  • David Garrett was amazing!

by Anonymous on 2/5/12Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett and his band were absolutely fabulous! David's violin sounded unbelievable - it almost made me cry it was that beautiful. We brought our 7 year old who has been playing viloin for 2 years and he loved it! He saw David Garrett on PBS and that's how he got interested in playing. We actually saw him 2 years ago at the Strathmore and he was terrific then too. He is an extraordinary performer who is always worth going to see.

i'm sitting here now listening to my Rock Symphonies CD. ever since i first saw David Garrett on PBS tv a few years ago, i have been in love with his music. the concert was out-of-this world. i took one of my friends who had never heard of him, and she's still talking about how awesome the concert was. this was my 1st David Garrett concert, and it's a nite i'll always remember. i can't wait for his return to DC because i'll definitely be there.

This concert was the best thing that has ever happened to me! David's performance was like nothing I had ever seen before! He also played several songs from his upcoming album. All of the pieces he played we're breathtakingly beautiful ! I will surely attend all of his future concerts ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

He and his band played everything from Beethoven and Schubert to Queen, Led Zepplin, Metallica and movie themes! The concert was just over two hours, and I could have listened for at least two more! If you get a chance, go see him. It was definitely the 14 total hours I drove!

  • Extraordinary performer

by Shirliegirl on 2/5/12Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

An absolute musical genius. There were a few people in our party who were not that familiar with his work, and most of us above 50 years old, so seeing a show like this was a unique experience . Suffice it to say he now has even more fans. He puts everything into his performance and his passion for music is obvious. I hope he does more shows in the states next year and I will go again wherever and whenever I can see him.

  • David Garrett's show was everything I hoped for

by MaryfromStanley on 2/5/12Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett's show was everything I hoped for and more. I had been watching for some US shows for quite a while and was able to get tickets as soon as they went on sale. We were in the front row...the only thing better would have been if the seats were on the other side of the stage because he played to them most of the night. I'd definately go see him again in a heartbeat. I love the way he blends the classical violin with contemporary music.

  • A must-see artist! Too bad his US tour is over :(

by xenophile on 2/5/12Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

With David Garrett's eclectic repertoire I wasn't quite sure what to expect--classical or rock? He delivered a bewitching blend of the two, plus a few R&B/soul pieces thrown in the mix. I was a little skeptical when he announced that he was going to play "Cry Me a River." But it was beautifully done. He gave an intro history or story for just about every song, which was cool. For a song that they were debuting at our show, he even brought an audience member up on the stage and created a little "living room" to recreate an intimate performance feel. The crowd gave him three standing ovations, which seemed to genuinely get him choked up. Perhaps an act, since he's a major star over in Europe, but he seemed to really appreciate our appreciation. ;) Highly recommended if you can catch him!

  • Rocking Virtuoso!

David Garrett and his extraordinary band bring down the house! This evening was packed with non-stop energy, amazing talent, and the most diverse range of music ever heard in one concert venue. It was simply incredible!

  • David Garrett is unbelievable!!!

    by musiclover49 on 2/5/12Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

All I can say is that he is incredible, talented, charming, and gracious. My husband and my daughters (they are in 6th and 4th grade) love him! David inspires them. They were so excited to be able to go to the Balboa Theatre and see him live. They couldn't wait to tell their friends at school how great he is and none of their friends have a clue about him - until now. He is beyond "just being a guy who plays the violin," and my daughters made sure their friends understood that he is their idol. If you can see him perform, you will not be disappointed - he is amazing!

  • Most amazing Musician!

by Anonymous on 2/4/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen many bands over the years and David Garrett was by far the best! His love of music really shows. I would definitely see him again. I got goosebumps when he entered the theatre! He smiled all the way through the show. He was polite and appreciative of his fans. Overall...FANTASTIC!!!

  • David Garrett at Chicago Theatre

    by Willie5 on 2/3/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't too sure what to expect but I had seen some very good reviews before buying tickets for myself and my 14 yr old son who plays violin. It was a very entertaining performance. The music was upbeat and he truly is an amazing violinist. We both enjoyed the mix of the classical and rock thoroughly.

  • Superb

by HugeCCRFan on 2/3/12Benedum Center for the Performing Arts - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett once again was superb. He is an engaging, dynamic and very talented musician. His very solid backup band consisted of two guitars, a bass guitar, keyboard and drums. In between nearly every song he spoke with the sold out audience about the last or upcoming song or would tell an interesting story. David Garrett and his band performed a series of rock classic songs intermixed with symphonic classics. This year's concert was longer than last year's as they were on stage for nearly 2 hours, not including the intermission. David Garrett is a exceptional musician and riveting performer. A superb performance. A highly recommended concert, I look forward to the next time that I can see him perform.

  • Don't Miss This Show!!

    by Chicagomom80 on 2/1/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I introduced my 15 yr old High School freshman to David Garrett two year ago. She plays the violin and I wanted her to think out of the box when it comes to music. She fell in love with David Garrett and in additional to playing classical music, she plays songs normally other instruments would play as well. That is because of David Garrett and this show was loaded with all of the Rock Symphany songs, in additional to Greek Music, R & B, five Michael Jackson songs for the younger generation, Coldplay for my teenage son, classic Rock for myself and my husband, songs from his future CD and percise percision on his delivery of the violin. His brief lecture on how he loved attending Juliard helped solidify the importance of having higher education and professional training. What a pleasue. I wish I could see him again. This is a wonderful show from all ages and all ethnic groups. Go see it. I promise you won't regret it. I will definately take my family again when he returns.

  • David Garrett is a gifted artist

    by Patty73 on 2/1/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This performance was a mixture of old favorites and new material. The new material was exciting. His band makes me chuckle as it seems to be a basically rock band whose members read music and are able to provide wonderful accompaniment to a classical piece. David Garrett himlself is a gifted artist and makes for wonderful listening

  • David Garrett is amazing violinist!

by ClassiqueMusicLover on 2/1/12Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I found out about David Garrett by chance online about a year ago. Since then I am following news about him and couldn't wait for my chance to go to his concert live. I consider myself a classical music lover but can definitely appreciate good crossover. David is a modern virtuoso violinist for sure and a great showman! I brought my teenage daughter with me. She was a little skeptical of my predictions that she would love it. Needless to say she had a blast! Now David has a whole group of new devoted fans in her and all her friends. I should mention also that I love the size of this venue for Garret band concert instead of some stadiums he often performs in. Highly recommend for any age and tastes of music. You will enjoy it immensely.

My husband and I attended his show in Chicago. This was our first time seeing Garrett's performance live and we were not dissapointed. He is a magnificent violinist and the pieces he chose were very well done, totally flawless. His band members are also great musicians. This was a great show and we hated for it to end.

  • David Garrett was amazing!

by Anonymous on 2/1/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Saw David Garrett and his backup band at the Chicago Theatre. It was absolutely one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Not only is David an amazing violinist, but he is very personable in dealing with his audience. The musical talents of both David and his backup band are incredible and their song repertoire was unforgettable. He really knows how to draw an audience into his performance. David Garrettt was extremely entertaining and i HIGHLY recommend seeing him. I will definitely see him again whenever he comes back to Chicago.

  • Fabulously Brilliant and magnificant!!

This event was soooo awesome that I found myself at BOTH shows... I would have went to TEN if he had played for ten....I would definately do this again but suggest the venue keep the doors to the rehearsal rooms UNLOCKED!!! Yes, we peaked through the crack in the door!!!

  • BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE

by MonicaChicago on 2/1/12The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

On Saturday, January 28th, I was ever so obliged to see DAVID GARRETT at the Chicago Theatre with my Mom! The show was spectacular, everything I thought it’d be and so much more. The show began with David being announced onstage but the lights were dimmed and I kept thinking, “Where the hell is he?!” I could clearly see the band but I could not make out which one he was- not to mention the fact that we had very good seats. Thirty seconds into the first song a beautiful, blonde, German man strolls down the aisle, a foot away from where I’m sitting- so close to me I could smell his cologne. Sure enough, it was David Garrett coming down the aisle and starting the show off with an intimate audience connection. He really is a musical genius, one who has woven contemporary music with classical taste. His music takes my breath away and I could say that it was my favorite concert to date. Which is saying a lot because I’ve seen KISS, BOB DYLAN, NINE INCH NAILS, among other well recognized bands, LIVE- BUT I HAD NEVER FELT, SCENE, or HEARD ANYTHING QUITE AS BEAUTIFUL AS THIS.
