About

Dirty Heads are a reggae rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Consisting of lead vocalists and founders Jared Watson (Dirty J) and Dustin Bushnell (Duddy B), along with percussionist Jon Olazabal, drummer Matt Ochoa and bassist David Foral, the band was formed in 2001 and immediately evoked the spirit of bonfire barbeques and summer road trips. Dirty Heads’ appeal is rooted in the infectious reggae grooves of songs like 2017’s “Vacation,” which became a viral hit in 2021 as the sound behind the #VacationTransition trend on TikTok. The band’s breakthrough hit was another “song of the summer” contender: “Lay Me Down” (feat. Rome of Sublime with Rome), which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Rock Songs charts. In 2021, the band released The Best of Dirty Heads, a compilation album featuring Travis Barker, Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters, Matisyahu, Train, Tech N9ne and Rome. Dirty Heads have hit the road with artists such as 311, O.A.R., Gym Class Heroes and Lupe Fiasco, and more.

  • Pepper stole the show!!

by MrNeill on 8/5/14St Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 5 out of 5

Everyone on the line-up was fantastic, but Pepper definitely takes the cake for overall performance. I only wish they would have played Rent!! Even still, they totally killed it in St. Augustine and would definitely go see any of the bands again if they come back!

  • Fantastic!

by KBlank on 8/5/14St Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 5 out of 5

It's always refreshing to see a performance that is just the same, if not better, than what you hear on the album/radio. Amazing show!

Awesome show and thank goodness no rain; so crowded but so much fun!

  • Pepper was amazing!

    by AlienRiver49 on 7/30/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

It was the first time Pepper ever played in Maine and they were great, had great interaction on stage, I would definitely see them again, good vibes and high energy. The Dirty Heads were great as well!

  • MORE PEPPER

by rickjames28 on 7/30/14Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

MORE PEPPER LESS DIRTY HEADS. PEPPER SHOULD HAVE PLAYED ANOTHER 30 SONGS (and only their old stuff)

  • Pepper Rocks the Stone Pony

by Smitty2385 on 7/29/14Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

This show was awesome. AER was incredible with their cover of "Shout!", they had a great vibe and were really into the show. Pepper was back on the east coast and rocked as always. The Dirty Heads finally have a big following and played a lot of their new album.

Such a great venue ! So much fun! Pepper and dirty heads were amazing.

  • Not bad at all

by PaulieC19 on 7/29/14Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 3 out of 5

Pepper and the other opening acts were great! If the dirty heads played more of their original sound and not as much off of their new album, it would have been at least four stars. The times when they did play their older hits (dance all night, cabin by the sea, etc) the place erupted. I get that they are trying to push the new album, but you still gotta show more love to the old stuff. Pepper was my favorite act of the show.

  • Great experience at the paramount wit the dirty he

This was a great show! Venue was organized and as always, a good time. Band was awesome.

  • Killed it again!

by DG0616 on 7/29/14Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The Stone Pony is the perfect venue to see a band like the Dirty Heads. Being outside across from the beach really sets the tone for the whole show. They were electric. Never stopped moving -- they did so many songs off Sound of Change and they were all amazing, The crowd was wild for them.

  • Great concert

by chigg on 7/29/14Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

All four bands were great! Awesome stage performance and entertainment. Would totally go see them again when they come back to jersey! Also loved how they went every other song between thier new album and their old songs. Song/Set change was sometimes slow but it wasn't a big deal.

My wristband fell off and they wouldnt give me a new one even though i had 3 forms of id proving I was 21 and cards to back up my id. Absolutely absurd.

  • As fun as you'd expect out of the Dirty Heads!

by raaaandy on 7/28/14The Wellmont Theater - MontclairRating: 4 out of 5

Dirty Heads met my high expectations. Aer was good. Pepper was surprisingly great. Plus a surprise opening band led the way. Definitely worth what I paid.

  • Majorly Disappointed

by Ry9Girl on 7/28/14Blue Hills Bank Pavilion - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Dirty Heads should consider getting a new sound guy because they sounded horrible. Also, the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion stopped serving alcohol @ 930p & the concert wasn't over until 11p. I've been to several concerts @ this venue & have never come across this situation. I woud not suggest that ANYONE go & see Pepper. Aer sounded great, I just wish they had gone on second & not first. There are several other issues I could also touch upon but ill stop here & save everyone from reading my rant. All & all I was VERY disappointed with the night.

  • Dirty Heads show was EPIC!

    by DG0616 on 7/28/14The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Drove in from CT for this show - Huge DH fan and have seen them many times. The show was incredible - they truly stepped up their game. The songs off their new album Sound of Change had the crowd going wild. Unforgettable night. Had never seen Pepper before and enjoyed them but AER really stole the show -- those guys are just a party and look forward to seeing them in the future -- Katastro was great and had a good set - we enjoyed them,

  • Dirty Heads were awesome - Wellmont theatre not

    by DG0616 on 7/28/14The Wellmont Theater - MontclairRating: 3 out of 5

Saw DH the night before at the Paramount theatre in LI and they ROCKED the place - the sound was amazing - the show went off without a glitch - it was a fabulous night - drove down to Montclair NJ to the Wellmont the next night and can't say the same thing. There was a fire alarm prank that delayed the show -there were numerous technical difficulties that further delayed the show - the sound was horrendous - the bass drowned out the lead guitar and Duddy's vocals. Will never go back to the Wellmont for a show again.

  • Great energy!

by MiddleMezz on 7/28/14The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

All three bands had great energy with meaningful lyrics that speak to all generations. Poppin' mad eardrums yo!
