We laughed all the way through this campy, cheesy ode to the disaster movies of the 1970's. Let go of your inner critic and let your inner Cheech and Chong emerge, and you will love it too.
Loved, loved, loved it!!! Laughed my ass off. Adam Pascal's voice is unbelievable and the entire cast was amazing. Definitely have some Tony Winners here!
About 5 superb A-listers with voices from heaven. Silly show but worth it for the performances and the tunes. A really really really enjoyable evening!
Disaster was a non stop musical laugh per minute. Lots of fun, music, and eye candy to last a lifetime. The songs were all from your favorite 70's hit makers and it never disappoints. The actors were all from great shows on Broadway and super talented. Treat yourself and your friends to a disco, hip shanking evening of fun at sea. Enjoy.
Funniest and most entertaining play I've seen in awhile. I enjoyed this immensely. Clever, funny, great music and awesome cast. Couldn't stop laughing and tapping my feet
I only had time for one show while I was in NYC and I'm thrilled that I picked Disaster. I cried I was laughing so hard. It was a wonderful show.
I loved this show. It was funny and the music was great. It was fun going back to the 70's.
From the moment it started until the final act we were laughing and smiling along with each fabulous character. From the Sister, the Diva, to the Professor, Chad and Marianne every character was great! Songs and "disastrous events" all blended together to give us one FANTASTIC evening!
Very talented cast and fun 70s music made this a mildly enjoyable evening. Otherwise the plot was predictable, the dialogue at times cringeworthy, the choreography unimaginative. The show was cheesy and not clever enough to be kitsch. Skippable.
The nun character is worth the price of the ticket. The rest became a bit grating. Performers were wonderful. Just not the show for us.
The cast of this show is so talented. If you enjoy disaster movies (tgink Dante's Peak or Twister) and 70's music, you will get a kick out of this show.
So much money for what could have been a well done high school production. Really. Silliness ad nauseum Same joke too many times. Faith Prince did not perform but she could not have saved this one. The Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS performance after the show was excellent! A super number from Seussical. Almost made it worth the ticket.
This is a light hearted musical, full of songs from the 1970's. My teens were pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoyed the show. It you are looking for a truly enjoyable evening, this is a talented cast. I haven't laughed this hard in a while.
The show was vey funny. I mostly enjoyed the NUN! She was hilarious! They all were in their own way. The girl who play Lisa/Ben, was her first show, and KUDO'S to her! She did an amazing job! The Music in the show was great! I would see it again
This is a funny, extremely (intentionally) corny show that will appeal to those who grew up in the 70's. It is a fun night out and full of laughs, the pairings of the songs with the situations is perfect! You will find yourself groaning at the corniness and laughing at the same time.
This show was great! Music was great and acting was great! Very funny
My husband and I saw 5 shows last week on our bi-annual trip to NYC and Disaster was the most fun we've had at the theatre. Grab a seat and giggle and hum for 2 1/2 hours of pure delight.
Integrating pop/rock from the 80s and 90s into a musical of this nature should work. It sounds like a good idea, it seems like a good idea...but honestly...it just did not get it done. Despite having what one could only define as an all-star broadway cast, "Disaster" left me really wanting. For all the talent on stage, the only real "Stand out" in my opinion was Jennifer Simard, who plays a gambling addicted nun and brings some much needed comic relief to what is otherwise an overly campy, awkward, poorly written show. I expected camp because, lets be honest, it's making fun of disaster movies which are about as much camp as you could ever see...it simply didn't work. Adam Pascal (of Roger from Rent fame), Faith Prince, Roger Bart...the list of broadway names here just goes on and on. This show SHOULD have been a knockout...but aside from a few chuckles, and aside from the aforementioned Jennifer Simard, this one just didn't do it for me. If you're a broadway buff and know the names, do yourself a favor: skip the show and haunt the stage door. Give Seth Rudetsky a handshake as the talented musician that he is, and move on to the next theater. With a 2/3 empty mezzanine, I don't see this one sticking around for long anyway
I saw this show off Broadway and was skeptical of the transfer, but it works. The costumes, sets and orchestrations were of a much bigger and better scale. The performances , especially that of Jennifer Simard were spot on. Definitely helps if you're a fan of 70's music and disaster films of the 70's , but my date was born in the Mid 80's and still had a blast. Worth a viewing.
