Sad

I love Broadway and have a deep appreciation for the cast and musicians and producers and directors. That being said, it is difficult for me to give this review but this production was terrible. I couldn't find a person sitting near us that felt different. Let me also say, I did not expect the movie. Just as I did not expect the plays for Grease or the Sound of Music to match the movies. The cast was bland. The dialogue was forced. The new civil rights portion was out of place. And giving the mother dialogue was ridiculous. She was meant to be a 1960s housewife that stayed home and kept house and remained oblivious to what was going on outside of her eldest daughters search for a husband and honeymoon destination. There was little to no emotion portrayed by the cast. They seemed bored and uninterested. The dance numbers lacked enthusiasm. The acoustics in the theater were terrible. I truly am sorry to say all this but, for me, this was a complete waste of money and time.
