by ladychurch on 3/23/10Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

I like how David Garrett took a typical classical instrument and used it to play all styles of music. He kept all age groups entertained throughout the concert.

Three friends who had not heard David Garrett before attended the concert with me. They were blown away by this musical performance covering the gamit from classical to rock. David Garrett makes the violin sing and with 4 other musicians creates the sound of a full orchestra. The range of musical selections and David's comfortable stage style drew the audience in. Some of the music left me breathless, while other selections made me want to swirl in dance. David and his band are extremely talented!

  • David Garrett is extraordinary!

We've been watching David on You Tube, but he was even better in person. He's charming, funny, and SO talented! It's amazing that he can play the tenderest, sweetest song with a piano accompanier, and then turn around and play rock. You forget he's playing what's known as a classical instrument! His technical skill is also top notch. What an inspiration for my two young boy string players!

  • Setting a new standard

David Garrett can play an amazing range of music on the violin. He plays anything from classical to AC/DC. His ability to bring the violin to rock music is amazing.

  • What a great time!

by BelowAverage on 3/22/10Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

I had never attended a violin/classical based concert before this show. I was excited, but wasn't quite sure what to expect. Was it going to be stuffy? Was it going to be fun? From the very first moments I was hooked. I would love to see this show again. All members of the band were incredible musicians, but were still human enough to add a bit of humor to the show. If you are waffling on whether or not to go, just do it. It is more than worth the admission.

I took my 10 year old granddaughter who is taking violin lessons. She was mesmerized. We both were in awe. A truly great performer who knows how to connect with the audience.

  • Amazing

by callu on 3/22/10Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

Our family loved it. My two daughters, who are book one suzuki students loved it also (age 9 and 12). They were familar with very few of the songs that he played but the show still held their rapt attention. His technique was impeccable and the performance was quite inspiring for any music student or casual music lover. My husband, who has no musical knowledge at all was also very entertained and said he can't wait to take our parent's to David Garrett's next show in Minnesota.

by Myziggy on 3/22/10Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

This is a young violinist classically trained who has fallen in love with contemporary music and is sharing his talent with his audiences. The show was excellent as was his performance and that of his band. This is a young man we will be hearing much about in the future.
