Demetri Martin is my favorite Person.

by raganoli on 7/13/09State Theatre - Minneapolis

I've been a fan of Demetri for a long time and I expected a great show... but it was AMAZING. I expected some of his old jokes but was instead presented with lots of hilarious new ones in classic Demetri style. Also enjoyed the warm-up comedian!

    Awesome

by rkleine07 on 7/13/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Demetri Martin had recently become one of my favorite comedians after being introduced to his work by my little brother. So when I heard he was coming to the Uptown a week before my brothers birthday I immediately got tickets for us to see the show. It was awesome. Better than I even expected. Along with his typical deadpan one-liners, quirky oversized notepad, and amusing songs, he also interacted with the audience quite a lot. This was definitely the part that made it worth going to see him live, as opposed to just watching him on comedy central. He was personable and truly a funny guy - not just someone who regurgitates jokes well. I would recommend this show to anyone - even mediocre fans. It is a fun show and he is a great performer

Demitri = the most creative standup comedian ever

by Loafy on 7/13/09State Theatre - Minneapolis

Demitri Martin really is unlike any other standup comedian. Smart, mid-thirties, former writer for Conan O'Brien. His comedy is dry, frequently musical, and always makes you wonder "how did he ever think of that?" This is what earned him his own weekly Comedy Central show, folks.

I was almost in tears laughing at points...

by mateoburrito on 7/13/09The Pageant - St Louis

I'm going to try and keep this short. This show was a great show. I first started to get into Demetri Martin by watching his series on Comedy Central ("Important Things"). When I saw Demetri was coming to St. Louis, I figured it would be a fun show based on how much I enjoyed his TV series. Turns out that the live performance was even better than I expected. I thought there would be a lot of repeat jokes from his show. This was not the case. There was one here and one there...but on the whole...Demetri used a lot of material that I've never heard before. In addition to being fresh in that matter, he was also great at improvising. In fact, he was probably one of the best I've ever seen at ad-libbing on the spot. If something didn't quite exactly go as planned in the show, Demetri found a way to make you laugh your butt off over it. I think the thing I like about Demetri is he comes off as your everyday guy. His comedy mainly revolves around random observations. We all make them...Demetri just analyzes his random observations to a much greater degree than we do. And he finds fun ways to display his analyses. He tries his best to connect with his fans. He asks for feedback on new material, lets people "request" old favorite jokes in his live standup performances, and also makes a point of shaking hands with/taking pictures with/signing autographs for fans after the show (so keep a lookout for him by the back doors of the venue). I also like the fact that his shows include a variety of acts. He has his normal standup. He has his musical/singing jokes. He has his sketchboard/easel. I'd recommend that anyone who hasn't seen Demetri go see him as soon as possible. He's a hilarious guy. I can almost gaurantee that he'll keep you laughing the entire show. Thanks, Demetri. Your show was great. I can't wait until Season 2 of "Important Things".

    Demetri is phenomenal

by inkblotsart on 7/13/09State Theatre - Minneapolis

I think Demetri Martin is a great comedic talent. His dry humor is incredibly entertaining and I would definitely see him if he comes through again. Eagerly awaiting season two of Important Things (his show on Comedy Central).

    Good times.

If you like Demetri Martin.... see him live. Tons of new material, and he's great at doing stuff off-the-cuff. In fact, one of the better moments of the show was his reaction to a guy who yelled something out (not quite heckling, per se, but something along those lines), which basically turned into a 5-10 minute bit.

    I love Demetri Martin!

by badgergal on 7/13/09State Theatre - Minneapolis

I have been a huge fan of Demetri for several years now and had never seen him live. I jumped at the chance to see him at the State Theater in Minneapolis. He did not disappoint! My face was actually in pain because I was laughing so hard. If you are a fan, you will LOVE him live; if you have never heard of him, I would suggest checking out some of his stuff online (comedy central has some great clips), because he has a very unique style. Absolutely FABULOUS. I cannot wait until I have a chance to see him again! (One minor complaint is that the State Theater may have been a bit to large a venue, seeing as Demetri has a lot of visual jokes/drawings/etc that were hard to see from the back. They should have had a screen off to the side or something...)

    I love Demetri Martin

by LeslieinShawnee on 7/13/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

One of the best comedy shows I have been too. Very funny. He did a long show and even stayed after for questions. Besides a few idiots in the audience, which he was able to make fun of a really good time. I unfortunately could not really see the flip charts from my seat. I would home maybe for big venues he would have like an overhead projecting them or something.

Demetri Martin + Heckler = Hilarious Berating

by Bunn on 7/13/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Hilarious show, only made better by the instant squelching of a heckler in the audience. If you enjoy the TV show, you'll enjoy Martin live even moreso.

    Demetri was hilarious!

by BCSTL on 7/13/09The Pageant - St Louis

Demetri Martin is one of the best on-stage comedians I've ever seen! I've seen and loved his specials and shows on TV, but he is even funnier in person!! Very sharp-witted with great ad-lib. Fantastic interaction with the audience, as well. I actually hurt from laughing so hard! I would recommend seeing him to anyone. I would also recommend getting some close seats, though. I knew this when I bought my tickets, fortunately, but I did hear some audience members complaining that they couldn't see his sketches well (mainly due to the layout of the venue).

    Great show

by Patrick1983 on 7/13/09The Pageant - St Louis

First time seeing Demetri live very funny. He did a lot of new material then finished with some classic stuff. Had a small problem with his drawing pad, but made from some good laughs.

My Husband and I are huge fans!! It is hard to find the right word to describe just how funny Demetri is!! If you can't see him in person, watch his show on Comedy Central, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait for him to come back to Minnesota.

    I love Demetri

by KimG on 7/13/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I think it was hilarious and pretty much any would think so. He's not a dirty comedian that uses a lot a swear word every other sentence but he isn't too wholesome either, which makes him just right.
