As soon as he started to play you knew he was the king , blowing away the previous surf bands & they were decent. It was a special feeling knowing his influence
THE OLD MASTER ROCKED ASBURY PARK WITH HIS SIGNATURE SURF GUITAR LEGEND SOUND
This was my first time seeing Dick Dale and he did not disappoint. Nonstop fun!
Dick is a very personable showman. He interacted with the audience, telling jokes, having us sing along & really put on one heck of a show!!! Glad I got to see the Surf King LIVE!!
86 years old and still putting on a great show. Worth every penny!
Dick can still bang with the best, and he's earned the right to say and do whatever he wants, but please stop the medical review!! Makes me feel older than I am...
Dick Dale wowed the audience at Birchmere Sunday night with his unique style. What a performer!
Dick dale is an original and a legend. He's not only the best at what he does, he's the only one who does what he does.
Dick Dale was absolutely amazing and he had the whole crowd rocking. Wish I could see him more often.
It was GREAT to see Dick Dale can still put on exciting show. The Canyon is great place to see him, especially when it's not crowded. It's nice to be able to sit down and enjoy. The Steak Dinner was very good; bu I can't say the same about the vegetable lasagna. Dick Dale is old, so are we, but our 17 year old Grandson is part of the next generation to enjoy being a "Dick Head" and even bought a shrt to prove it.
A great evening of entertainment. The Andrea Belestra Trio started the evening with original material that was captivating and reminiscent of Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow. He was followed by a forgettable second band but fortunately Dick Dale and his unlimited energy saved the evening. At 76, Dale has more energy and is a better entertainer than those half his age. The chemistry he had with his band was solid and it was obvious that they were having fun and enjoyed playing together.
Why did I wait so long to see Dick Dale perform? The guy is amazing and puts on a great show. Not to be missed. High power guitar playing and great back up musicians. Surf's Up!!!
Great concert. He spent a lot more time playing guitar instead of telling corny stories and doing gimmicky things. The new format is what we all come to see - great guitar playing. I didn't give 5 stars because he stayed in the dressing room and came on stage way late. The venue was really crowded, too. Not his fault but being a sardine will cost you a star. I've seen Dick quite a few times and this was one of his better shows.
He came on 1 1/2 hours late... and talked to much...Standing only... That's a long time to stand in one spot...
At the age of 76, Dick Dale still rocks! His guitar playing is still amazing and he really engages the crowd. He played all of his favorites, some cool covers, and when he rocked Miserlou, it was one of my favorite all time concert moments.
At the intimate venue the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale (4/20), Dick Dale at almost 76 gave a tour de force performance on the staccato, vibrato power of the left-handed Fender surf guitar. At almost 65myself and a native Californian, many of the crowd revered him as the "Godfather of Surf Punk Rock." to me it was just a great master keeping the music alive (Dick is one the prime influences on Jeff Beck) He had an excellent young bass player and drummer which reaLLY kept the backbeat hot. He torched thru a bunch of songs including of course "Let's Go Trippin" and various versions of the classic, Miserilu. Spontaneous, great crowd interaction. We could have done w/o two of the opening bands who were horrible. But thrash/crash is the norm at this venue. ROCK ON DIC K!
Dick Dale is an American Icon and after seeing him live I know why! What a great treat to see him up close and personal. He was terrific and seem to be having the time of his live. How often do you get to enjoy someone that is a genius and loves every minute of it! If you have the opportunity to catch him, don't even think about it. God Bless Dick Dale!
Opening band started too late (8:45pm) and did too many numbers. the 2nd band was lousy, too. Then, Dick Dale didn't get started until 10:30 (too late!) Its a small theater - doesn't have to be so loud.
AMAZING! Had seen him years ago and was somewhat expecting him to phone it in given age and health issues but this was every bit as good as before. Wonderful to see a living legend still being everything that made him a legend. King of Surf Guitar, father of the heavy metal sound, legendary left hand upside down guitar hero, first 100 amp, or for any of a whole list of things that may make you want to see him - GO SEE THE SHOW you won't be disappointed. Just fantastic guitar and showmanship without uneeded special effects. Dick is the real deal. Do yourself a favor and GO TRIPPIN!
