About

Dirty Heads are a reggae rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Consisting of lead vocalists and founders Jared Watson (Dirty J) and Dustin Bushnell (Duddy B), along with percussionist Jon Olazabal, drummer Matt Ochoa and bassist David Foral, the band was formed in 2001 and immediately evoked the spirit of bonfire barbeques and summer road trips. Dirty Heads’ appeal is rooted in the infectious reggae grooves of songs like 2017’s “Vacation,” which became a viral hit in 2021 as the sound behind the #VacationTransition trend on TikTok. The band’s breakthrough hit was another “song of the summer” contender: “Lay Me Down” (feat. Rome of Sublime with Rome), which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Rock Songs charts. In 2021, the band released The Best of Dirty Heads, a compilation album featuring Travis Barker, Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters, Matisyahu, Train, Tech N9ne and Rome. Dirty Heads have hit the road with artists such as 311, O.A.R., Gym Class Heroes and Lupe Fiasco, and more.

  • show was great but...

by lilsizmo on 4/19/13The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

I would've loved it if the dirty heads interacted with the fans a little bit more. They played my favorite songs and rocked them all!! Had a blast and will definitely not forget it, but I just wanted just a touch of someone's hand or even eye contact ya know??

  • Show was incredible!!

    by Mixsjd6 on 4/18/13The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Shiny Toy Guns were my reason for going to the show and they were even better than I had hoped for. They played all their better and crowd-pleasing songs and the vocals from both Gregori and Carah were excellent. Dirty Heads were also a lot of fun to listen to, really good sound. Go see STGs if you ever get the chance, well worth it!!!

  • Dirty Heads killed it!!!

The whole show was amazing! Oh no fiasco are awesome and got us all pumped. The Shiny Toy Guns rocked out and The Dirty Heads killed it. They are so awesome to see live. The venue was great too. We got right up front and had a blast!!

Was a good fun night, to many drunks for a reggae show, but it comes with the territory of an event. Love the House of Blues in Chicago and would always recommend the place. The only draw back of the place is the $28 parking fee's which can be more than the ticket to the event itself.

  • Shiny Toy Guns.. Never dissapoints! $60 to sit?!

by TfamPfield on 4/13/13House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great! Acoustics awesome as always. Oh No Fiasco, Midi Matilda, Shiny Toy Guns, Dirty Heads. Energetic stage presence kept the HOB rockin'!` Negative... HOB was charging 60$ to sit on a stool?! Wife has back issues which don't allow for standing for very long at all.. (10-15mins).. So we got there an hour early to ensure our odds of grabbing a chair of any sort, so she can enjoy herself (since she is limited to the shows we can actually attend together, due to some venues not having seats at all). To get in and grab a chair.. and quickly removed from that chair by a yellow shirted security guy. Which we were told that they are charging $60 to sit tonight?! On top of the already paid for ticket cost. I've never heard of this before, and felt it is a horrible practice. Positive.. That same security guard called on his radio to another security rep, and asked if he could help us out with a chair. Which the other guy gave us a few stools to use until those they were reserved for came for them (which never happened.) So THANK YOU VERY MUCH for allowing my wife to sit!!!

Awesome show! I will definitely go again. Shiny toy guns rocked the house and dirty heads left us all with a feel of the coast.

  • The Dirty Heads concert was amazing!

by Ewcia on 4/12/13House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

First off, House of Blues in Chicago is amazing. The facility is perfect size. You are able to experience the bands from a very close distance! The Dirty Heads performance was phenomenal! Absolutely amazing, completely shocked how well they performed live! I would definitely see the band again. The other bands that performed, Oh no fiasco, Midi Matilda, and Shiny Toy Guns also performed very well! Great experience! The only disappointing part of the night was having to wait quite some time in between the bands.

  • Wuv you!

Dirty Heads were awesome! Love the venue and the sound! The only reason I did not give the show 5 stars is because it was on a Wednesday night and had 4 bands! I did not get home till really late and had to work the next day :(

  • One of these things is not like the other...

by Anonymous on 4/12/13House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

The first three bands had a common music style between them. They were danceable, fun, and energetic. Not exactly sure why The Dirty Heads were a part of this...

  • KIlled it

went to see them at best buy theater in NY, general admission. the opener was on for a while and kinda half and half (good musicians but not my kind of music). When the dirty heads came on though they absolutely killed it, best song for song concert ive been too, really high energy, great live performance, everything. Def see them again no hesitation.

  • Dirty Heads absolutely KILLED it!

Amazing show by one of the best live bands in the world. I've never missed a DH show that was close enough to me and this one wasn't going to be the first. I was lucky enough to meet the band prior to the show and they played a great set. I will continue to see them every chance I get!

  • Great show

by Anonymous on 2/28/13Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 5 out of 5

All four bands were great. Did expect the openers to be just as good but Mini Matilda and Oh No Fiasco did a great job. Also Shiny Toy Guns and Dirty Heads were amazing. Lost my voice from screaming so much!

  • Awesome Show!!

by RighteousRiley on 2/27/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Theater was really nice, loved the set up. Plus it was gorgeous inside. Opener was great, put on an awesome show. Had never heard of them before, but after their performance had to buy their album. Headliner was amazing, everyone loved it and the standing room in front of the stage was PACKED. Everyone was dancing and singing along, was a really great time.

  • Awesome show.

The Dirty Heads were awesome, as expected. The 3 bands before they came out were great too.

  • So much fun!

by NicoleIan on 2/25/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I came to this concert for Shiny Toy Guns and I loved it I had so much fun. My friend and I were all the way in the front and it was so cool! The only complaint I have was that their bass or synths (Idk) were like so loud that we were shaking and you couldn't hear the music as clearly as you should have. But aside from that they were great:)

  • The Dirty Heads!!! <3

    by Doitroyal3 on 2/25/13Crocodile Rock - AllentownRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely loved this show! All of the bands were good, but the Dirty Heads killed it! I wish they would have served some drinks though, that would have made everything 100X better!

  • Shiny toy guns

by Zack101 on 2/24/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I would have preferred a long act by Shiny Toy Guns And with ample seating for all. Standing for 3 hours isn't for everyone. Overall, good show.

  • The concert sucked

by Kyyy on 2/24/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

There were about 5 opening acts before the actual Dirty Heads went on. Opening doors were at 7 p.m. and Dirty Heads didn't come on until 11 p.m. It was rediculous and I did not even want to be there any more. The opening acts did not even relate to Dirty Heads either.

by maxxsabal on 2/24/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The Dirty Heads killed it as usual. they played a good mix of the two albums. There set was a little short. they played from 11 to 12. The 3 opening bands just confused me. none of them were romotly similer to dirty heads. especialy shiny toy guns. the first band was a fun hipster band the second band, midi matilda, was quirky and enjoyable, but neither made sence as an opener for DH. Shiny toy guns was some how both hipstery and scene and realy loud. while they were playing, if i hadnt seen jared and dustin walk in the front doors of the venue, i would have been questioning if i was actualy at dirty heads concert. but finaly the Dirty heads came on and everything was ok
