Dermot Kennedy on Tour

Folk singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has quickly taken the world by storm, rising from a small town in Ireland to release a number of charting singles as well as work with revered musicians and producers like Glen Hansard and Mike Dean (Kanye West, Travis Scott). In 2017, the dynamic performer went on the U.S. festival circuit and played Lollapalooza, South by Southwest, Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo, making an international name for himself with his high-energy shows. The following year, he went on a world tour and played shows in the U.S., Australia and Europe, hitting Coachella and also playing an NPR Tiny Desk Concert after being voted NPR Slingshot Best New Artist of the Year. Kennedy's live shows flesh out his intimate tunes with a full band, bringing the audience fully inside his expressive songs. Kennedy's tour in 2019 took him across multiple continents as he incorporated tracks from his sophomore album, Without Fear, into his set.

Dermot Kennedy in Concert

Born in 1991 in Ireland, Kennedy was attracted to music at a young age, picking up a guitar at 10 and taking the plunge into songwriting a few years later, at 14. Before long, Kennedy was performing at open mics around Dublin; eventually he found himself busking — playing music on the street for money — in cities around the world. After high school, he studied classical music at the university level for a few years, but ultimately decided to pursue folk music. Kennedy's big break came when he won first place in a major upset at the South County Song Contest at St. Finian's GAA Club, putting him on the radar of industry professionals and singer-songwriters around the world.

After he self-published on Spotify, some of Kennedy's music found its way onto Discover Weekly playlists, which helped him get noticed by a wider audience. His first charting single, "Young & Free," reached No. 82 on the Irish Singles Chart, but his breakthrough came with 2018's "Power Over Me," which reached No. 10 on the Irish Singles Chart, No. 21 on the U.S.'s Hot Rock Songs and No. 5 on Adult Alternative. "Power Over Me" has since been certified gold. Kennedy signed to Interscope and, in January 2019, released his self-titled debut album, which hit No. 5 on the Irish charts.

  • Heartfelt and Simple (in the best way!)

by Ally on 10/21/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Dermot is truly an incredibly talented artist- and the type of show he is offering on this tour (and the venues!) allow the music to speak for itself. One of the best shows I've been to! He is doing what he is best at in venues that match the tone of his music.

  • An experience everyone should be so lucky to have

by KG on 10/21/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Dermot is without a doubt the best live performer you could ever see. There truly are no words to describe his power and emotional resonance on stage. No one has the ability to make me cry to music but him. If you enjoy music even in the slightest, or even if you hate music and don't see what all the fuss is about, and attend only one concert in your life, Dermot Kennedy is who I'd tell you to go see. He just might make you understand the power music can have. These small intimate concerts in beautiful venues are Dermot at his best, but his big shows are definitely one to see as well. His songwriting is like no other; his delivery is beyond this world. He's an artist you simply must see live to fully appreciate his talent. Nothing less will do.

  • Breathtaking

by Chels on 10/21/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was a truly life changing show. The emotions in that room can not be duplicated. Dermot brings something very special to live music. You can feel what he's feeling and to share that with 2000 strangers is something not everyone gets to experience in this life. It transcends a "concert"experience, it is something to be held and cherished. Phenomenal!

  • Intimate but inconsistent

by Troy on 10/21/25Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The sound mix for the opening act was way off, making him almost impossible to understand. Dermot was great, but the crowd was pretty annoying.

  • 3 Generations in family love Dermot Kennedy:)

by Ellen Fry on 10/19/25Rating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I went to Houston in 2023 for Dermot’s ‘Sonder’ Tour. I’ve been drenched in every lyric of his since 2017. So much so, both of my daughters consistently listen to Dermot! When I saw he was coming to Dallas, I just knew I had to bring my adult daughters who drove 8 hours from their home in Louisiana to experience the most amazing artist on the planet. Dermot DID NOT disappoint. We really appreciated the intimacy of this Tour and have our ears open for any new tours in the coming years🥰❤️

  • Best vocalist you’ll ever see

by HF on 10/19/25Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Dermot crushed this. The venues he chose this tour were perfect for his vocals and the acoustics. It was intimate and powerful and he sounds even better live than his albums.

  • Amazing

by Lynds on 10/17/25Summit Music Hall - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Dermot is such an incredibly talented, humble, poetic story teller, and his heart shines through his music. This was my second concert of his after seeing him at gorgeous Red Rocks 2 years ago, and the intimate setting of The Summit was so magical. The vibe of the entire crowd was calm and peaceful. I love many different music genres, and yet Dermot’s concerts are my absolute favorite. I actually went solo, as my friend couldn’t make it, and it was an unforgettable experience. Dermot’s music is truly amazing, and then the way he talks about his music is such a pleasure. He is such a good human. It was an escape from some of the harsh realities of our world right now, and yet helped remind me of the beauty in life and humanity. His music is truly therapeutic.

  • Emotionally wrecked in the best way possible

by Paris on 10/14/25Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Dermot Kennedy is proof that music can still break you open. Raw, real, and completely unforgettable. This man delivered one of the most powerful performances I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t just a concert — it was emotional alchemy. Truly the best concert I’ve ever been to. Every lyric felt raw and alive, like he was pulling stories straight from his chest and handing them to the crowd. I cried, I laughed, and I felt the energy in the room pulse like a heartbeat we all shared. His voice has this rare ability to be both tender and commanding at once — the kind that leaves you suspended between heartbreak and hope. It took me nearly two days to come down from the emotional high; it was that immersive. A truly captivating, soul-shaking performance.

I have followed Dermot since 2017 and his music has always been amazing. I had the pleasure of seeing him twice so far on each of his North American tours. By far one of the best vocalist live. He connects with the audience in such an emotional way. Truly magical to see live.

Dermot Kennedy's inaugural Misneach Festival was pure MAGIC! He is poetry in the human form as well as being the kindest hearted human to walk this planet. He introduced us to new Irish bands and it was fantastic! I flew across the country to see it and I would fly across the globe for him! Simply BRILLIANT!

by Aasimar on 3/22/25TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We love Dermot. His music has transformed our life. He has shown us that one life isn't long enough and the time we have is short. The location of Misneach in Boston was perfect, a stunning city with so much history. I love the fact that he's platforming others and building up the people around him. We especially loved Nell Mescal. If you have the chance to go next year wherever that may be, GO!!!
