About

Disney Junior Dance Party on Tour

If you ever find yourself in a house where children younger than 8 reside, there's a pretty good chance you'll find a TV locked onto Disney Junior. Since 2012, this offshoot of the Disney Channel empire has provided young kids with a station to call their own, presenting a slate of beloved animated shows that have introduced children to a whole new generation of diverse cartoon characters.

Among its most popular creations are the pint-sized superheroes of PJ Masks, the Latina teenage princess protagonist of Eleanor of Avalor, and the toy-fixing heroine Doc McStuffins. With a stacked lineup like that, it can be awfully difficult to peel the kids away from the TV set and encourage them to go outside for some physical activity. But there's an opportunity for the kids to enjoy all their favorite Disney Junior characters and get some exercise at the same time.

Disney Junior Dance Party is a touring stage show that brings the channel's animated icons to life through a series of musical numbers that encourage audience interaction and movement. Your enthusiastic hosts Dee and Jay lead a revue that features all your Disney Junior favorites — including Puppy Dog Pals, Fancy Nancy, Sofia the First, and the Ghoul Girls rock band from Vampirina — in elaborate set pieces that incorporate animation, large dance troupes, awesome costumes, and copious amounts of confetti.

On top of providing a dramatic visual backdrop to the various live routines, the set's trio of large circular screens — arranged to evoke Mickey Mouse's face and famous big ears — also play host to video vignettes starring Muppet Babies and The Lion Guard. But while the performance may showcase Disney's newer cartoon franchises, you can also expect appearances from classic characters like Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy, decked out in the racing gear from their Disney Junior show Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

  • Mediocre

    by Buddahbaby2 on 9/19/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

I've attended at least three kids shows a year for the past seven years, and this has definitely been the biggest disappointment. I thought it would be a good medium for a two year old and a seven year old but it wasn't. I would say it is not suitable for kids under five. The Disney dance crew was on stage for the majority of the time and the actual characters' stage time was limited (which loses the interest of the younger audience). I wish I would've known beforehand, and could've saved money on his and Daddy's tickets. In addition, the venue just wasn't suitable for a children's show in my opinion. At one point there was a bright pink light shining so bright on my section for so long, that I had to block my son's eyes and mine with my hands. The steepness of the balcony seats were also not kid friendly. The combination of the venue and mediocre show is the reason for my rating. On the other hand, at least my seven year old daughter enjoyed it.

  • Dance Party was not great

by JoLeeMom on 9/19/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

I have a 3 year old and she was d excited to see mickey and friends she fell asleep waiting for Minnie whom came out 5minutes before the show ended. I was disappointed that the characters were in face paint instead of the realistic costumes. My expectations were not met

My kids had a blast ! I had a blast I’m a huge Disney fan ! It was great

  • Good show

by SamGhope on 9/19/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I took my 3 year old to see this show. The pros: It was just the right length for her attention span. They had a good amount of the characters from the show come out and dance. The cons: The start time was 12pm but at 12:05 they put a 15 minute timer on before the characters were brought out. If they were going to do a timer it should have been at 12 or before that. I think they should of had one of the characters as the “dj” host of the show. The DJs were enthusiastic and great but they weren’t even Disney kids. Overall it was a good show for the price paid.

  • Not enough Mickey

    by Lauren845 on 9/19/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

Mickey only made two short appearances during the show and Minnie made one appearance. They should have been on stage more. Muppet Babies were only shown on screens for two mins. Djs and dancers were on stage a lot more than any costumed characters. If I knew this before going, we wouldn’t have gone. Disappointed with the show!

  • Disney is the best

    by MiMi21 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Disney Jr Dance Party is perfect for any toddler. They included all the Disney jr characters and really got everyone involved, including moms and dads. My daughter had a blast dancing in the aisle. Highly recommend.

  • So-so

    by CMK03 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Some of the characters were in plush costumes some were in Halloween type costumes. It’s more entertaining for a toddler to see the plush costumes, especially vampirina who appeared poorly done, almost creepy. Disney can do better.

  • A commercial for Disney Jr

    by EK77 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

This felt like an extended commercial for Disney Junior. It could have used a lot more live action portrayals of characters and a lot less reliance on displaying clips of the shows

  • Disney Junior Dance Party

by babushkacat on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The show was fabulous. My 5 year old niece never stopped dancing in the aisle. She said that this was the best thing ever! The only part that was rough was the theater. The souvenir stand & the concession stand were too close to each other & to the Theater's entrance. There was a big jam of people in a tight area.

  • Disney junior dance party was amazing

    by Alonzo25 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The show was very very fantastic, my daughter was dancing while I was singing along to the words of every song. The way the kids in the theater were dancing, singing and having a good time just showed how free lance the show was for them just to express themselves to have fun, my daughter was happy and I’m extremely happy with the results I got back because the expression that was left on my daughter’s face was unforgettable. Thank you again so much

  • Terrible show

by Mamasweetz on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

I thought this show was going to so fun for my 4 year old son but it was trash don’t take your kids it’s boring and no good characters overall it was trash!!!!!

  • Where were the characters? Pay to go to Disney

    by ChazD81 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

I found this event disappointing. Hyped as a Disney Jr dance party, the characters rarely interacted with each other, were on stage for less than 1/3 of the time, and the venue did not open its doors until 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. To address those points, we hoped to see characters but did not see them as much as we thought considering the cost of these tickets compared to admission to Disney. The narrative did not flow well for the desire to see the characters. And finally, start on time! We have kids who are on a timeline so starting 25 minutes late may create issues

  • So much excitement

by VeeReview on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This is a really great and fun show for kids 2- 6. My toddler loved it. Including the real characters along with on screen characters really helps keep them entertained. I do wish the characters songs were longer. The “DJ” actors really have great energy.

  • Not enough characters and boring for young kids

    by AlexMom12345 on 9/18/18Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

It was mostly a bunch of people dancing w clips of tv shows in the background. Very little time w the characters. And far too much time with the two hosts D and J who you couldn’t understand (maybe the acoustics in theater) and added no value.

  • Dance Party Wasn’t a Dance Party

    by Amw610 on 9/17/18Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 3 out of 5

Very disappointed. Characters were not out much, not enough movement for four year old. Most toddlers aren’t interested in watching a dance team. Probably cute for 5-7 year old; not younger.

  • Great family night!

    by K07sMom on 9/17/18Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first Disney event. I wasn't sure how we would like it because I'd heard mixed reviews of the show. Turns out we loved it! Our daughter loved seeing her characters "in real life", and we enjoyed the show, as well. It was a great evening full of fun and dancing!

  • Grandson Loved It

    by Grammyx2 on 9/17/18Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 5 out of 5

My grandson kept saying “Great show”. He loved seeing all the characters on stage. I liked the bonus of the green screen pictures in the lobby, included in the price of the tickets. They did a nice job engaging the audience and the kids loved it.
