed when I heard the chimes to return to the theatre. My second complaint (and why I removed a point from my rating) was that the show felt too short. It was broken up into two 45ish minute segments. I think this show could be a half hour to an hour longer.
