Dead can dance always amazing and the greek theatre has a really good sound.
I knew only one song well, and really wasn't a big fan of the band, but wanted a fun night after an intensive training. It turned into a magical night. First, it was sunset in Berkeley, and the Greek Theatre is a great setting. We parked easily, walked up and found seats, and once we sat down, the lights dimmed, and the band started. There was some fog, but we could see the bay from the lawn seats. I did recognize several songs, and was mesmerized by both voices-so different from each other. For me, this kind of music goes right to the depths of my soul, and is so powerful. It wasn't about sitting close to see their faces, but just feeling the music with my friends, and enjoying the gorgeous evening, and the stars. The most magical moment for me was the encore song, "Song to the Siren". This song has such a powerful emotional connection for me that I was totally taken aback and burst into tears. It felt like he was singing this song just for me, for my own special personal meaning. At the end of the concert, a red paper lantern floated overhead, adding to the magic.
It was better than their cd's the sound was good too
Lisa Gerard and Brendan Perry transport to other realms via soaring, exotic sound textures.
Absolutely amazing! Brendan and Lisa still have the voices that propelled them to greatness decades ago.
Dead Can Dance was absolutely amazing!!! This was my third time seeing them live, and I would go every night if I could!!
Amazing show as always. I only recognized a few songs from the set, which seemed to be mostly from the new album. I would have preferred more songs from their back catalog. Still, it was a great show. There was an opening act who played (from what I am told) for 15-20 minutes who supposedly was great (but we missed him).
Unforgettable performance and an all around magical evening... Lisa Gerard has the voice of an angel. Highly recommend, especially if you can see them outdoors.
To have been a true fan for 20+ years and to finally come to the place of experiencing DCD live, not only was I not disappointed, I was touched beyond any expectations. Indeed, even my girlfriend (now fiance since the concert) was deeply moved, and she had never heard of DCD prior to my ticket purchase months ago. Thanks to Lisa and Brendan for all they have done over the years!
They came out and blew us away with their fantastic music and vocal abilities. It was worth the 16 year wait. The crowd was great, the weather was fantastic, and MaryMoor is always a great Venue.
This was a brilliant concert. The sound was incredible and not to loud. Dead Can Dance was stellar, but plaid for a short time. They came back for 3 encores, but still played about an hour and a half.
The staging was simple, all the focus on the music which was outstanding. The venue was beautiful - it was a magical experience.
Lisa Gerrard's voice is simply amazing. It was stood the test of time. And Brendan's voice is still top notch. The music was great! Last I saw them was with an array of musicians and a full orchestra so it was an adjustment to hear a lot of music programmed and through keyboards. Still the show was wonderful. It felt like a dream. I've never been to the Marymoor Concert venue and it felt like a city park but the sound was amazing. I had a great time and recommend seeing Dead Can Dance to anyone!
Seeing Dead Can Dance at Marymoor was an unbelievable experience. Words cannot describe how amazing they were or how grateful we all were..
Marymoor park was a perfect place to see DCD- the beautiful outdoor setting complimented the amazing show
Awesome sounding at an outdoor amphitheatre at the Marymoor Park in Redmond WA. The set up with the food vendors and beer and wine was just a quick walk. Security was friendly and helpful. Dead Can Dance is beautiful to hear. I would definitely go there again to see a concert.
Dead Can Dance are a truly amazing band, indeed greater than the sum of their parts, as the individual members, although amazing musicians in their own rights, never tread close to what they accomplish when they play together. First off, Brendan Perry is a master musician, who has honed his craft over several decades of worldly travel and study and it very much shows in the magnitude of his musical maturity. Next, we have Lisa Gerrard, a chanteuse of divine proportions, with a regal gait, yet extremely amiable nature, whose voice needs to be heard live to be truly experienced; CDs and the best hi-hi equipment can't hope to replicate its beauty and complexity; it brought tears to much of the audiences eyes on many occasions throughout the performance. The supporting band of five musicians are wonderful artists in their own right, creating a foundation that truly does justice to the atmosphere that is Dead Can Dance. A religious experience. I would follow them on tour if I could break away from my responsibilities at home. TRULY a must see event!
I was impressed with the setup at Marymoor Park. It was efficient & the concert staff was friendly. The outdoor setting was perfect for this show and the sound quality was the best I've heard at any concert ever. Dead Can Dance did not disappoint even following up very graciously with 2 encores.
I was blown away by this band! Not many bands can truly perform well live - Dead Can Dance not only performed well, they made it look easy. This is one of those rare bands that are comfortable onstage & actually sound better than the album.
Good but short. Their music is reliably great. New vocals are keepers.
