Went for the 2nd show!
by AlilG on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5David Garrett is truly a master of his craft. He is an amazing talent. The show was very diverse and able to entertain many age groups. We had such an wonderful time that we opted to stay and purchase tickets for the 8pm show! The music was enchanting to say the least. David's persona is warm and endearing - he made you feel very drawn into his magical music world.
David Garrett is an amazing performer.
by Anonymous on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5I saw him play on PBS & had to see him perform live. He's energetic, funny & is so comfortable with the audience. I took my aunt to see him perform, we agreed he makes that violin sing. He has really modernized the violin. And he's not too hard on the eyes.
David Garrett is amazing!
by Clst on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Wow! What a talent! He is very entertaining besides being a fantastic violin player. Would highly recommend his show to any music lover.......
Talent worth experiencing
by Jcspress on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5David Garrett comes across as intelligent, sincere, down to earth, and yet possessing an amazing talent that captivates the entire audience. Rarely do you see an audience of such diverse nature be consumed by something so pure and emotional that standing ovations become the standard. Can't wait to go back, hope I can find tickets as close to the stage as possible.

David Garrett was great! Beyond his amazing skill with a violin he was charming, funny, and had me completely entertained. Kudos to him and his band for a great evening.

David Garrett is a most impressive violinist and a good story teller. The show was very enjoyable, however it would have been better had the set list place the slower and less familiar classical pieces first and the more livelier pieces at the second half. Seeing David and the band in blue jeans was disappointing especially considering the wonderful venue and the general attire of the mature audience. I was also disappointed in not hearing a version of Metallica. I hope he will be better next time.

David Garrett - a Must-See Concert!
by kgriff111 on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5For many Americans, David Garrett is an unknown name. It's unfortunate, given that his music transcends multiple boundaries, Garrett playing to entertain both young and old, classical music-lovers, and rock music fans. This was a really fun concert to attend. DG opens the concert walking down the middle aisle playing a song. He had fans excited throughout the entire concert, playing a mix of songs from the likes of Coldplay, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Beethoven, and the list goes on. Throughout the concert, he told quite a few hilarious stories. He even let a girl come up on stage and played to her. He also took the time to introduce his band and let them play an AC/DC piece, which was awesome. At the end, he gave TWO encores, and made us Chicagoans promise not to "tell the other cities" about it, haha. My only complaint was not about the concert itself, but the theater. They didn't allow photography! How can they expect people to not want to take pictures at a concert?!
Seeing David Garrett is worth every dollar we paid
by Stickman22 on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Unbelievable! Amazing talent - a true virtuoso! His combination of classical and rock music is a winner. Garrett and his band are a wonder to behold. A truly unique sound that stimulates and amazes audiences on several continents. Sounds great on CD, but the LIVE show is beyond comparison. My wife and I will not miss him whenever he comes to the area. He gave the audience quite a show with an amazing number of songs in the two sets with an intermission.

great player, and music; hope to see him back next year
brilliant
by Nile on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5He was brilliant and the security staff at the theater was totally annoying..The whole first row was taking videos throughout the entire performance and no onee said a word but the zealous security in the balcony stood in front of us half a dozen times and had loud conversations with people taking videos in the middle of the performance.... AND I am glad he loves his back up band but I was so not interested in hearing them play without him..LOUD rock music...I did not come to see a rock band.I came to hear a violinist
David Garrett - Outstanding show!
by marylan on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5This is the 3rd time I've seen him live and somehow, he keeps getting better. It was a perfect mix of classical, pop, and rock music. His violin sings. His introductions and stories in between songs are delightful and funny - unpretentious. I would recommend his music and concerts to any music lover, no matter their genre preferences.
David Garrett was brilliant!
by MarcellaMarcella on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5What a tremendous performance! This man is a musical genius! We loved his energy!
Generation Blah
by Jaynis on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5If you like an idea of a polished band led by a talented violinist, doing covers of classical music and rock then this will satisfy you immensely. Garrett is definitely musically talented, and at times witty with his stage banter. The looks good and sounds good. However, if you want to hear a good violin performance, this might not be the best venue. If probably spends as much if not more time practicing his act - but where a concert violinist hones one piece to perfection, Garrett excels at serving up mostly good music in bite size pieces.
David Garrett rocks
by bigbosshoss on 1/30/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5He is an amazing artist. This was my second show of his and it rocked. You could feel the music in your seats.
