This September, dive deep under the sea with Encore Theatre Collective as they bring their spectacular production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to the Bruce Mason Centre!
In a kingdom fathoms below, Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order in the ocean.
Based on the 1989 Academy Award winning film, The Little Mermaid features some of Disney’s most irresistible songs, including “Part Of Your World”, “Kiss The Girl”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls”.
Since launching in 2019, Encore Theatre Collective has dazzled thousands of audience members across Auckland with their magical and memorable productions, and continues to redefine the standard of youth theatre in New Zealand. Disney’s The Little Mermaid promises to be no exception, with astonishing costumes, stunning flying effects and an incredible cast of the country’s finest young performers.

It is an excellent play for girls and adults alike.
I had a wonderful time seeing "The Little Mermaid". I'm 45 and I took my 81 y/o mom and we both loved it! Chelsea Morgan Stock has such a beautiful voice ... and great legs too! Rogelio Douglas Jr. was superb in his role as Sebastian the Crustacean. I loved his rendition of Under The Sea. Everyone in the show was outstanding! No adult should miss this show ... thinking that it's only for kids ... the stage effects, costumes, singing and energy of this show should make everyone happy!
I went to see Mermaid with 2 girls (ages 17 &21) who enjoyed it just as much as the really young ones did. The staging and costumes were really creative and it was just a fun performance.
This was a wonderful experience! When you bring kids, make sure they have something to munch on otherwise, they get restless. 2 hours is long for any kid. bring your kids 4 and above.
Excellent adapatation of the Disney classic (except Prince Eric doesn't have his dog, Max). Drew Seeley plays Prince Eric and his voice is exceptional - there is an additional song, "Her Voice", which he has also recorded in a pop version available through Disney's Little Mermaid site - definitely check it out! (Don't forget he was the original singer for Troy in HMS.) Chelsea Morgan Stock has an amazing voice and plays Ariel perfectly. Rogelio Douglas Jr. as Sebastian is a crowd favorite and the memorable "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl" are beautifully recreated for the stage performance. Faith Prince as Ursula is show stealing as the villian with a Chicago-style performance of "Good Times Back". Eddie Korbich as Scuttle was hysterical and you will note below, my kids favorite scene was their "Poositively" number. Flounder was adorable and probably the member of the cast most comfortable in heelies! The audience was filled with several small children (mostly girls) as well as a fair number of adults (without children) - all were exceptionally mesmerized by the entire performance which is a testament to the cast and crew! There is a lot ot enjoy in this show for children of all ages! We thoroughly enjoyed the show and don't forget to stop by the stage door after the show for an opportunity to get autographs from the cast as they exit!
Once again Disney did not disappoint. They have an incredable ability to puy on a show that is so well costumed, casted and constructed that all you can do is sit back and be amazed no matter what age you are. This was the highlight of my 13 yr old daughter's week in the metropolitan area....and I think that it might have been the highlight for this 50 yr old also.
Ariel's voice was perfect. the colors were uplifting and beautifully coordinated. My daughter (age 29) and I had a perfect day in the city.
My family and I enjoyed the play - it was great! Glad we got to see it before it leaves Broadway.
I took my 5 year old daughter to this show. We both just loved the colors, the different stage scenes just beautiful!!! I definitely would recommend this show to anyone.
Wonderful show for all ages. But as usual on Broadway these days...TOO LOUD in parts. Why does Broadway want everyone to lose their hearing? Not necessary. Anyway, the show was terrific. Great casting and acting and singing was spectacular. Staging and scenery lovely to look at. Thanks for a great time
The show was phenomenal! The costumes were so colorful and creative. The sets almost made me feel like I was right there with the cast...so lifelike! The actors and actresses were excellent performers. I was entertained every moment! This show is definitely for both children and adults. I highly recommend going to see it. You will not be disappointed.
I bought tickets to the Little Mermaid for my mom's mother's day gift. Was also a great gift for myself! From the opening number to the beautiful and vibrant finale, it was nonstop fun! The scenery was absolutely amazing- only Disney could pull this off! It made us feel like we were really under the sea or catching the waves. Drew Seeley does a splendid job portraying Prince Eric and his voice was nice to listen to. You could tell that he really enjoyed playing this part. No one could pull off Ursula like Faith Prince did- absolutely amazing... still speechless and scared of her! Cheslea Morgan Stock is the cutest Ariel there could possibly be! I am already planning on seeing this again! Good tip: After the show the actors come out and sign autographs outside on the street. Was able to get a pic with Drew Seeley.. it was awesome!
It was cute. Definitely a family show. It was short and to the point. not too long and not too short. beware that the ending is a little different from the film.
My parents are visiting from Texas and I thought I'd take them to a Broadway show. My mother doesn't know English too well and I figured the Little Mermaid has the easiest story line for her to follow. I wasn't planning on enjoying the show too much since I thought it was targeted towards small children and their parents. I was wrong. The costumes, the music, the acting, and the stage sets were completely amazing. I was totally blown away. Not only did my parents enjoy it, I did too. So this is a great show to take your parents too and you won't be bored at the show no matter what age you are. Loved it!
We all enjoyed the show. Amazing stage and wonderful casts. Bravo!
The Little Mermaid is a good show, but we attended primarily to see Faith Prince. She truly makes the role of Ursala her own.
One of the best Disney shows I have ever seen! The whole family will truly enjoy it. My daughter and I got the chills at the end of the show because the final musical number was especially magical.
It was a beautiful production. i love the love story part of the show. it was truly amazing. i highly highly recommended!! a definite must see!
Wasn't sure what to expect since so much of Little Mermaid centers around water, but once again Disney knows how to transform the stage. Wonderful stage effects go along with the excellent singing. Family members of all ages will enjoy this Broadway production.
The actors & actresses played their part very well. Their facial expressions, the tone in their vioce, they were their characters! My favorite characters were Sebastian & Scuttle, they rocked the roof off the house! I took my 7 year old. She loved it! We had the best seats in the house, she could see it all. I would definetly recommend this for children, as well as, adults. It is very much worth watching. This was my first time in NY & to a broadway show. I've decided to make this an annual tradition for myself & my daughters. That is how this show has affected me.
