About

DELBERT MCCLINTON IN CONCERT:

Veteran Texas bluesman Delbert McClinton is a talented recording artist who is no stranger to the top of the charts, but the real magic happens when he hits the stage. McClinton's hootin' and hollerin' take on the blues gets the whole crowd jumping at his live shows. His incredible harmonica and guitar playing really bring favorites like "Giving It Up for Your Love" and "Every Time I Roll the Dice" to life. Whether he's telling a hilarious story or sharing the spotlight with his killer saxophonist, McClinton is a gracious and authentic performer who always impresses on his unforgettable tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Lubbock, Texas, McClinton cut his teeth playing in a bar band called the Straitjackets before hitting the charts in 1962 with his harmonica playing on Bruce Channel's No. 1 hit "Hey! Baby". He began releasing his own albums in the early '70s, finding his way onto the charts with albums like Love Rustler (1977) and Keeper of the FLlame (1979). A talented songwriter, McClinton also penned hits for other artists, including the 1978 Emmylou Harris No. 1 smash "Two More Bottles of Wine". He scored a hit single of his own in 1980 with "Giving It Up for Your Love", which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. McClinton continued releasing successful albums throughout the '80s and '90s, but things really picked up in the '00s when he landed four No. 1 albums on the US Blues chart and nabbed a Grammy for his 2005 album The Cost of Living. A gifted performer, McClinton continues to tear it up for fans whenever and wherever he tours.

Kelley Hunt was fantastic and Delbert was too. I've seen him a number of times and this was one of his best shows. He sang all the great songs and seemed to really be enjoying himself. His band is always unbelievable!

    Delbert

I've been going to Delbert concerts for over 20 years. This one with Kelley Hunt was as good as any. Seems like he has his old enthusiasm back. He stayed on stage and signed autographs for a long time just like he used to do. The best Texas Roadhouse blues you will ever hear!

Sweet show! The legendary Delbert McClinton plus Kelley Hunt! I think they had more fun than I did and I've been tired all day! Love the Uptown's intimate setting. Wish you'd brought out the tables and chairs for this one. We danced all night.

One Blond Little Girl....Once four now twenty one

by lalagreggandcharlie on 7/11/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Once upon a time a long time ago a family went to see Delbert McClinton play. The parents were lovers of his music. Their lovely little four year old daughter went to the stage and went to see Delbert. Last night at the show that same young lady, with perfect timing in the song danced on to the stage to see Delbert. She was part of a large group of ticket holders. Nearly 20 seats held by her friends and family. We all have our Delbert stories and have lived, cried, laughed and loved to his music. The young lady was not allowed back in to see the rest of the show. We lost three of our party to her choice to replay history. We loved the music.......Kelly Hunt is powerful. Delbert gave his all as usual. Not one of our group will ever forget the evening of friends, stories, love and laughter. May be that the child shouldn't have wandered onto the stage......may be......yet history will stand in a small group of family and friends.......Delbert McClinton and his deep rooted fans are tightly knit. His music touches our lives.....stirs the life in all of us. Yes, we recommend the event. We also recomment mercy.......mercy.....for the fan of Delbert McClinton in all of us. We will never forget!

Delbert Mclinton was one of the better concerts

by toneman57 on 7/11/09Uptown Theater - Kansas City

This was one of the better concerts I have been to. The intiment setting of the Uptown Theater was one of the better venues. Comming on stage to sing with Kelly Hunt was a plus. and then Kelly Hunt comming on stage to sing with Delbert was well worth the money. Delbert did a lot of new stuff as well as old vavorites.
