About

Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

  • A most memorable experience

    by J.London on 8/15/25Brooklyn Paramount - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

Death Cab has been a favorite of mine for years and have seen them perform in many places over the past 18 years. Consistently their shows have grown in scale and sonic fidelity. For the 20th anniversary of the album Plans, you can tell there was an extreme amount of work going into the performances. It sounded so much like the actual album and it’s a testament to the band and their crew. Ben’s voice is stronger than ever and the confidence he exudes on the stage is testament to his craft. Many know death cab for their somber reflective lyrics and motifs, but if there is anything their live set proves is that they also have it in them to rock the entire house. From discordant guitar sounds building up into a wall of sound that is suddenly broken by Ben’s lilting lyrical delivery. It’s impressive to watch and i highly recommend seeing them whenever the chance arises.

  • Excellent show but too crowded

by Mmarlborough on 8/15/25Brooklyn Paramount - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

Death Cab was amazing. They played a great set, they sounded amazing. Hearing all of Plans was incredible. I’ve seen several shows at this venue and always love it (truly one of my faves in nyc.) but this show was way too oversold in the GA section. I literally could not clap because I didn’t have room to move my arms

  • Still Crushing It

Death Cab still crushes it after 20+ years. Great show.

  • Death Cab fills Climate Pledge with high levels of energy!

by Energy on 8/6/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Putting the usual big venue echoes and the people behind us that are there only to visit with each other aside, the sound wasn’t too bad. Ben Gibbards energy throughout the concert was felt and reverberated back by the fans.

  • Wonderful Experience and First Time Visit

by thewrightjason on 8/5/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was nice and clean. Not that big and not that many food/drink options but it was still a good time. I hadn't seen the band before and they played for a long long time. The sound, to me, was better than the Moda Center and I'd love to come back down the road.

  • Not the best venue

    by velouria73 on 8/5/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

I was excited to go to Climate Pledge Arena for a show because I'd heard that the sound is great and I've enjoyed going there for sporting events. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with it as a concert venue. My seats were VERY high up so that probably affected it, but the sound up there was not good - we noticed weird echo-ey sounds from the drums and the songs sounded kind of muddy, especially the louder ones. It was a disappointment because Death Cab always puts on a great show and the setlist for the Saturday show was amazing - they played a lot of my favorite older songs. So while the band was in excellent form, if I attended another concert at Climate Pledge I would be careful with my seat selection.

  • Disappointed

by Gracie on 8/5/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 1 out of 5

I had previously seen Death Cab at a TedX event and really enjoyed the performance. I have been a fan since I first heard "Soul Meets Body"while watching "Catch & Release"in 2006. But this concert was a huge disappointment! The energy was strange - every single song sounded like the other, except for a few of the more popular songs. There wasn't much visual variety, and the band's energy was lackluster, except for Ben, who was entertaining at first but eventually lost his appeal. The opener, Nation of Language was GREAT - the crowd sucked while they played, which made it hard to really hear them, but what I did hear was awesome! I'm not sure if this was just an off night, but I certainly wouldn't go see Death Cab again - between traveling, hotel, tickets, food, etc., it wasn't worth the effort or the cost.

  • A great experience!

I absolutely love Death Cab for Cutie. I have for a long time. I've seen them in concert three times now and I have never been disappointed. The venue was great. Great seat selection with great views. The Ticketmaster digital App made it super easy to access our digital tickets. 10/10 would do again.

  • Not just songs from Plans

by Western States Forever on 8/5/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Disclosure: Plans is/was not my favorite DCFC album. I followed the band from Bellingham where I went to school and the producers of The OC show on Fox brought the band into mainstream, so my associations with the Plans release and song choices were never among my favorites. I knew Plans songs ran under 45 minutes and with talking/tuning I expected Plans tracks to be done in 50 minutes, which was pretty much on. The rest of the time (more than 50 minutes) was spent playing songs from other albums, which made the concert for us. Dave Depper was so amazingly on with his guitar, and it made me sentimental about Walla days. Zac and Dave are such great additions to this band and Jason remains amazing on drums. I'm always in awe of Nick, especially after eight-plus minutes of Possess bass line. Nation of Language was such a stellar opening for this concert. We have their albums but enjoyed new material from their upcoming album and I think this opener sold us on buying tickets at the Showbox in early October 2025. Big kudos to the Seattle audience too--maybe we're all just a little bit older and perhaps melllower, but this fanbase remains forever my safe space.

  • Another Killer Show

by Alex on 8/5/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Death Cab for Cutie never fails to put on an amazing show. I've been seeing them in concert for 20 years now and it's wild how great they still are. Crisp, energetic, and so moving. Can't wait for their next tour!
