Dennis is funny but way overpriced.

by sirmon on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

The show started at 8 pm. We were in the car by 9. I don't expect any performer to go much longer than an hour but there was no opener and he spoke just under an hour. Since the tix were about $80 with convenience fees I'd say it was not worth it. Of course I'm just comparing it to other music shows I've been to. But even Unwigged and Unplugged seemed to be close to 2 hours. They did have songs though. Bottom line is that now I've seen Dennis live and i've got the memory. I won't catch him again unless the price is significantly reduced.

    60 minute show

by chipvegas on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

With no opening act and Dennis only doing 60 minutes(exactly), it sure seemed like way too short of a show. We traveled from Texarkana, about 185 miles one way. We were expecting more for the $70 price per ticket. This was their own fault, but the people that showed up late expecting to miss the opening act only caught 20 -30 minutes of Dennis. Once again..that's their fault.

Very funny & very smart, but the set was only an hour long...too short for what we paid!

Dennis Miller - comedy for the cerebrial

by RightwingOkie on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

Dennis Miller was everything I expected and a few surprises. Yes, most of his barbs were aimed at political liberals and left-wing policy, but he threw in some zingers at the right wing and general cultural phenomenon. Probably funnier than I expected - many laugh-out-loud moments and dozens of applause lines. The crowd here in the heart of red-country Dallas/Ft. Worth was unsurprisingly sympatico, which may have provided a little extra energy to the atmosphere - he could have thrown out just about anything and gotten at least a smattering of applause. Very few of his lines fell flat completely, but like the pro he is he didn't miss a beat. There was no intro act and his set was a little on the short side (almost exactly one hour), but still worth the $ and the time to go see a guy who doesn't waller in the mud and actually talks above the head of some of his audience, rather than shooting for the lowest common denominator. One caveat - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY if you're the type of humorless liberal who can't take a joke and laugh at jibes at the expense of left-wing foibles. There are plenty of other entertainers out there who will pander to your delicate sensibilities.

It took longer to drive there

by Alanfromthecity on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

DM did not dissapoint with his words. It was a funny hour. But for a ticketmaster level price at a stadium with $15 plus parking and typical overpriced food and drink, more than an hour was expected. Find some opening acts or more material or if this is the intent, try a different level venue to do this. The crowd did all get an extra laugh leaving after the hour, at what fools we were.

    Ok

by lilymama on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

I thought Dennis started off slowly, so I was a little worried. But, after about 10 minutes, he hit his stride. He had some really funny stories. I only wish he would have talked for more than just an hour. I couldn't believe that was it. Also, it was obvious he was in pain with his back. I wish him luck on getting that fixed. All in all, a good show, but I felt a little shorted with the time.

Miller was great...the best "paid wise-ass" of all

by Bigtex60 on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

I am a big Dennis Miller fan and found this event to be typically Dennis Miller. A biting, bullet point oratory touching all current issues in play....delivered with great sarcasm along with an ample dose of irreverence...very funny.

    Way too short!

by notime on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

He started right on time but was way too short. He used alot of old material to fill a hour show.

Dennis Miller political views dominate night

by SLH1 on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

DM ranted for about an hour (kinda short wHen there was no warmup act) but 90% of his bit came straight from his Fox News speaking points. If I wanted to go to a republican rally I couldve done that for free. I wasn't naive enough to think he wouldnt touch on politics but I was hoping for more cynicism that anyone could relate to, not just the O'Reilly devotees.

    Dennis Miller

by okie540i on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

Funny, but very short (50 minutes), and ended abruptly, never walked off stage, turned around as if it was an encore, did 2 more minutes, then left abruptly again. The whole event seemed like a practice gig that the audience paid for.

    Dennis Miller--Yes!

by ntresler on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

I have always loved the fast paced, finely honed, intellectual razor blade humor of Dennis Miller. It's like having the smartest guy in the class also be sarcastically funny and cool. He was a little more laid back last night--but still sliced and diced those that so richly deserved it.

    dennis was great

by stageguy on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

the concert only lasted an hour but it was terrific. the problem was people comeing in 30 mins late and disrupting the event . this is happening all the time anymore in concerts, plays, and broadway musicials. if i am paying the top prices, then these theatres should make some rules for late shows. make then sit in an area set aside for late arrivals.

    Dennis Miller was hysterical!!!

by PassionPartiesDiva on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

I bought the tickets for my husband's birthday & figured I'd go with him :-) We listen to Miller on the radio & see him on O'Reilly frequently. I honestly didn't think he'd get a single laugh out of me all night - I was so wrong! I laughed hysterically, more than my husband!!! I laughed so hard I was crying & could barely catch a breath!!! Miller is brilliant & says things others don't dare say - thank God for his humorous honesty!!! I am so glad I bought those tickets!...I needed that good laugh last night! Thanks Dennis!!!

    Love Dennis Miller

by sitan01 on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

I am probably not the best one to ask about Dennis's performance. I think it was great, but I have always liked his making fun of everyone. The left and the right of the political spectrum has always been fair game. The thing I enjoy most is his historical, cultural and current event references that make you think, when he makes you laugh. You really can't go to one of his shows and truly enjoy these comical connections being an uninformed individual. I always watched him when he had a show on HBO, and I continue to enjoy his appearances on Fox's Bill O'Reilly. I hope he can come back to Dallas soon. Very entertaining, fun, funny, and also very true. I am a Dennis Miller fan..

    Awesome!

by canman42 on 8/23/09Nokia Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

Dennis Millers story about Frank Sinatra dinner was hillarious. It was a great event at the Nokia-alot better than Bill Mahr!
