An amazing show that all should experience

by JimLasVegas on 4/18/13Davies Hall - San Francisco

Dead Can Dance was the best show I've seen in a long time. The venue, Symphony Hall in SF, was acoustically perfect and served the musical experience. From the opening act to the fifth encore, I was completely mesmerized by the incredible talent being displayed. I made special plans and flew from Las Vegas to SF to see this show. A true fan's dream trip.

    Terrible, muddy, over amplified sound

by DisappointedDCDFan on 4/17/13Davies Hall - San Francisco

I've been a DCD fan since the 80s, so this concert was a particular disappointment. The sound was so over amplified and muddy that you couldn't even make out the songs, and Lisa and Brendan's voices were totally lost. Especially considering that this was at Davies Symphony Hall, which has excellent acoustics, this was really inexcusable. It didn't help that the performers are rather aloof to their audience. We left after 3 songs it sucked.

    Powerful show

by JdHeadcase on 4/17/13Davies Hall - San Francisco

Brendan was in his finest form, Lisa never lost her form and was simply brilliant, the young percussionist is fast and exciting. Only drawback was bringing the vocals forward, it was a wee bass heavy at first but improved. The performers were spot on...an inspiring show. Peter Roberts told me of this show a week ago, and he told me about them back in 1985 on his Sacred Cow BBQ show on KGLT-FM, after which I quickly became his intern and partner in public radio, playing DeadCanDance and the like for years.

Dead Can Dance a thrill to the senses.

by MelSF on 4/17/13Davies Hall - San Francisco

Some might think that the music of Dead Can Dance would make for a boring concert experience, but hearing their stuff performed live is really thrilling. It fills you up and is like a dream. It's very cool to see them live on stage. Such beautiful and mesmerizing sounds. I saw them last year for the first time and was really bowled over. I will never miss them again when they come to town. And especially if they play an acoustically great place like Davies Symphony Hall. AND, as a side, the fashion show in the lobby was awesome - attendees dressed to the nines.

    Missing them

by Enceladus on 4/17/13Davies Hall - San Francisco

A brilliant band and a great evening. I am saddened that they're gone and that the show is over. I grew up with this band and like a long lost friend I am sad because I don't know when I will see them again.

Very fun, good music, but some of the crowd was a bit wild. All things considered, I would go again!

Dead Can Dance - Better than Ever!

by mjdig on 9/25/12Beacon Theatre - New York

This was the best concert that I have ever been to bar none. The enchanting voices of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry captivate me and they sound amazing even though they are 30 years into their musical careers with the band. The array of sounds, languages and cultures that Dead Can Dance master is truly amazing. Introducing the audience to new instruments and sounds make Dead Can Dance a truly unique band.

Amazing artists. Unfortunately the audience has been very impolite and noisy.

    Dead Can Dance was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!!

by snowite5119 on 9/13/12Beacon Theatre - New York

I saw Dead Can Dance in 2005 in Boston with a friend. They are remarkably unforgettable and extremely talented. My husband and I have listened to DCD for years. Seeing them live captivates you and brings you into another world. Her voice, his lyrics, and their music, they are exceptional! My husband and I flew to NYC to see them August 29,2012. He was swept away, and I expected nothing less than their outstanding performance once again. We did see Mr. Perry when he came to the Paradise in Boston last year and next month we will off to London to see them again. They're music is freeing to your soul! Thank You for all your hard work !!!!!! :) We truly appreciate both of you! .

Dead Can Dance....surreal and beautiful as always!

by NaeNae333 on 9/8/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I thought the last time I saw DCD at Atlanta Symphony Hall would indeed be the last forever. The band was breaking up and I thought the song silenced. They re-formed again a few years later and sadly it was a tour which I could not attend. When I heard they were coming to Atlanta again I was first in line to buy tickets, praying I would be quick enough to see these ethereal and wonderful musicians again. Obviously I was. It was a tremendous show with a solid, if unexpected, opening performance by one of the band members using only single percussion instruments to evoke a sound like no other I have heard. As to DCD...I must say they remain the single most unique collaboration of talented musical "geeks" on the planet! Who else would research an 800 year old Arabian song, much less preform it right along-side original more modern folk pieces that call to mind the origin of life on earth and the human soul? From Gregorian chants to tribal rhythms, DCD has always danced the line of beauty, art, talent and the sheer mesmerism of its audience....and successfully at that. This show was no exception...beautiful set colors and lights, Lisa Gerrard's almost supernatural vocals and Brendon Perry's soulful and rich renderings of folk classics combine to take the audience on a journey into truth, melancholia, faith and love. Dead Can Dance remains for me, auditory proof of the ever expanding beauty of the Universe...proof that while there can be darkness, there is also and forever Light.
