About

Def Leppard in Concert

The world is a confusing place, but there's one resounding truth we can all count on: Def Leppard will rock you. Going strong for more than four decades, the British heavy-metal heavyweights are the world's premier torchbearers of the hard-partying, fist-pumping, ear-splitting hard-rock tradition.

With more than 100 million albums sold, dozens of arena-filling world tours under their spiked belts, and an upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Def Leppard is headbanging as hard as ever — and once again launching themselves into a globe-spanning concert tour.

Def Leppard's longevity is all the more surprising given their debaucherous origins. The band's longest-standing members — singer Joe Elliott, bassist Rick Savage, and drummer Rick Allen — met as teenage secondary-school students in Sheffield, England. They soon found themselves swept up in the late-1970s wave of British metal that included Iron Maiden and Motorhead.

Year after year, No. 1 album after No. 1 album, they've survived all manner of rockstar antics over the course of their career through luck, fortitude, and good choices. When Allen lost his left arm after crashing his Corvette in 1984, the band never considered replacing him. After joining the band during the recording of 1982's Pyromania, guitarist Phil Collen quit booze, went vegetarian, and began studying martial arts. Today, at 61 years old, he gives a new definition to the term "dad bod" (dude is ripped). The final puzzle piece, Vivian Campbell, signed on after the 1994 death of original guitarist Steve Clark. This current lineup has endured together for a quarter of a century, longer than the entire lifespan of lesser bands.

As seen throughout 2018's 30th-anniversary tour, the members of Def Leppard remain in peak form and the band is a live-performance powerhouse. Summer of 2019 sees them embarking on a tour through Canada, England, and Northern Europe. If you ever needed affirmation about the life-preserving properties of rock 'n' roll, this is it.

The world's most iconic and celebrated rock legends hit the road in the summer of 2020 for a coheadlining tour so massive that it could only be held in America's biggest stadiums. The Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, with Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts hit select cities in the U.S. where each band brings their electrifying stage shows while promising to perform their stadium sized anthems.

Def Leppard on Tour

2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Def Leppard are one of the most important forces in rock music. In 2019, the icons closed out a sold-out worldwide tour including a North American stadium run & headlining the UK's Download Festival to 90k screaming fans. Def Leppard's star continues to rise and prevail. The band have amassed a staggering 2.5 billion streams since releasing their music digitally in 2018. Def Leppard's influential career crosses generations and includes numerous hit singles and ground-breaking multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time, Pyromania and Hysteria, both of which are certified Diamond (10x platinum).

Little Disappointed in the sound quality

by Cherylnla on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

I enjoyed Cheap Trick and Poison but really went to see Def Leppard. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the sound quality of the concert. Cheap Trick and Poison sounded much better. Maybe Def Leppard needs some new equipment. Most songs sounded muffled.

    Amazing show and line up

by Healthnut on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

This show was unbelievable. You had Cheap Trick kick it off, followed up by Poison, and then the ultimate moment arrives; Def Leppard takes the stage. It was an all out rock concert that far exceeded my expectations. These guys can still rock anybody's world. Loved it!!!!!!

    Masters of their craft

by Mylynnia on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Excitement courses through your body as the lights dim and their before you is the tried and true band of legend Def Leppard. There is nothing that compares to an arena concert. Cheap trick was great also Poison with CC and Brett's irrisistible charm but they appeared as amateurs once Def Leppard took control of the stage. Joe drew the audience in while Phil and Vivian are masters at their craft. The two Rick's were amazing as well and without their amazing talent the band would not be who they are. My kids met Phil and Steve when they had played in Baton Rouge in the 80's. We miss Steve's wonderful gift and the loss of one so talented. I look forward to the their next performance and hope they will continue to rock us with their exceptional sound.

Underwhelming Performaces by 3 Classic Bands

by VooDoo88 on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

I will say Def Leppard were the stars of the show. They did a great job performing all their hits, but overall their set was a bit short. Poison came out with a lot of energy and Bret Michaels did a lot of interacting with the crowd as i like to see. Cheap trick, lets just say they were rather disappointing. They didn't say much and they acted liked just didn't want to be there. The sound in the arena progressively got better with each band with Cheap Trick being the worst. Overall, I'll see Def Leppard again. If Poison was cheap enough i may go see them. Cheap trick won't get anymore of my money.

def leppard and poison sound good

by novaman1967 on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

The music was great for all 3 bands but the vocals were very hard to understand. It took a little while for me to recognise the songs they were playing. My parents saw this show in raleigh and had the same complants about the vocals. Other than that the concert was great.

Poison rocked the house but DefLep brought it down

by Tchoup on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

This was an AMAZING concert. All of these guys can still rock. Cheap Trick, I was thinking they would probably be just ok, not true, the singer sounded so good and the other members were entertaining as well. Poison, OMG I can see how teenagers cry! The hype waiting for Bret Michaels to come out was so intense, AWESOME. Bret and CC, awesome performance, could not ask for more! Then there was Def Leppard. I had seen DefLep a few years ago, so I was more anxious to see Poison, but OMG, Joe Elliott sang his heart out, he and other band members were all over that stage, the energy was so intense. I'll never forget it! It is definitely a MUST SEE show!

    Great Concert!

by HairbandRocker on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Poison and Def Leppard were great. However, I was disappointed about a couple of things... 1) Poison was not displayed on the two side screens (only Def Leppard) 2) Poison didn't sing "Talk Dirty To Me"... How could they not sing that? Other than that, they all sounded great!!!

Poison ok as well, sound was a little better , but Def Leppard rocked, could have sat there and just listened to them all night. They sang old goodies as well as new songs. overall great concert, great event would definitly go see same line up again if they came back together.

We Got Rocked!! Show is a must-see.

by bretfan on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

The show was great! Can't say enough good things about the musicians and the music! Cheap Trick played the songs I knew. They were selling a new album there and played a few songs from it. Sounded great. I saw them 30 years ago and was excited about seeing them again this time with my teenager! Poison was awesome. They had a lot of good songs. Opened with Look What the Cat Dragged In and set the tempo from there! It was like a Greatest Hits hour. Def Leppard rocked. They did an acoustic set with the four playing guitars on the edge of the stage. Great. Also a Greatest Hits hour! I would go back and see them again tonight if I could! I'm a diehard fan of great rock and love live music!

by KellieN on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Cheap Trick had a lot of energy and great lighting. CC Demille was awesome. Def Leppard was the whole package. I saw them back in 2006 and, if it's possible, they got better. They just put on a kick ass show. I love them and will kepp coming to see them every time they come to New Orleans.

    Incredible!

by CajunRoux on 8/19/09New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

Each of them could have easily had a whole concert to themselves! The combination of all of them was so incredible!
