DE LA SOUL IN CONCERT:

Alternative hip hop pioneers De La Soul are back with a vengeance in 2014, celebrating the anniversary of their seminal 1989 debut album 3 Feet High and Rising with the 25 Years of De La Soul Tour. Classic sample-based jams like "The Magic Number" and  "Me Myself and I" will be front and center as the band takes the stage in their signature throwback streetwear for career-spanning sets of their beloved hits. With a new album titled You're Welcome also hitting shelves in 2014, fans can expect to catch some never-before-heard material sprinkled in among their favorites at the group's electrifying live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Kelvin Mercer, David Jude Jolicoeur, and Vincent Mason formed De La Soul in 1987 while attending high school on Long Island. Their playful, inventive 1989 debut album 3 Feet High and Rising was a massive success, peaking at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and launching them to international fame overnight. The group's 1991 sophomore album De La Soul is Dead was another critical and commercial success, criticizing the increasingly violent nature of rap culture while still remaining upbeat with hits like "Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)" and "A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays'". A string of acclaimed albums followed throughout the '90s and '00s, bringing the band out on the road for numerous electrifying tours with acts like Modest Mouse and A Tribe Called Quest. Back in 2014 with You're Welcome -- their first studio album in ten years -- De La Soul has fans chomping at the bit to catch the new material live on their 25th anniversary tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"De La Soul put on a wonderful show, I felt like I was in a dream. The hype before the show was even exciting, people were taking things back to the old school by break dancing."

"De La brought it back to the times when hip hop was fun! Lots of energy, lots of classics! I Love De La Soul!! Awesome show!"

"De La Soul put on an incredible show and there was so much energy. Thanks to them for 20+ years of amazing music."

  • Headlining act incomplete

by Big Trubz on 2/27/20The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 2 out of 5

De La Soul did not have their entire group im attendance, did not start on time and did not perform many songs. The songs that were performed were not songs by them but rather songs by the people who were brought on stage to make up for the fact that De La Soul was not really there nor ready to perform their set.

  • If the stakes is high.... Then damn sure try

by Asizel on 2/26/20Rating: 2 out of 5

De la soul performance at Foxwoods casino on Feb 22, 2020 was extremely disappointing. Only 2 members showed up. Maseo was DJ.... Trugoy was a no show so Plug One was the only rapper. He was under the weather and barely rapped... They didn't do a lot of their hits like Buddy or Me Myself & I..... Very disappointing to see sick a bad performance. They got their check, but they cheated their true fans and their legendary status. I go to shows on the regular and this was WACK.

Concert was fun. All The original members weren’t there but a special appearance by The Black Sheep was a great surprise! Had so much fun and seats were perfect!

  • Night of a Lifetime

by M. T. on 2/25/20The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

To see De La and Digable, to get introduced to Camp Lo, and to see the surprise appearance of Dres of Black Sheep was AMAZING! I would never have gone to Foxwoods if it weren't for a concert, and although I don't like casinos, I was pleasantly surprised by the venue. The Grand Theater is a great place to see a concert.

  • Horrible show

by Pfunk on 2/25/20The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 1 out of 5

Camp Lo & Digable Planets performance was good but I was very disappointed in DeLa Soul performance. I understand that one member wasnt there because of illness and the other member looked like he lost his voice but even when improvising the show was very sloppy and unorganized. I drove 4 1/2 hrs from Phila Pa. Waisted trip.

  • It was a great night

by Ayane on 7/18/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent view!!! The stuff were very organized and friendly. ( the bathrooms were clean, too!) Drinks are little pricy but overall, we had a great time.

  • De La brought it

by Lara on 7/17/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the blackout in midtown, lower Manhattan was not affected by the blackout! Coolest venue to see a show! And what an amazing time! I felt like a teenager listening to De La all over again!

  • Legendary hip hop

by Teddy Bjørklund on 7/16/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

De La Soul @ Pier 17 - rooftop party The three young boys from Long Island started their little musical project, De La Soul, in 1987, which created a new style for the hip hop genre with their playful witty word games as well as brilliant and innovative samples. In 1989, the debut album kickstarted an energy into the hip hop scene - here 30 years later they are still together, though some older, but the playful energy are still intact - perhaps it was their enormous energy that generated the blackout of midtown New York and the blackout of Time Square - ... but the legendary oldschool hip hop is still their game and the know how to deliver - wauw they can still deliver a great performance and what a surroundings on Rooftop Pier 17 with the Brooklyn Bridge and some of Manhattan's skyline. An amazing and wonderful evening in the name of oldschool hip hop. #delasoul #live # pier17 #rooftop #party #nyc #manhattan #oldschool #hiphop #magic #legendary

First time there, really enjoyed the venue. Cool atmosphere. Little disappointing that De La Soul only played for a little more then an hour. Ended at 10pm
