About

DEAFHEAVEN IN CONCERT:

Deafheaven merge the extreme sounds of black metal and shoegaze to create an aural onslaught guaranteed to blow ticket buyers away. Guitarist Kerry McCoy pours pure blood, sweat, and tears into his hellfire riffs and pummeling breakdowns before exposing an unexpected fragility with soothing instrumental interludes and shimmering ambient passages. These moments of calm lull audiences only briefly, before vocalist George Clarke unleashes his blood-curdling scream to ratchet the intensity back up to 10. Clarke dances around the stage on introspective and self-loathing anthems like “Sunbather”, “Dream House”, and “Unrequited”, while frenzied fans mosh along to the mayhem.  Deafheaven’s soul searching, speaker-destroying brand of blackgaze gives fans seeking a brutal live sound a hard-driving bang for their buck.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After leaving San Francisco grindcore band Rise of Caligula, vocalist George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy began to explore the more exotic fringes of metal in 2010 with Deafheaven. Using borrowed equipment and $500 of studio time, the duo recorded an untitled demo album before forming a full band. By year’s end they were signed to the Deathwish Inc. label, which released the group’s 2011 debut album Roads to Judah. The record received a warm response, though it was nothing compared to the overwhelming acclaim for their 2013 sophomore album Sunbather. Openly dealing with the band members’ insecurities and personal issues, the album was named best of the year by influential outlets like Metacritic and Treble. Unfazed by the hype, Deafheaven have kept the axe to the grindstone, thrilling live audiences with their extreme performances and stellar recorded material, including 2015’s New Bermuda.

  • Archer hits the mark (again)!

by Milligoat on 9/21/25Arrow - AllentownRating: 5 out of 5

2nd night in a row at this venue (previous night was Russian Circles). I’m glad they opened this venue. It’s a great alternative to my going to Philly for shows. Easier to get to with no big city traffic. Great room. Spacious but feels intimate. Great sound. Great bands being booked. Deafheaven one of my faves and is probably the best live band on Earth right now. I’ll be back in November for Narrow Head! Looking forward.

  • Bad sound and boring

by Music fan on 9/18/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 1 out of 5

The sound was terrible for every band. The openers were awful. One was a high school band. The other was gym bros. Deafheaven came out trying to get people to mosh and crowd surf. 1. If you are good enough that stuff will just happen. 2. No one can hear anything but, echo cavern drums. No bass and very little guitar. The venue is basically a wedding venue that had a band. 3. It’s cringy when you are trying to get people into your very boring all black tee shirt non moving band. Maybe get a video or something. Way better recorded than live. The Venue needs to correct the drum issue. That’s all you can hear.

  • Best Live Band Right Now

by Zamir on 5/21/25Irving Plaza Powered By Verizon 5G - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

You owe it to yourself to see this band live, preferably in headline set, even if you not the biggest fan of their music, I think seeing them will turn you around to them. Just unbeaten energy of any band going right now.

  • First time at the Knitting Factory

    by War_Shogun on 5/1/25Knitting Factory - Spokane - SpokaneRating: 5 out of 5

I been waiting for a long time and they didn't disappoint. I hope they come back here. If like to see them again. I was in a coma 2 years ago and Sunbather was the first song I heard randomly after. I have been hooked since. Thank you for coming to Spokane Wa.

  • Not good

by Opening acts were great on 4/22/25The Belasco - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

The opening acts sound were great, but when Deafheaven went on the sound was not right. I have seen Deafheaven many times and this was by far the worst sound for them unfortunately. The audience kept telling the sound engineers to turn it up but they didn’t do a thing

  • An incredible show

  • Incredible show

by Michael on 12/19/23Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater - AustinRating: 5 out of 5

Best show I’ve ever been to honestly, absolutely incredible from beginning to end. All three acts were phenomenal, but Deafheaven blew it out of the water. The energy in the venue was truly something else, and I’ll never forget this show as long as I live. Absolutely magical.
