BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Texas-born, Missouri-raised David Cook began singing in early childhood and took up the guitar at age 13. At 15 he had formed the band Axiom with his high school friend Bobby Kerr. Cook released three albums with the band before moving to Tulsa, OK, where he self-released his solo debut album Analog Heart in 2006. The following year he accompanied his brother to an American Idol audition as a spectator, but ended up trying out himself after a producer noticed him. The The judges were duly impressed and invited him to Hollywood, where he went on to win the show. Following his victory he shattered a Billboard record by landing 11 songs on the Hot 100 chart simultaneously -- the previous record holder was Miley Cyrus, who had 6 concurrent songs on the chart in 2006. Cook made his major label debut on RCA in 2008 with a self-titled album that peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and his success continued in 2011 with his sophomore album This Loud Morning -- another Top 10 hit thanks to hit singles like "The Last Goodbye" and "Fade into Me". A passionate performer known for his energy and authenticity, Cook continues to captivate ticket buyers on tour.

by d stephens on 11/20/22Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5For a solo artist the Room is appropriate; However, The size of the Abdo room was completely inadequate for the sound level of a full band that was louder than necessary...we 3 walked out having been unable to even recognize the words of the song and the fact also that from the beginning of the show... David told the audience it was good & OK to stand up (encouraged them from the get go). and many of the people in the front did, blocking the view of the rest of the room. Disgusted and wanting to keep my hearing over the fact that I lost $200.00 to leave at the third song!! I spoke to the volunteer at the door on the way out and he gave us earplugs...Really, if I cant understand him without the plugs covering up my ears won't matter and want do a darn thing to be able to sit, relax and watch a show!!

We have all been fans of David since American Idol days and were thrilled when he won. The venue was comfortable and intimate and the music a real treat. If we had any complaints at all it would only be that at times the band overpowered David’s wonderful voice. The band members were excellent and talented but it would have been nice to have a few songs with just David and his guitar. Overall, it was a fantastic concert and we would go again in a minute.

Rules were a little different, as we try to navigate live music in this new social environment, but the show was so full of energy and happiness that once the music started none of that mattered!! David is always incredible live, but the vibe in that room on Saturday night was everything all of us needed to get away from the world for even just a couple hours. The band was on fire, David was funny and charming as always, and to hear him sing live again was the perfect way to welcome back live music! Thanks David, Mike, Jeff, and Thomas!

A great musician, song writer and vocalist to start with, he was articulate & readily interacted with the audience. It was like watching “story tellers” as he explained most of his songs. His story surrounding “Home Movies” was very moving. Wonderful show.
