About

Def Leppard in Concert

The world is a confusing place, but there's one resounding truth we can all count on: Def Leppard will rock you. Going strong for more than four decades, the British heavy-metal heavyweights are the world's premier torchbearers of the hard-partying, fist-pumping, ear-splitting hard-rock tradition.

With more than 100 million albums sold, dozens of arena-filling world tours under their spiked belts, and an upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Def Leppard is headbanging as hard as ever — and once again launching themselves into a globe-spanning concert tour.

Def Leppard's longevity is all the more surprising given their debaucherous origins. The band's longest-standing members — singer Joe Elliott, bassist Rick Savage, and drummer Rick Allen — met as teenage secondary-school students in Sheffield, England. They soon found themselves swept up in the late-1970s wave of British metal that included Iron Maiden and Motorhead.

Year after year, No. 1 album after No. 1 album, they've survived all manner of rockstar antics over the course of their career through luck, fortitude, and good choices. When Allen lost his left arm after crashing his Corvette in 1984, the band never considered replacing him. After joining the band during the recording of 1982's Pyromania, guitarist Phil Collen quit booze, went vegetarian, and began studying martial arts. Today, at 61 years old, he gives a new definition to the term "dad bod" (dude is ripped). The final puzzle piece, Vivian Campbell, signed on after the 1994 death of original guitarist Steve Clark. This current lineup has endured together for a quarter of a century, longer than the entire lifespan of lesser bands.

As seen throughout 2018's 30th-anniversary tour, the members of Def Leppard remain in peak form and the band is a live-performance powerhouse. Summer of 2019 sees them embarking on a tour through Canada, England, and Northern Europe. If you ever needed affirmation about the life-preserving properties of rock 'n' roll, this is it.

The world's most iconic and celebrated rock legends hit the road in the summer of 2020 for a coheadlining tour so massive that it could only be held in America's biggest stadiums. The Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, with Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts hit select cities in the U.S. where each band brings their electrifying stage shows while promising to perform their stadium sized anthems.

Def Leppard on Tour

2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Def Leppard are one of the most important forces in rock music. In 2019, the icons closed out a sold-out worldwide tour including a North American stadium run & headlining the UK's Download Festival to 90k screaming fans. Def Leppard's star continues to rise and prevail. The band have amassed a staggering 2.5 billion streams since releasing their music digitally in 2018. Def Leppard's influential career crosses generations and includes numerous hit singles and ground-breaking multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time, Pyromania and Hysteria, both of which are certified Diamond (10x platinum).

    Def Leppard was excellent!

by Marble76 on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Def Leppard was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! Right up there with Van Halen, Yes, Styx, Boston, Aerosmith, the Eagles, all of whom I've seen live. They were just terrific! Second time I saw Poison. Just like last time the guitar of CC drowns out everything. Could not hear vocals of Bret M. too well. Cheap Trick was awesome. Only negative is they were kind of pushed off stage by management that appeared to be wanting to keep to a schedule. Did not get to hear Ain't That a Shame which I was looking forward to. The Flame was awesome. They are a terrific sounding band live and would definitely go to see them again! Def Leppard was definitely the ruler of this concert though. Very good sound/vocals/instruments/showmanship. Simply said, one of the best concert performances I have ever witnessed. I even liked their cover of David Essex's Rock On tune that is not a song I particularly cared for previously. Their version was outstanding!!!!!!! Go see them! You won't be disappointed!

    DEF LEPPARD WAS AAAWESOME

by catmo on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

CHEAP TRICK WAS PRETTY GOOD. POISON WAS INCREDIBLE. BRET MICHAELS STILL LOOKS HOT!!! NOW DEF LEPPARD...THIS IS MY 3RD CONCERT IN ABOUT 5 YEARS AND THEY ARE STILL INCREDIBLE. RICK ALLEN ROCKS THOSE DRUMS LIKE HE DID 20 YEARS AGO. JOE ELLIOT CAN STILL BELT OUT THOSE SONGS AND PUTS VINCE NEIL OF MOTLEY CRUE TO SHAME. PHIL, RICK AND VIVIEN ARE GREAT ON GUITARS ... NO SURPRISE THERE. PHIL LOOKS BUFF AND STILL HAS THAT COCKY ATTITUDE. I LOVE THEM AND WILL SEE THEM EVERY TIME THEY COME TO NEW ORLEANS!!!

Cheap Trick and Def Leppard rocked!!!

by Cani06 on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Cheap Trick was amazing, they deserved to play a longer set, considering they have been around a lot longer than Poison, Def Leppard was spectacular, just as good as when I saw them in concert 21 years ago! They entertained the crowd and they still had everybody on their feet!!!......Poison, well, it was a shame, because they were really good, until CC started playing the wrong song since he was wasted......we didn't even get to hear their most popular song, "Talk Dirty to Me"! And they just ended, didn't even thank the crowd, just ran off stage. I guess CC was worse off than they thought. I think the playing order should have been Poison, Cheap Trick, then Def Leppard!!!

Cheap Trick came out first, then Poison, and of course Def Leppard was the finale! It was a great concert. Wish I could have been a little closer. I have never seen DL and I saw poison 20 years ago! They just get better with age! I will definately go back if I get the chance!

All 3 bands & the Lakewood Amphitheater were great

by Buckethead on 8/18/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

All 3 bands & the Lakewood Amphitheater were great. The tailgate party before the concert was awesome too! $10 per small beer is a bit much but other than that everything was great there.

    Def Leppard was amazing.

by MiSi on 8/18/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

All three bands were amazing. I do not have anyhting bad to say about this show. The ticket price was worth the show. If they came back through with same opening acts I would go see this show again.

    Def Leppard ROCKS

by Donna1964 on 8/18/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This was my 9th Def Leppard concert and these guys only get better!! I went with a friend and we brought her 13 (almost 14) year old son and he had a blast! I can't think of a better 1st time rock concert for him. The place was sold out and as usual, everybody was having a great time dancing and singing along to the music. A Def Leppard concert is the best time that anybody can have! Also, add a little bit of Poison and Cheap Trick and you have a perfect night. This was the first time that I had seen these 2 bands and they did not disappoint! We all had a terrific time and when they reschedule for Nashville, I will see my #10 Def Leppard show. Can't Wait!!!! hugs and kisses to Def Leppard, The best rock band in the universe!!!!!
