    Great for kids

by jujubuhg on 2/11/14Hershey Theatre - Hershey

My 5 year old had a great time. The show is a perfect length and did not really need the intermission (but I guess kids = small bladders = more bathroom breaks!). There is lots of music and dancing. Everyone had a great time.

Fantastic show! We want to see it again!

by Sherezada on 2/4/14AMOSS Center - Bel Air

I don't get all the negative reviews. At our showing every single kid AND parent was excited beyond belief! Kids are so enthralled with their friends Buddy, Tiny, Mr Conductor, etc, that they don't even notice the puppeteers. I, for one, am happy they were puppets and not people dressed as the characters; it made the characters much more "realistic" in terms of their proportions (can you imagine what the proportions of a person would do to Tiny's thin frame and neck?) In terms of the staging/special effects, they were no different than a normal play (flat , but very well constructed Dinosaur Train, light effects simulating the passing of the time tunnel). You should have seen the screams of excitement when each of these happened. The story came straight from one of the Dinosaur Train episodes (which, incidentally, happened to air in our area the day after we saw the show- my son felt like he was reliving the whole experience). Yes, there is quite a bit of singing, but it is part of the story, and everyone was singing along. Overall we had an amazing time! Even my husband and I enjoyed it. We want to go again, but they were only in the area for one day. I hope they bring it back. To this day, my 18-month-old applauds and jumps in excitement every time you mention "Dinosaur Train". She didn't do that before this show (and she had seen plenty DT episodes prior). My 4-year old son is still asking where is Buddy and why can't we go see him again. I would call that a successful show.

    Would not recommend

by grappags on 1/17/14Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

I don't usually write reviews; however, since this was such a disappointment I felt I should to save others the money. My kids were all excited to go see the Dinosaur Train - they couldn't wait! When we got there and the show started, it was actual puppeteers instead of people in costumes. My kids kept asking me, "How come they aren't in costumes?" It was very distracting because the puppeteers were not all covered so you saw all their facial expressions. You found yourself watching them instead of the actual puppets. The puppeteers did do a good job at moving the characters around the stage but it was still distracting.

    Dinosaur Train

It was a decent show. Shorter than I had expected for the price I paid. Tee shirts and gifts were extremely expensive.

    room for improvement

by whydoihavetopickanickname on 1/13/14Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

Story was ok. Puppeteers were intentionslly distracting, which was weird. Lighting was horrible. Wish this was done more like Disney does the Under the Sea show with blacklights so you can't see the puppeteers.

    Horrible

by Timson on 12/1/13Skirball - NYC

The show was just plain horrible. No plot, just senseless dances and music during the most of the performance. We have paid $50.00 a ticket not to see puppets dance on stage. There should be a plot, a story and some educational value. This thing looks almost like a scam. Take the money, put puppets dance on the stage, and out!

    La La Loo!

by buddysbuddy on 11/26/13Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Loved all the dinos! Kids sang along with all the songs and answered all the questions! Interaction was lots of fun. Would have liked all the actors to have worn black beanie hats and turtlenecks. Skin and hair was a bit distracting. The conductor was perfectly dressed. His character stood out since his handler was obscure. Sometimes the 'paleontologist' was a bit too excited and became hard to understand with her fast talking. Hard for adults so I'm sure the kids missed it all too. Loved the size of King and his singing. My favorite!

    OK

While my 4yr old grandson seemed to enjoy the show, he was a little disappointed with the puppeteers being so visible. I was too, it would be better if the puppets were costumed with the puppeterrs inside. The music was a little loud for young ears, and the "palentogist" was too loud, and annoying.

For a small audience turnout the performers gave it their all. Good show for a short run. Wish it was in town longer.

    One dimensional poor special effects

by rogerd823 on 11/13/13Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

Very poor special effects. One dimensional sets that made the kids curious as to what they were. Come on the train set was a joke and the time tunnel special effects were embarrassing. Puppets were good and the puppeteers worked very hard to make the puppets look real. The puppeteers were very distracting the kids got bored after 10 minutes I spent over $210.00 for the event it really was not worth 1/8 of that. It should be a free mall show.

One dimensional train no special effects

by rogerd823 on 11/13/13Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The puppets and the puppeteers were very good but the puppeteers were vere distracting. You ended up watching the puppeteers more that the puppets. The special effects were nonexistent and the dinosauer train was a one dimensional set piece that the kids did not even recognize as a train. The videos that played on a screen were so small and bleached out no one could see them All the kids got bored 10 minutes into the show. Show was very short with an intermission set in so that money could be spent on the absorbanant souvenirs sold in the lobby. Big disappointment for the $210.00 we spent on tickets. Come on you can do allot better. Oh by the way the time tunnel lights were so lame it made the adults laugh from embarrassment.

    Dinosaur Train was a disappointment

by Anonymous on 11/13/13Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

If it was $5 per person I would have accepted the quality of the performance .The characters were puppets, not what we expected. The audience was young and they used names of dinosaurs that were not common. Hard to follow the story line. Would like my money back.

The show was loud. But it was fantastic!!! My husband and 3yr old child enjoyed the show. Very entertaining! You forget there are puppeteers behind characters.

    Ugh Dinosaur train

by Loukas on 11/13/13Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

    Dinosaur Train

by llindy65 on 11/13/13Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

This was a perfect show for my three year old twins who absolutely were engaged the entire time. This was their first experience with an event of this sort. I was unsure how they would react but pleased they had such a wonderful experience.
